  1. Hi, I use it on a ASUS NCCH-DL motherboard, Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz processors, 4GB DDR, 3Dlabs VP990 Pro graphics card (512MB), with Adaptec SCSI 320 adapter, Seagate SCSI 320 HDDs, and for C++ compiler. I'm very pleased with it. Cheers, Jean
  2. Right ! And believe it or not...but I still have drive B:\ as a 5"1/4 real flexible floppy (1.2MB) on a dual floppy drive (3"1/2 up, 5"1/2 donw). Because I started using computer languages in 1974, Yes sir !, I still have some old floppys with files I made at that time and in the '80. (ea, some small algorithms). I do have one specific computer with multi-boot option: DOS 6.22 > Win 98E > Win 2K. this make it easy for old stuff ! Cheers, Jean
  3. Many thanks Nath, I appreciate Your comments. I surely will inform You about the results. Kind regards, Jean
  4. Thanks for respons. But I'm not sure the driver for Adaptec SCSI 320 is the reason, because after receiving the first message, without any detail about the Test, several minutes later (when I decide to continue !), there is an other identical message, but with the reason the SCSI 320 drive for the Adaptec card has not passed Windows Logo Testing. So, the first message is quit in the beginning of installation. And as I said before, there is only one (1) HDD connected, NO other drive, NO RAID, NO sound card... Is there any procedure to check the reason ? I think I will give it an other try, with a clean HDD, and put down the minutes and development of installation, maybe that will help ? I'll keep in touch, Jean
  5. Hello there, As a Belgian Vision Systems Integrator, we use original OEM CD Windows XP Pro SP2 to drive our specific applications on "home made" computers. As an example: ASUS NCCH-DL motherboard, Dual Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz, 2 GB DDR RAM, Seagate ST3146807LW SCSI HDD controled by Adaptec SCSI 320 adapter (always low level formatted with 16GB partition for Windows), DVD-RAM, Floppy drive. That's all we use until Windows is installed. Now, starting the OEM CD from DVD drive to install Windows XP Pro SP2, and using F6, introducing the floppy for SCSI 320 drive, the system is reading and writing until I recieve the following message: < Software Installation has not passed Windows Logo Testing > : : Surprice ! We use original CD's, and Windows do not recognize his own software ??? Windows advice us to stop installation ! I wonder if someone can explain this "unlogical" decision ? I agree, some periferical hardware do have such situation, like graphics card, and advice to continue, but Windows for Windows... I really will appreciate Your comments and thanks in advance, Jean P.S.: I already asked this question on French Support Microsoft, but NO answer.
  6. Hello, On a home-made computer, ASUS NCCH-DL motherboard with dual XEON 2.8GB, 2GB RAM, HDD's from seagate controled by adaptec Ultra SCSI320, 3DLabs WildCat4 7110 graphics card with dual processors, EIZO L985EX main monitor plus EIZO L565 second monitor. I wonder if someone can tell me the benefits I can make using WinXP Pro 64 bit ? I hope it's compatible with the HW ! Thanks in advance for Your comments, Jean
  7. Hi, Comming back to LS_Dragons and ThA_FiLeR: Question: Where's the use to have a "Recycling bin" when you have to empty it ? Because I'm not an "advanced" user, (except as a licenced electronic engineer, I started computing in 1974!) I always try to be logic in my decisions... common senses, you know?). Jean
  8. Thanks both for your reaction. To Crispy: I mean defragmentation. To LS_Dragons: No, I dit not empty recycle bin. But when I "delete" some files, it's supposed to make space on the HDD. I never used to empty the recycle bin before and never mentioned this. When i delete the files, the HDD "seams" empty, I have a blanc page. But when I ask how much space there is on the drive, its the same as if I did not delete the files. Do I realy have to empty the recycle bin each time? Thanks in advance, Jean
  9. Hello, I use Windows XP Pro + SP1 Int. SCSI - 3 x Seagate Cheetah 35GB HDDs When HDD n°1 is about full (suppose 80%), I transfer all files (images) to HDD n°2. Looking at the space, it still indicating 80% full? After defragmanting the HDD, it still indicating 80% full ? Any explanation? Many thanks in advance, Jean
