  1. Whoops....forgot to mention the OnTrack tools too Glad you got the most of it back - good luck with the rest Cheers N.
  2. Here's some of the products out there - and some may be just enough to fix the problem but choose carefully PowerQuest Volume Manager / Partition Magic - http://www.powerquest.com/ Ranish Partition Manager - http://www.ranish.com/part/ Partition Resizer - http://www.zeleps.com/ [freeware but make sure you read the info fully first] They are a possible there to try [theres probably more]. Also, I'd suggest if the data is really important, that you get hold of another 200GB HDD and use a tool like ghost to clone the existing partition and info exactly how it is on the troubled HDD. Dunno which tool would be the best for that - ideally one that copies it exactly as it appears on the source HDD. In this way, if you mess up the first attempt, you could copy the hdd back from the backup hdd and try again. ...hope that makes sense - tired now Regards and item number two looks good - in that it can be used to restore a HDD's MBR -according to what it finds on the HDD - cud be the answer in my opinion. Have had them in my toolkit for years but never used them - well - not in a very long time. Good luck. Nath
  3. I thought that "Active" means that the partition is bootable - but its been a while since I've needed to do that at home or at work so I'm not 100% sure. Cheers Nath.
  4. I believe that it is a slimmed down version of XP [lacking in Media Player etc] due to the EU dispute with MS regarding things in their OS. Take a looky at this: http://news.com.com/Microsoft+updates+slim..._3-5737415.html Its a bit old but it might help ya understand. EDIT: lol beat me to that one - didnt even get a decent search result for your URL find lol Good one Cheers Nath.
  5. I've just had a look at the tool the above poster mentions. I've just run it on my system and it says: so providing that you have SP2 it would seem, thats all there is to it in order to support these larger drives. However, if you had the drive plugged in while it was installing SP2 [or something similar], maybe it has altered the HDD in some way. The possibility of the data still being there may exist still as maybe its only altered the MBR of the HDD. You could try looking at the HDD using Partition Magic 8 if you have it [though a bootable method - not within windows] and see if the HDD contains anything at all. You could also try plugging the HDD into a friends system that is running SP2 and see if that produces any joy. Also, it may be to do with the drivers you used. You might want to get the latest from the web or if you have done, try some older ones or search the forum of the manufacturer of the HDD or chipset [VIA for example]to see if anyone else has had this problem. I cant guarantee that anything i have said wont mess it up completely - but they are some things I'd try first. Good luck and let us know if you get anywhere Nath.
  6. Welcome to MSFN As I recall [and its been mentioned many times on the forum already - you really should use the search button] you cannot do this with OEM versions of office 2003. Regards N.
  7. Did you even look at the thread title or the 1st thread ? You do realize that your limited switchless installers are possibly big eula breakers. Telling people to search rather then help with their real problem is a tad rude. Repacking was not the request of the thread creation. There was no need to be nasty mate - I was only meaning that there had been lots of previous threads on SpywareBlaster unattended [sorry I didnt spell that out lol]. But you are quite right - i should have at least said that I dont know the answer when it comes to AutoIT [i did post it at 04:20 AM GMT hehe] - I was merely offering an alternative. The very fact that we/others are educating people on repacking applications is as good as breaking the EULA - and even if they do it themselves and dont distribute it, its pretty much breaking most EULA's too I'd wager. I did start a thread regarding the legality of doing this - and mostly I got told that it wasnt anything to worry about - thus I then created my site and have had a fair few thanks. Its all free and if any companies dont want their app on there, then i'll happily remove it and apologise - its not in any way a bad thing, only serves to help the people on this site. Of course, if everyone would like me to stop it, then I'll get rid of it - pm me if ya like. What I wont distribute is ready-made hacked versions of programs i.e. MSN 7.5 using a patched/hacked/modified exe to get rid of advertising etc., and other apps like this. I make no modification to the original files, and if I have, its usually a change of a .ini config file - which is hardly terrible. The title may not have been repacking, but as its in Application installs and used the word unattended, theres no harm in saying it now is there? Not meaning to be nasty back but I dont see others getting comments like this that provide the same/similar things - so please dont start on me thanks *smiles* </rant> @Nightlord: Thanks for the compliment and glad it worked for you mate Cheers Nath
  8. <- plusnet [plus.net] the list is pretty short lol even for back then when the thread was started Regards Nath.
  9. um.... COD & BF2 are the ones I've been playing in recent months. Usually play FF XI [Online] most days tho. Just got COD2 for xmas today so I'll be online with that soon enough Other ones in the past have been HL, but I also have a very soft spot for the C&C games - pretty much any of them - fancy a blast sometime, give me a shout Cheers, N.
  10. benners is quite right I have a ready made one if you are interested - see the sig for my site Cheers Nath PS its been mentioned before so try to search in future
  11. nice work natan puts my list to shame lol Cheers N.
  12. You can always place the updates in the Update folder inside the AVG program directory, which will install them the next [or first] time the AVG control center is opened i.e. from bootup. If your really clever, you could script something to download the latest update to that folder on first boot etc. using wget or something similar - i just havent worked out how to tell it to get the latest [date] definitions using wget. Cheers N.
  13. nice tool that - thanks. Solved the prob anyhow - but it worth the topic start alone thanks to your post Cheers N.
  14. Hi all Does anyone know of a tool that checks all the dll's installed in a OS and makes a report of them along with their size, date, and version? Sort of after this farily quickly as a app i have doesnt perform properly and the solution is to rebuild the problem pc - they know its something regarding the dll's but havent narrowed it down to which one etc. Reinstalling the app doesnt help either and the error message doesnt give any clue as to which dll it is. Any ideas guys? Unless you work in a school in the UK, there's not much point going into what the app is etc, because you wont have seen it hehe Just after a dll reporting tool - or a *good* way to do it in windows Many thanks Nath
  15. I hope that it stays true to the original series - that was great stuff - and really hard with brood war [multiplayer/skirmish style games that is]. Its probably many things which is why the delays - but i *think* it could be lack of developer/producer/dist interest and possibly funding too. So many factors to consider in game development - from its "idea" to seeing it "on the shelf". IMO that is Nath

Same thing here - tis the easiest way. Usually use skype conf call in the background for voice chat tho Regards N
  17. um... try stating what application you are talking about and maybe more detail as to the process you used to package the app. Cheers N.
  18. Thanks dude - been hoping this was possible for sooo long I never actually looked at this section before lol Thanks again Nath
  19. Did you swampy? :S Thanks for letting me know - seems they didnt sort that out of this new version grrrrr I'll repack it later on then Just so people who have posted on this thread know, but dont have a dig please - i was only providing one way of installing it [that now needs some revision lol ] I repack them like this *primarily* for use when installing them on a already installed copy of windows. I *try* and make them so you can use them in a runonce-type of situation, so go easy on the comments please I'll update the first post later on when I've had some sleep Regards N.
  20. ahhh lol there we go then I havent tried it with this version but if you've tried it [if ya havent, post back with the results] then we'll assume it's addable to the list. You've got me thinking now hehe.... more on that to come ;) Cheers bb Nath
  21. like Tarun, my clock on msdn is out by an hour when Auto Correct DST is on [is says its an hour later than it is with me]. Cheers N.
  22. Can i request a username change too please? from it_ybd [dunno what i was thinking] to my handle pretty much everywhere... tarquel Thanks guys N.
  23. @BoardBabe: Quite right - at least, with the package i made, i didnt need to If that was to start it after install, then yes, you may need to do it. This is what i tried: - The above code installs the package. - I then rebooted the machine and it loaded into the system tray on bootup into windows. - When I double-clicked the desktop icon, it brought up the "wizard" that you get on first run - after answering the questions, the main program loaded up fine with no errors. Hope that clears it all up for you [and everyone] @Nakatomi2010: I use IExpress but yes, but all you need to install it is the code in my first post. The code that boardbabe mentions is no longer needed AFAIK [it wasnt when i tried it ] I havent tried it on a UA XP CD - either thru actual install or thru VM - so I cant say 100%, but from what i tried i.e. getting rid of all traces of the old version then trying the new version [that i've packaged], it worked lovely and on loading, it never gave the 101 error of old Please let me know if it doesnt work when using it with a UA and let me know any messages you get Cheers Nath.
  24. Guys - have a bit of faith please lol I meant to add the following to the first post but it was a quick job before going to the doctors hehe On the latest software news list on the front page: http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=15197 And a direct link to the MS page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en @MHz: AFAIK It doesnt matter where the switches are really so long as the syntax is correct, besides, i wouldnt have posted the code above if it hadnt worked lol @SolidasRock: Its a new beta refresh - check the version number - and this one [AFAIK as it freshly installed for me] doesnt have the 101 problem (or need the workaround that i hear you could do with the older versions] I think with the new version codenamed defender they have planed, they wont be releasing it anytime soon as this new beta doesnt run out until July 31st 2006. @realgujju: See above
