  1. Please notice that if you use: [quòte name=Sophy" post="1118787" timestamp="1456285606] Could someone tell me how to use [/quòte] you'll get: But when you use: [quòte name=Sophy] Could someone tell me how to use [/quòte] you'll get: Whereas just using: [quòte] Could someone tell me how to use [/quòte] gives you: I do sincerely hope this addition helps, but please do feel free to ask if all I did insrtead was confuse.
  2. Of course, there's a simpler version of it: Please do make sure, after copying one of these .REG files to notepad, that the file ends with at least two blank lines. Then change the extension from .TXT to .REG, right-click on the name and select "merge", then "yes".
  3. Install N and give it the KN key right away (not the N key). Regardless of what happens, let us know how it went.
  4. At the moment, nobody. After you provide a beta to the beta-testers you yourself selected, and we get convinced your project is not vaporware, then we may reopen the KernelEx thread. Meanwhile this thread will also be closed, since the issue reported herein has been solved.
  5. Sure! However that chance, while not exactly equal to zero, is way smaller than the chance of your winning three different lotteries in the same day with the same numbers and, then, being fulminated by lightning, before cashing in any of those three prizes.
  6. Well, I, for one, do hold a fantasy that I'll be running Windows XP (and maybe 7) on 2020 and beyond... I've started on a B6700 and still use Win 98SE, although not on a daily basis, to this day. "Ieu sui dencorso, que nadi contra suberna!"
  7. Sure! Resistance is futile! Prepare for assimilation!
  8. With all due respect, I'd like to remind you all, folks, that this thread is about "How to avoid being "upgraded to Win 10" against your will", not how to migrate to VMS, unix, OS/2, CP/M or whatever OS one may fancy. So, please, let's keep on topic. Thanks for your understanding.
  9. I don't know whether this also applies to 10, but for 7, there were two types of FPP, those that can be activated anywhere in the world, and those with "Activation Restrictions", which were clearly identified by a red warning on the box. See this older post of mine regarding that. Is there any link I can visit to be sure. I will print that thread. Thanks
  10. Good catch, KB3118401 is the new edition of KB2999226 and, hence, has ben added to the 1st post! It goes without saying it ought to be avoided on any system, so it applies to Vista, too.
  11. I don't know whether this also applies to 10, but for 7, there were two types of FPP, those that can be activated anywhere in the world, and those with "Activation Restrictions", which were clearly identified by a red warning on the box. See this older post of mine regarding that.
  12. No. Read Aaron's blog further. At most you need to remove v. 1.1, IIRR.
  13. Redownload and try again. Run it by double-clicking on its nam on explorer. Then let us know how it went, OK?
  14. Did you try here?
  15. Aaron Stebner's blog has all the info you need to remove and reinstall .NET 1.0, and it can be both removed and reinstalled without touching the other .NET versions. However, there is some evidence that when removing and reinstalling once does not fix the issue you mentioned, doing it twice works (I've seen it myself, and no, I don't know why). Good luck! As for the flag, given what you said, it's OK, let it remain as it is.
  16. Remove .NET 1.0 SP3 Use Aaron Stebner's remover for that. Then reboot, and if you wish, reinstall .NET 1.0 SP3 (it's not needed, but suit yourself). Now, if you're in Italy, please do kindly set your flag to Italy, so as to avoid confusion.
  17. Have you updated your e-Books on 7 and 8 with all the new knowledge you've acquired in the last, say, 6 months? Are you keeping them up-to-date?
  18. The Root Certificates thread is now created, too. Just to let you all know. It's here. Thanks are due to Dave-H, for the post list. Please do check whether any adjustments should be made.
  19. Hopefully perpetual links to win XP SPs and IE upgrades:
  20. We may not be very far from that idea. All that's needed is to apply it to a different part of the body... It could also be a tramp stamp instead, but I don't see much improovement, except allowing to sit better...
  21. Done! It sure is a start, and we all agree about it. Thanks are due to Acheron, for the post list, without which my task would've been way more difficult! And congratulations to Dave-H: you're now thread starter of the new EMET thread!
  22. @vinifera: Will you please drop it? You've already shown you bile and dissatisfaction, as always. It's not constructive, and changes nothing. People's projects, specially those for free like SP4 are a gift of their creators to the community. Nobody is forced to use 'em nor to like 'em. But sterile criticism adds nothing. You're not pleased? Go ahead and create your own alternative SP4. Or let sleeping dogs lie.
  23. @all: this thread is getting heavy. We're on post #888, already! I'd like to close this thread by #999 or1000. Of course, I'll open a new thread for continuing the discussions, as this is an ongoing matter, but keeping threads not too heavy is advised. So, please, do spend some moments reflecting on what title should be given to the new thread, when opened. I think the same title followed by (Part II) is somewhat poor, albeit quite precise. Please advise. There's some time till 1000, so there's no hurry, but I really want to avoid doing it by surprise and thence causing unwanted reactions, OK?
  24. Nah! It's much cooler to use an intelligent tattoo on the left buttock to check Facebook and tweet. What else is there to do, after all... ...NOT!!!
