  1. Given the forum the thread was created in, I bet most everybody'll tend to read that title as I did, and never even notice that lone "2k" coda appended to it. ... and re-reading the whole thread seems to confirm that impression, too. The way I interpreted the OP was: "I have a strong affinity for the legacy OSes, since that's what I grew up using. I've been creating a tweaking utility for XP and above (registry tweaks and such). I'd really like to try creating something useful for the legacy operating systems as well. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should create? It could be for either Win98, or WinME. or Win2K, or any combination of those OS. (I posted the question here since this subforum covers two out of the three version of Windows I'm interested in.) Even if it's outside my scope, I'm happy to learn." Cheers and Regards
  2. And what does the "powerDraw_v3.1 Installation Instructions.pdf" say to do? Cheers and Regards
  3. I've not seen this situation before, especially if, as you imply, that it is only for the 'Program Files' directory. And from the responses so far, it seems no one else is familiar with it either. It seems extremely likely that it was something you did. So without seeing your last session.ini file we don't have any way to even try to guess what caused it. Cheers and Regards
  4. Don't you have to give the full path to "mplayer.exe"? Cheers and Regards
  5. In other words, that is probably a "Frequently Used Programs" type list. Cheers and Regards
  6. I've forgotten. Was it originally supposed to do that on Win2K, or was that a new feature they added for XP? Cheers and Regards
  7. It doesn't matter whether we know the brand or not. If you told us the brand and model number then we at least have a chance of being able to look up the info using sources you might not be aware of. It's truly amazing what you can find online these days. Anytime you want any information, the more information you can provide about the hardware, software, problem, or whatever, the better chance you stand at getting the answer you need quickly. The more you hold back, the more likely that folks will get frustrated and give up and you'll go away empty handed. Cheers and Regards
  8. Isn't that the Thunderbird icon? If so, I would think that would show up for users for which you have installed Thunderbird, and not for users where you haven't. Cheers and Regards
  9. Already being done - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171171-introducing-unofficial-windows-xp-sp4/ Cheers and Regards
  10. To each their own I'm sure, but compared to the screenshots referenced above: My current version of FileZilla: sure seems less busy to me. Cheers and Regards
  11. And to finish supplying the info: Here is the .NET 4 link you were probably referring to at WinCert - http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/7697-addon-net-40-framework-true-addon/ - and the corresponding one at RyanVM - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?=8317. [ NOTE: You will likely need to be a member at RyanVM to get to some of the subforums, but don't worry, it's free and many members here are members there, and at WinCert, so you will see lots of familiar names.] For the record, AFAIK, all of the various releases by OnePiece (nonno fabio) are posted at both WinCert and RyanVM. RyanVM is often given as a reference from here because it sometimes actually has more info, (even though it probably has fewer overall posts than WinCert), which as you discovered sometimes makes it harder to find what you want, but then it also then gives you more options. Not everyone wants an addon but would rather have an installer they can use on a running system, for example. Sorry you had a bad experience and were disappointed. And thanks for coming back to tell where you found what you needed. Not in your case, but often folks will ask the same questions that have been asked over and over and over, so yes, they sometimes get short "Google it" kind of answers, but if they will then come back and say what they searched for, what they found vs what they wanted, and ask politely as you have done, then they will almost always get a better response. Also, if they don't come back, then we don't always realize they didn't get the info they needed. By the way, I'm also an EE, Ga Tech '79, and am the same age as Bill Gates, so I can identify with you. Cheers and Regards
  12. That often occurs. Without his being able to test using a different location there is no way to know for sure. I guess when he can't get access to mim0's site he could use - http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ - or other sites like it to verify if it is indeed just him or if the site is really unavailable. Cheers and Regards
  13. seems important to me. My Disk of course is a CD. My output-iso shall be burned onto a DVD. It's too large in size, since I added so much software. I get a file with about 3.5GB in size, after nlite finishes. I thought target won't matter (CD or DVD). I'm thinking it might be something in the "so much software", "every driver I could find", or "some faulty hotfix" that you are adding that is messing things up. At a minimum I would try only adding SP3, the hotfixes, and ONLY the drivers that apply to your system and see if that produces a successful build. If not, you could even try just SP3 and the drivers for your system. Both of those options should produce an image that would fit on a CD. I know neither of those options will produce the image that you want to end up with, but if you can build a successful image with either of those options then at least that would verify that your source, nLite, and general building methods are all valid. Then you can start adding things a little bit at a time until it no longer works so you can figure out what is really the problem. Cheers and Regards
  14. Assuming that this thread and this other one - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171343-bootable-xp-disk/ - are about the same problem, then I suggest a Mod merge the two. The OP should also be very aware of Kel's warning that you can NOT slipstream XP with SP3 while using Windows 7 as your OS. The resulting XP install disc will [n]NOT function correctly, AFAIK. Cheers and Regards
  15. You need to reattach your INI to this thread. Cheers and Regards
  16. Look over on RyanVM , here - http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=14, and you should be able to find what you need. NOTE: You will will need to sign up as a member to get to that subforum, I believe. Don't worry, it's free and many of the members here are members there as well. Cheers and Regards
  17. I am by no means an expert on this since I don't use Win8 and have no plans to do so, so take this with a HUGE grain of salt, and I could be wrong, but from what I understand from reading is the glow effect is not a direct function of Aero Glass, but is defined by the theme files and/or templates, usually provided as a png file. Aero Glass just enables their use. You'll have to search for those files. DosProbie or NoelC might be likely folks to ask for help. Good luck. Cheers and Regards
  18. In general, not just for this topic but for all topics on this forum, we are here to help you, not do it for you. Tell us where you have searched, what you found, what you have done, what results you got, what results you expected, and we'll go from there. If you are not willing to do any searching for yourself, then ... Cheers and Regards
  19. Could you then please clarify exactly what your plans are as far as donations, watermarks, etc? I and the other regulars would then be glad to pass this info on to those who still repeatedly ask, so you can continue with your work uninterrupted. Cheers and Regards
  20. @bigmuscle, I know you are busy, but you probably should put up a BIG notice on your home page and in each of the Aero Glass threads saying something like: DONATIONS ARE TEMPORARILY DISABLED AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE WHEN THEY ARE BACK THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE IN THIS MATTER because apparently people don't read and maybe this will help. Cheers and Regards

  23. I use FileZilla. Cheers and Regards
  24. Well there's your problem! LOL Which version of IE and which popup blocker do you use? Are you willing to use a different browser? What does this mean? Video ads for what? Even on this site, (msfn.org)? Did you make ANY other changes, add any other software, even temporoarily, browser extension, do any updates, etc around the time this behavior began? You are not helping us help you with the lack of information you are providing.. Cheers and Regards
