  1. They always use that. What a cop out eh? lol Good luck and let us know if ya find a way Regards N.
  2. Hi all Its not been out long but I thought I'd see if anyone has tried it repackage QT 7.0.x (currently 7.0.2 at the moment)? By running the downloaded full exe, it does the usual unpacking which you can find at: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp and it creates (well with me) two dirs and a log in the temp dir. There is a fair few things in the _is dir The msi wont run independantly unfortunately tho - asks you to use the setup exe (which of course aint there ). There's a mst in the dir too, along with another ISScript11.msi file too :S Any thoughts? Cheers, Nath
  3. indeed The new ones they sell now are for the new style PS2 with the IR built-in (just to remind everyone lol) Regards N.
  4. Have you tried the usual things? (in no particular order) - Motherboard BIOS update? - Drivers update (graphics, soundcard and chipset drivers specifically)? - Windows all up-to-date with hotfixes? - disabling A/V and other resident monitoring programs when playing the game? - checking that your system is free from spyware and/or viruses? (yes, it can make a difference ppl lol) - uninstalling the game - removing all temp files and files left behind (move the save games to somewhere else if ya wannakeep them) and install again with the A/V turned off - Checked your HDD for errors and defrag'ed it for performance reasons? Thats all i can think of right now Let us know how you get on. Cheers Nath.
  5. If you do go down the SNES Emu road or have a SNES even, check out the "Secret of ..." series of games. Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore are too great RPG games you'll like - Zelda more than FF but very good games Yes - I own them i.e. the physical cart's are in the cupboard Regards Nath
  6. hope you've removed the spyware in that install :S i.e. by presumably adding the mess.be installer into the install (by whatever means) N.
  7. lol got it http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;836426 (for everyone else) dunno why i cudnt find it before N.
  8. Innocent - take a look at this: http://shop.ati.com/searchresults.asp?dept_id=39 RADEON® X800 PRO PCIE 256MB - REFURB with 3yr Warranty That sounds really good to me lol Cheers N.
  9. Remember SlimShady you get what you pay for - and you pay nothing for the freeware version so if ya want more, you'll have to buy the commercial one [if it is being continued with - cant remember] Regards N.

    VPN

Also, get the company you work at, to send you on basic VPN training - product specific if possible. It isnt that expensive and you'll understand it alot better also. I wish I could do one grrr I've managed to work it out mostly myself - it isnt that hard if you take time out to understand the processes in how VPN works etc. All the best. Nath.

    VSS

Probably not - it is dependant on server 2003 most likely. You're better off with cheaper alternatives like RAID 1 (miror) if you want this sort of thing, or if not RAID, then use a little script or program to backup your volume to another hard drive. Many freeware tools out there for that I'm sure Good luck.
  13. another fix for the next catylyst then N.
  14. just quickly Yzöwl - whats the difference between %comspec% and call? i.e. pro's and con's Just wondering Cheers N.
  15. hmmmm..... a small thought but are you sure that all you sources for the slipstreaming are from MS? (silly I know but worth asking) I suggest disconnecting every machine from the network and go thru each one with a fine tooth comb - or a cd of removal tools and/or printed removal instructures. I found this handy link - http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=25 - which describes all the points of infection. You need to check out all the points on the list and also (previous to that) run the following tools: - MS Antispyware Beta 1 (i know you are but for the sake of saying it ) - CWShredder - Spybot - Search & Destroy - Ad-Aware Personal SE (i think this one has a VX2 plugin tool that you should install/run) - HijackThis (careful with this one) - Autoruns (careful here too - useful tho as I'm sure you already know) [sorry for the lack of links but i better had get on with the washing up before my g/f gets home lol ] Once fully removed, install SpywareBlaster & latest definitions - it "may" prevent it reapearing (only a maybe - and should help prevent the browser hijacker side of things lol) If needs be - connect to the lan/internet and update the programs with the latest versions and defs but dont allow any other machine to be connected to the same network - just in case - and also update you A/V proggy with the latest defs. Also, when you've done as much as you can to remove it - even the manual processes mentioned there, try a FULL A/V scan to get rid of any dropped files that may be linked to the problem. Good luck and let us know how it goes Nath.
  16. Glad you solved it (tho I cant say I completely understand all that). I've had problems myself with trying factory mode. These days i dont bother hehe I just make the image how I need it, then reseal it and it goes into mini-setup with no probs. sysprep.inf is handy (never used to use it) but when I tried last year/xmas, I was plesantly surprised The only annoying thing I've come across is that the "encrypted admin password" (like in winnt.sif) doesnt work everything else is fine Btw - cant find the KB number you put down. Do you have a link for it? Thanks for letting us know how you got on @un1xnut: Any luck? Any more to add? Regards Nath
  17. sorry for the delay If its happening without a sysprep.inf answer file too then it must be something to do with your build of xp... Did u use a custom/UA XP Pro CD? (did u use nlite also?) AdminPassword should be a * not a hash (#) btw @noseph: I would ask the same question to you also Also, are you trying the exact same thing as un1xnut? Please describe what you are trying to achieve also Regards N.
  18. yep - sorry about that. I must have started writing my post before boardbabe had posted lol Its a tough one... looking here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings I have a list of numbered keys - and (obviously) only one with my passport settings. Just saying because I find it odd why theres a list of numbers when I've only entered one passport lol How about exporting the above key branch as a reg file and importing that after the MSN mess app installs? Would that work? Of course, this is only good for your particular passport sign in and until you log into windows - i.e. first autologin perhaps - you might have to wait until then before you import this reg file - as there wouldnt be a current user previously (in theory lol) Its 6am so forgive the lack of proper wording here - I'm a tad tired What do ya think guys 'n' girls? Cheers Nath
  19. well - possibly not ALL on-board graphic chipsets, but the "Intel Extreme 2" (and 3 too i guess) is notorious for not being able to play the vast majority of DX9 dependant games (and even older DX 8 compliant ones). In short - unless the onboard graphics chipset is based on something like a nvidia or ati style, i.e. where that are specifically for games (nvidia MX 400 onboard - old one but show my point here) then they arent gonna be any good for any sort of standard gaming - unless you're playing real old games Hope that makes sense. Best bet if you dont have any/much money is to try and get a budget-style graphics card that is Directx 9 compliant Regards & HTH, Nath.
  20. Looks like coconut has now @coconut: Just out of curiousity, what problem did you have with uninstalling it afterwards? I dont (think) I've had a problem when uninstalling mine (see sig) - I havent used a reg tweak yet in mine yet for the initial tutorial - will do so tho when i get around to updating it Regards N.
  21. You could (I'd imagine quite easily): - Install MSN mess 7.5 normally - options not relevent as its only temporary - Use the mess.be patcher to patch the messenger exe - msnmsgr.exe - Either: a] use a msi package editor/creator to add this patched exe into the package and your done... OR b] use any of the many ways to copy and replace the silently install msn messenger exe with your patched ver Note: I dont know however if the mess.be patcher changes the registry and/or other files than just the msnmsgs.exe file - so you would need to find a way of importing these after the normal silent install [sorry if this is a bit confusing - i've had a few drinks lol] The unmodified auto-install I have on my site [see the sig ] Regards and HTH Nath.
  22. Nice link Famer - looking at the Acer sectio now ^ ^ check out my sig guys btw ^ ^ Regards N.
  23. IExpress eh? - now there's a surprise Was gonna ask how you did the EULA but my brain kicked-in and reminded me of the stages of iexpress lol lol @ weak beer - insomniac more like lol (plus i likes me spirits more.....*eyes-up his new bottle of 10yr old Glenmorangie*..... *drools*) Glad to help as always GM N.
  24. Just what I was thinking GM lmao Regards N.
  25. Just a thought GM before I hit the sack (sleep - to those that dont know the expression lol), but hows about having the empty directories and a default xpcreate.ini file when you "install" xpcreate. Sorry if theres a obvious reason why this aint no good, but it makes sense to me - no point running the script once otherwise (unless it sets something else on first run hehe) Cheers Nath
