Err... Did you try: "Control Panel" --> "Regional and Language Options" --> "Languages" --> "Details" ? It oppens the "Text sevices and Input Languages", from which you can add another keboard layout, which is what I think you're looking for...

Pale Moon 26 for Atom/XP doesn't start with POSReady registry hack

True enough. Unless I find a way to get rid of Chrome (not because it's dropping support of XP, but because I utterly dislike it) and play H.264 on FF and/or PM, that's precisely what I'll do. But I suspect maybe QuickTime 7.7.7 or something like that may actually let me get rid of Chrome once and for all. Let's see. -

You needn't. I do. All the main Brazilian content providers switched to H.264 and do not fall back to anything. CNN, Newsweek and YouTube do work. Perhaps that's why I noticed it and I'm actively trying to solve it. -

YouTube is not a good test: it'll serve WebM HTML5, which FF can play. Please go to the link I provided and run that test with Flash disabled. -

Did you try it yourself? Can you play H.264 on FF + XP SP3 ? Are you sure? Try this test: Scroll down. Can you play the video marked "H.264/MP4" ? Really? -

I use Firefox 44.0 as the main browser, Pale Moon 26.0.0 as the second alternative and IE8 as the third. But some months ago I was forced to add Chrome (as of today: v.48.0.2564.97 m), because none of the 3 above can play H.264 (HTML5) video (on XP SP3, obviously -- this issue doesn't exist on 7 or 8.1), while Chrome can, and many sites I read have changed to non-Flash content, so I had to cave in. I did try the new Opera (which I never liked either, but I do have Opera 12 on my other day-to-day desktop), but it too isn't able to play H.264 (HTML5) video. Does anyone know of any good add-on for FF or PM, capable of solving this issue. I'd gladly remove Chrome from my machine, in case the other browsers became capable of playing H.264 video. TIA. -
You said it: you didn't buy anything. You donated as much as you wished. And recieved as a gift as many keys as the developer wanted to give you. He could even have given you none at all. It's not a purchase, just a donation.

Well, it seems the latest XPS 410 use the same hardware of the Dimension 9200... I'd rather believe in the Dell identification of the Service Code than on the manual. But I've been to Dell's site and I think the Card Reader driver offered should work on 7, in case it doesn't have the apropriate drivers natively. And if their nVidia GeForce 7300 LE 128 driver perchance refusers to install, a newer reference driver from nVidia certainly will work OK. It seems to me you won't have to worry about drivers, after all. The Logitech mouse too, in case you still use the mouse that came originally with the PC, and if needed on 7, may benefit from a a newer reference driver from Logitech.

If, by "C++11", you mean VC++ 2012, the answer is no, not at all. Even VC++ 2008 is already quite problematic... You want to build Pale Moon for 9x/ME, it'll have to compile without a complaint with VC++ 6.0, or it's not worth the effort.

OK, while submix8c tests the upgrade procedure I'll look for the drivers. But, for that, I need the info on the Service Tag of your machine. So, watch this video <link> at the Dell site to learn how to find the Service Tag, then send me the info on the tag by PM, please. In fact, I dont need the serial number, just the exact model to be able to hunt for the right drivers.

Well, there actually is something of the kind... it's called scrubber.exe... you can get it from MS, it's KB277222. It'll remove all unconnected drives' entries from the registry, be they USB, SCSI, SATA or Firewire.

Don't let Luxman's posts scare you. You came to the right forum, we'll help you along all the way.

When anyone asks my opinion, I say: get yourself Win 7 FPP (on eBay or the like) and *NUKE* that bundled 10 which came with the PC !!! Then make sure to prevent that crappy "upgrade" and be happy!

Well, video cards tend to live long. Moreover, when they break, one of the most common issues is bad capacitors, which can be substituted and the car gets back to life. And when even that fails, you can yet try another card of the same type, sourced cheap from eBay or similar. Let's not worry in advance, right?

It's better, in this particular case, to run delcert.exe after hexalter, instead of PEChecksum.exe, because delcert will both remove the now invalid certificate and then correct the PE checksum. IMO it's better to have a non-signed file than one having an invalid certificate. Of course, that's just my 2 ¢. -

dencorso replied to Agorima's topic in Windows XP
Yes. It is. You'd have to remove the hack from the cold (unbooted) system, by using a live CD. That's described somewhere else here... found it! It's in this post. Then again, fact is Pale Moon dumped us. Here is the official notice: And for those who have no intention of removing the hack just to satisfy Pale Moon, here are two links for direct download of the offline installer of Pale Moon 25.8.1.(Atom/WinXP): <Link1> <Link2> -
I was going to do that, but then I realized it's a proprietary (Adobe) file, so I'm not sure it would be kosher. I'd like to check on that first. It's not kosher, as you already suspected. But you can install Sea-Monkey and try it yourself. Since you already proved it works on PM, it should also work fine on SM.

Then don't upgrade. Things are working as they are for you, you should rather avoid the many headaches associated to upgrading. Moreover, to let sleeping dogs lie will cost you nothing, on top of it, while moving on to 7 legally is not for free. Yes. And the best decision you can reach is to go with Chrome until it stops updating and, when that happens, then maybe keep it without updates or dump it (which is free) for another browser that keeps supporting Vista and is also free. Please don't let Chome strong-arm you into moving on to 7 against your better judgement. Of course, these're just my 2 ¢, so feel free to ignore them.

You're not alone! Then again, you do have the right to reinstall your authentic XPs whenever you want, but If you do that often enough, you then have to phone in to activate. That's not new, it's like that since the XP activation scheme was started. Of course, they may redefine what "often enough" means and get away with it. But, rest assured, if you create clone backups of each machine, you'll be running XP for a long time ahead. MS is getting more and more intrusive, but it still is a long way from becoming the "big brother" they want to be, except for those unhappy people who own nothing but Windows 10, which, BTW, amounts to owning nothing at all. That's not your case (nor is it mine), at least for the time being.
