  1. @Flasche, Upload your image to the free, anonymous image hosting site of your choice, such as http://tinypic.com/ and save the link. Then when you use the "Image" button in the board "Reply to this topic" edit window, put the link to your image there. Then the image will appear in your post by magic! Cheers and Regards
  2. So it seems your real goal was to temporarily kill dwm, right? And you used to also do this in Vista and Win7? Just curious as to why? Does this provide a benefit in certain circumstances? Does dwm need to not be running in order to accomplish some other task? If so, there might be some better solution to do that task rather than killing dwm. Cheers and Regards
  3. I have not needed to try this, but have you tried the suggestions here - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/dbgeng-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm? Cheers and Regards
  4. If you are saying that you are not civilized then I won't disagree. You might be correct that stuff left at cemeteries is fair game and is not legally protected, I really do not know. You are correct that different countries/states/localities might have different laws, and I don't know whether the cemetery is considered private property or not, etc. And Flasche's post demonstrates that laws can be strange things. But whether something is strictly legal should not be the only test for whether someone should act a certain way. If everyone was as disrespectful, thoughtless or lacked human decency as described in the first post then the world would truly be sad and less civilized, which I think was the whole point of this thread. Even if you "take worst one as real life", does that mean you want it that way? Cheers and Regards
  5. But hey, is persuading XP users to no longer use either MSE or any version of IE really a bad thing? Sounds like good practice to me. Cheers and Regards
  6. AFAIK, the way it works is that for a x86 OS the x86 file goes in System32, but for a x64 OS, the x64 file goes in System32 and the x86 file goes in SysWOW64. Cheers and Regards
  7. Isn't it the other way around? Cheers and Regards
  8. It would be curious if your tests could be duplicated on a system that was not a "Surface". As to tracing the boot process, see http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/158252-trace-why-windows-8-boots-shutsdown-or-hibernates-slowly/ and ask MagicAndre. Cheers and Regards
  9. Thanks Larry. That brings back a lot of memories. (I was in 8th grade when it came out in 1969. ) Cheers and Regards
  10. Make sure your file is saved as ANSI text rather than UTF-8 Signature and try it again. Cheers and Regards
  11. Is the file saved as a simple text file with a .VBS extension? From the error messwage it thinks there is something wrong with the first cahacter on the first line of the file. You might want to upload an exact copy of your file somewhere and provide a link to it here so that someone can download your file and make sure there is nothing wrong with the format of the file. Cheers and Regards
  12. Post the "Link.vbs" you used that got that error. Are you familiar with writing and debugging VBScript? Cheers and Regards
  13. Sorry, please delete. Cheers and Regards
  14. My thoughts exactly. EDIT: And apparently the OP tried to use a sig that violated board size limits. Cheers and Regards
  15. XPclient would certainly agree with these statements, especially the second one. I wonder how Win8.x would be today if MS had never removed any features or capabilities since Win2K, but only added everything they added and made sure all bugs were fixed and features were updated to work correctly with both older and newer hardware? Well, it might have become an unwieldy mess, and the "average Joe" user would probably have been overwhelmed unless there were well defined presets to choose from, but if they had concentrated on making features as options that could be selected at install time it might have worked. I guess we'll never know. Cheers and Regards
  16. (Emphasis added is mine.) LOL. I assume you are being sarcastic? Cheers and Regards
  17. You will need to make a detailed list (with avatars ) of the people included in the "we" See here, of course. Cheers and Regards
  18. If you do as Trip suggests on the left, and LostInSpace2012 shows up there as your friend, while his avatar does not show up on the right, then I would assume that this "problem" might not ever be fixed, or maybe it will fix itself in the next board software update. Who knows? Don't worry Larry, you know we still luv ya'. Cheers and Regards
  19. Maybe there is a maximum number of friends whose avatars can be displayed, no matter how many friends you have? Just a thought. Cheers and Regards
  20. ????? To my knowledge, basic USB sticks do not have batteries of any kind and do not depend on power from any source to hold their data. Cheers and Regards
  21. IIRC, if you hold down the CTRL key while booting and starting the machine, I think that will keep Aero Glass from loading. Then you should be able to remove and reinstall it. Cheers and Regards

    Windows Updates

That seems to be a bug with MS Update that many people have already found and reported, not with KB31125 itself. Hopefully MS will get their act together eventually. But with XP being EOS we'll have to wait and see. Cheers and Regards

    The Mim0's website

Unfortunately, it appears that you may need to move your website again.Phil Why? The new site seems to load fine. Cheers and Regards
  24. You might want to look at the links in this post - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170810-ok-ok-well-support-it-lol/?p=1067639, and review the entire thread for that matter. Cheers and Regards
  25. Soylent Green quote: I loved that movie! Cheers and Regards
