  1. Illegitimis non carborundum!
  2. Get the old good pe_patch.exe. Rename mpam-fe.exe to TEMP.EXE Use PE_PATCH to change "Sub-System Version" from 5.2 to 5.1 Use the reliable n7epsilon's PEChecksum.exe v. 1.4 to correct the PE Checksum. This is the command-line to use in a CMD Box: PEChecksum -c TEMP.EXE Rename TEMP.EXE to mpam-fe.exe and run it. Enjoy!
  3. Internet Explorer 8 remains supported due to WES09 and POSReady 2009.
  4. I'm using jre1.8.0_77 since March 28, 2016 without any issues. It warns, but installs, as all 8s post-u25 like to do. I'm on XP SP3, as you all know.
  5. For me, for the time being, Chrome stays at Chrome 49.0.2623.112 m, just like IE stopped on version 8. As it is, we still can continue updating Pale Moon and FF for a while. After that, well, then we shall see... Of course, one's own Zukunftsfähigkeit depends on that one's Weltanschauung and mine, for one, is fully against all Verschlimmbesserung !
  6. The proper way to do it is a wrapper library for the chrome code and a stand-alone patcher for the installer. In that way you don't need to redistribute any patched third party files, just your own.
  7. The updates I was offered are shown in the screenshot below. All installed OK.
  8. The future of FF is Pale Moon. BTW, the future is here...
  9. No. They're based on either 7SP1 or 8.1... Not even MS believes in 10 all that much...
  10. Now, guys, what about being civil? It goes a long way, you both know it. So, please, do stop it.
  11. Well... I don't think so. But, for the record, KB3148198 should be the last Cumulative Security Update for IE7 ever, which means: "RIP IE7".
  12. Yes: Ivy Bridge with the x6x (Cougar Point) Southbridges supports XP fully. Ivy Bridge-E with the X79 Southbridge is also does. Supposedly the most extreme fully supported XP machine ought to be an LGA 2011 X79 motherboard with non-Intel USB 3.0, powered by a Core i7-4960X (which has 6 cores and Hyperthreading).
  13. Windows2000-KB957579-x86-enu.exe was replaced by Windows2000-KB951748-v2-x86-enu.exe, AFAIK.
  14. Well, technically, neither Intel nor AMD are bound in any way to uphold the OSes EoS dates, whereas MS (which is the party that established the EoS dates, to start with) ought to be bound by its own word...
  15. I confirm error 500 attachment errors everywhere.
  16. Sure, the selfsame one. And that song is from the same period, too.
  17. Or, maybe, this one?
  18. Well, thanks for your interest! However this page says: Supported platforms: Adobe Primetime is available on Windows Vista/7/8/10 for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Firefox. Mac OS X, Linux and Windows XP are currently not supported. So, I cannot avoid asking: are you sure it works for XP?
  19. I believe v. 49.0 may be the last for Vista/XP. But there might be at least some more builds before they actually move on... Is there something like the FF ESR (Extended Support Release) version, but for Chrome instead? If not they could very well start it on v. 49.0...
  20. I confirm it: Google Chrome, normal version, was also updated to 49.0.2623.112 m today and is working fine on Windows XP.
  21. It never ends, now, does it?
  22. Shame on the age and on its lost principles!

  23. No one really knows... But I suspect MS'll continue pushing 10 for longer than that. It's flopped, but they refuse to face up to reality, you know.
  24. No! On average, for each random set of 20 computers, about 10 are on 7, 2 on XP, 2 on 8.x and just 3 are on 10. You are misrepresenting the shares of both XP and 8.x in a way that sure makes MS happy. Do take care what you say, to avoid reinforcing their misleading discourse!
  25. "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" (T. S. Eliott)
