Multiple active running DOS windows all doing work
tarquel replied to PeterFurner's topic in XPCREATE
Glad it worked for ya peter but remember the EULA of xpcreate please - looking at the code of xpcreate.cmd is a no no [afaik] Regards Nath. -
Also, you could try copying *all* the files from your original XP cd to a place on your hard drive i.e. C:\sources\XPCD and then manually slipstream Service Pack 2 into that source using the command in a command prompt: <name of the sp2 file.exe> /integrate:C:\sources\xpcd [Edited with corrections - thanks peter ] Then you can modify the XPCREATE.ini file to tell XPCREATE to use the source as C:\sources\XPCD instead of a cd. This also means xpcreate doesnt have to intergrate the service pack which should speed things up a bit for you Regards N.

Nce one - thanx for letting us know too N.

Have you tried updating he drivers for it? IMO wireless mice are not the best (unless specifically mentioned in the description of the item) for gaming - i know that dont help much but thought i'd mention it lol I dont know if it would have firmware in it also but if its possible, updating that mght help too. Have you been on logitech support forums (if they have any) or the UT site for game patches/troubleshooting? All i can think of right now, cheers. N.

Does that mean you are using a Gamecube controller with a Gamecube<>PC adaptor of some sort? Much like PS2<>PC one you can get which gives you the capability to attach two PS2 controllers into the same adaptor. And is the logitech one a normal USB PC Game Controller? Cheers N.

** Progress report: ** So far, individual switchless installers for Flash (IE) and Flash (FF / NS ) are done... Just trying to get the individual shockwave installer to install into FF at the moment - works with IE thus far. Regards, N.

@Martin: Thanks for the reply - thought you were gonna say that @phkninja: Well thats theway i have been doing it, but the whole point of making a script is that its a) more full-proof and B) quicker [and i suppose c) idot proof ] as it was gonna be a way for other users to be able to "prep" a csv file thats been exported from a list (my sig gives you a clue as to what it is hehe) About 300 entries and the starting and ending fields arent a fixed word so you couldn't do the last part of what you wrote. I worked out a fairly quick way of doing it in notepad - wordpad isnt preferable here incase formating info happen to slip into it or the users might save it as something else etc) - but in the end its pointless as I got a template for the chosen program that exports the info list correctly for another program to import Thanks for your suggestion tho. Regards all Nath.

Whoops - forgot to add that bit, but i thought what is the likelyhood of that, and didnt put it in the post lol Its the definitive way if you/a friend has one and by far (with care) the best way Agreed, although you can get anti-static brushes for this sort of thing - but I dunno how full-proof they are Cheers Nath

Yep - this is what i use / have used - and also (with the right license from the list) it gives the person redistribution rights too ...provided you dont modify the source ...which I dont. Gonna get cracking on ready-made switchless installers for you all....will post again when done Gonna do all versions if i get time so you can all choose what is appropriate for your personal preferences Remember not to redistribute them tho (unless there it says anything on that - or theres a re-redistribution license lmfao ) Regards Nath.

Hi all Just wondering if anyone knows what the best way of doing the following would be in a CMD / BAT script: I have a csv list of entries exported from excel and I need to have the "'s around the items i.e. FIELD1,FIELD2,FIELD3 will need to be: "FIELD1","FIELD2","FIELD3" Can anyone suggest a way of doing this via a batch file please? It probably pretty obvious but i'm a clutz with these kind of comands Thanks, Nath.

if anyone is interested, i'll be repacking the new / latest versions soon. For those after silent / switchless install versions that is Check the site in my sig in a day (same time tommorow as this post date - should have them for you all by then) Cheers N.

but it will un-clog the ram slots tho just keep squirting the compressed air can til its all gone. Also, i believe you can get batt powered mini-compressors / air blowers that should achieve what your after too I was gonna get one but the supplier turned ugly lol compressed air can's can be expensive - tho not for just individual use tho Cheers N.

any more of these? Any links to info on where we can find out more of these? Regards N.

Hi GM Maybe its time to make the xpcreate.cmd of xpcreate into a EXE (you could use this methinks http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=CMD2EXE&meta=) to stop the ppl blatantly violating the EULA, editing it and moaning all the time. (after seeing the recent threads and plenty of threads/posts in the past) Mentioned it before Would it cause problems to the way it works tho? At least the ini is still there and it'll be used as it should be Regards Nath.

Its been said before i believe. Only the OEM, Vol, and retail version's of XP are supported by XPCREATE. The Upgrade CD is different in that you cannot (as I recall) boot the CD (i.e. you can only run the update from within a version of Windows) so it cannot be used. Whether you can use XPCREATE to make a updated version of the Update CD, I cant say I'm afraid as I dont have it to try that. Regards Nath.

Logitech Optical Mouse Silent Switches...
tarquel replied to FRANK ZAPPA's topic in Application Installs
a link to the specific app/driver would be useful... N. -
If you can hang on for a bit before finishing the image, we'll see if there is any command lines that allow you to specify the preferences in the install. I'm convinced there has to be a way Regards N.
-
Welcome to MSFN No - you're missing anything. I'm just wondering if there is ways of specifying these options when installing thats all. Regards N.

Thanks for the reply I've noticed that this part of your script isnt gonna be quite right for this version as they've moved this part of things now. is where the QuickTime.qtp and QuickTimeFavorites.qtr is found. The other old location will exist from a old ver install btw if you dont remove it manually Just so you know. Nice work but there must be another/other way(s) - since they had the .ini for version 6.x.x and earlier, they surely have something similar for the this new version. Perhaps they've adopted the passing commands onto the msi part of things like Sun Java packages You're right, the old .ini doesnt make a blind bit of difference sadly. Its a much bigger file this new ver - i wonder if there is any ways to de-bloat it (as we all like to debloat things lol) Good work so far tho Regards Nath
