  1. Introduction: Here, you will find a list of AMD/Intel CPUs/chipsets and Intel/NVIDIA/AMD GPUs which support Microsoft® Windows Vista™. If you have any additions that aren't currently listed, feel free to reply with them and they will be added as soon as possible. Supported CPUs: Intel (Desktop/Server): Note: Windows Vista has been known to work with Pentium III and even some Pentium II processors, however this configuration is extremely suboptimal and the OS is practically unusable on these processors, so using at least a Pentium 4 (Prescott), plus installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is recommended for acceptable performance. Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 is only supported from the Pentium 4 505 Processor and newer Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition (Prescott, 2005) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium 4 HT (Northwood, 2003-2004) *x86 only Intel Pentium 4 HT (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 is only supported by F-series, 5x1, 517, 524 and few OEM models in E-series (SL7QB, SL7Q8) Intel Pentium 4 HT (Prescott 2M, 2005) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium 4 HT (Cedar Mill, 2006) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium D & Pentium Extreme Edition, all models Intel Celeron, all Netburst-based models (Williamette & Northwood-128, 2002-2003) *x86 only Intel Celeron D (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 only supported by 3x1, 3x6, 355 models Intel Celeron D (Cedar Mill, 2006-2007) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Celeron *all Core-based and newer models up to Ivy Bridge based Celerons; Braswell/Haswell and later do not properly work with Vista. Supported GPUs: Intel GPUs: Intel 915GM/GMS will work with Windows Vista by using XP drivers, however Aero Glass isn't supported due to lack of WDDM drivers. Intel GMA 950 (Desktop: 945GC, 945GZ, 945G; Mobile: 945 Family) or newer, last Intel GPU to support Vista is Intel HD 4000 series (Ivy Bridge; Desktop and Mobile). Download Intel HD 4000 Graphics Drivers for Vista: 32 bit - 64 bit ATI/AMD GPUs: ATI Radeon 9250 and all later GPUs released prior to the 9500 will work with Vista using XP drivers, however Aero Glass isn't supported due to lack of WDDM drivers. ATI Radeon 9500 or later; last AMD GPU to support Vista is AMD RX 300 series; drivers are coming soon. The first official version of ATI Catalyst to support Vista is version 7.1. The last official version of AMD Catalyst to support Vista is version 13.12 (Download: 32 bit 64 bit). However, newer versions up to 15.6 Beta for Windows 7 can be modified to work on Vista. View this thread for more details. NVIDIA GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5100 and later NVIDIA GeForce 8 series to GeForce 300 series; download recommended driver here: 32 bit 64 bit NVIDIA GeForce 400 series and later; last NVIDIA GPU to officially support Vista was the GTX 980 along with driver version 365.19. Download here: 32 bit 64 bit - Note: Vista 3D Vision support was dropped around version 310.00. The GTX 1060, 1070, and 1080 can also be made to work with Vista, as driver versions up to 372.70 work with Vista, albeit not officially supported by NVIDIA. Download here: 32 bit 64 bit - Note: DirectX applications aren't properly utilized by these drivers under Windows Vista, so this will cause a bottleneck in performance over using the GTX 980 or older, where the 365.19 drivers (more optimized for Vista as they're officially supported) can be used. Final Apple Mac Computers to support Vista via Boot Camp: iMac; all Late-2009 models Macbook Air; all Mid-2009 models (32-bit only) Macbook and Macbook Pro; all Mid-2010 models Mac Mini; Mid-2010 (This is the only Mac Mini to support Windows Vista 64-bit; earlier models are 32-bit only.) Mac Pro; Mid-2010 Miscellaneous Hardware: Looking for an Xbox One Controller driver for Windows Vista? View this thread for download + how to install (HUGE THANKS TO @GTAGAME for this.) Download Elgato HD 60 S Capture Card drivers here - to install, extract the exe with 7-ZIP and manually install the drivers in Device Manager (thanks again to GTAGAME for pointing this out).

  3. - Windows NT 5.x family windowsupdate.com links for available languages, including all (any?) Custom Support Updates - The updates links are grouped for each build, slightly sorted, and ordered lexicographically per update number or file name as possible - Superseded (replaced) updates are not filtered or excluded - The dump is available as csv files containing updates name and url, or plain text files containing updates url - It's recommended to use CSVFileView to check the csv files https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/csv_file_view.html - You can filter or extract updates for certain language using findstr (Vista or 7) e.g. findstr /i \-enu NT_5.2.3790-x64-Custom.csv > NT_5.2.3790-x64-Custom-enu.csv however, few update have different language identifier or none, so it's best to review the whole file first - NT_5.1.2600-x86-SP2-Custom and NT_5.1.2600-x86-SP2-Custom-IE are ment for the EOS Windows XP SP2 x86 only - NT5-ia64 is for Itanium-based Server 2003 / Windows XP - .NET Framework packs and updates for NT 5.1/5.2 are in a separate list files, likewise Windows Media Player and some eXtra updates # P.S. Maybe it's best not to post the links explicitly in the forum replies or text sites (pastebin, txtuploader..), and share them in the txt/csv files # Download https://gitlab.com/stdout12/adns/uploads/9ca06a12dd08c06edd889e65afa637fa/NT5_WU_URLs_csv.7z https://gitlab.com/stdout12/adns/uploads/33fcfd0b0f6c1a0cb74472cb8407800d/NT5_WU_URLs_txt.7z

  4. Does Google Meet work in OLDER versions of Basilisk? ie, did a recent update "break" Google Meet or did Google Meet NEVER work in Basilisk to begin with? I will add, I'm unfamiliar with Google Meet but I do use Google Voice DAILY. I don't own a cell phone OR a land line, I do any-and-all phone calls and texts for FREE using Google Voice (it's actually a stress-free lifestyle cutting the FALSE perception that we "need a phone"). Plus, I get to roll on the floor in laughter when dad gets stressed out when a solicitor calls his phone, he has to resort to "What part of do-not-call list do you not understand?" on a good 80% of the calls to his phone! Solicitors and robo-dialers CAN'T call Google Voice! But, back to your question - unless a recent update "broke" something, my hunch is that Google Meet will NEVER work in Basilisk (old or new). I say that because not "all" of Google Voice will work in *ANY* of Roytam releases. It's been one of the driving factors for me to convert over and use a CHROME-BASED browser as my DEFAULT. Like it or not, fight it if it makes you sleep better at night, but the "internet" is evolving towards Chrome-only.

  5. Hi Drugwash, thanks for your input as always. Codestuff Starter is also very nice. Can't remember the version i trialed, my Windows 98 machine hasn't been available for a few days. I've used Wine a few times on my GNU/Linux systems, came in handy a couple years to complete tax returns. Otherwise i always prefer to run code natively on the target system. Thermometers in this house are off too by about one degree celcius, even at same level of the house. Don't know much about 'modern' computers, recently purchased a used Dell Vostro 230 for $25 CDN, not much more than a couple Big Mac meals. Build date 2011, dual core 3+ GHz, 64-bit, 3 GB RAM. Most powerful computer in the house now. None of my old hardware is compatible, it uses SATA, and everything is much newer. It now dual boots Windows XP and the latest Devuan Beowulf nicely. Dell still provides the Windows XP drivers. Don't think it would run Windows 98, never tried. Refurbished the tower. The previous owner kept it pretty clean but i still removed the motherboard to clean underneath, opened up and cleaned the power supply, removed and cleaned behind the front cover (traps lots of dust), etc. Only issue was the DVD drive failed to open, fixed by gently cleaning the rubber belt with alcohol. Apparently a common problem, lots of information online. This can be performed without dismantling the drive using angled tweezers or a dental pick. My brain shifted to CD/DVD drives, this house has 11 drives! What the heck, they will never get used up. Some CD only, some CD/DVD, some read-only, some burn. One is labelled 'Query broken' from a previous used hardware pickup. Dismantled and rebuilt what appeared to be the worst condition drive, Pioneer DVD-ROM. Never took a drive apart to this degree before, parts everywhere, lots of fun. Covers, gears and pulleys removed, etc. The belt on this drive was refurbished with glycerin, looks like new again and works like a champ. The original problem actually was that the drive wouldn't stay closed to read a disc. Upon further inspection, this was because the laser assembly was unable to fully pivot into position, so the disc wouldn't fully load, then the drive would eject it. Lots of old grease removal, added some oil, lots of cleaning. The mechanism works smoothly again and the drive runs like new. Most people can't be bothered to fix this stuff. To me if it's a hobby then it's not work. Some have the philosophy that their time is more important and what's the big deal spending a few bucks to buy a new one. To me haste makes waste. Save the planet, keep stuff running, learn something new. Driving around town buying new stuff takes time and energy too. Plus 'working for the man' to pay for all this new waste also comes with a cost.

  6. I just realized it is possible to use zoom (as in videoconference) in XP. You can donwload the installer at https://zoom.us/download, which is Client v. 5.6.3 for newer windows, 5.0.2 for XP. It is not portable [creates a c:\users\yourname\appdata], but you can extract ZoomInstallerXP.exe, and then unzip the folder "ZoomFull.cab". You can then move the contents of the "bin" subfolder (inside the extracted ZoomFull folder), to a directory of your choice, and adapt the reg file below with your path. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION] "Zoom.exe"=dword:00002af8 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.zoommtg] @="ZoomLauncher" "Content Type"="application/x-zoommtg-launcher" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ZoomLauncher] @="Zoom Launcher - 3.0.1" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ZoomLauncher\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Internet\\Network\\Zoom.exe\" \"--url=%1\"" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-zoommtg-launcher] "Extension"=".zoommtg" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform] "Zoom 3.6.0"="" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\zoommtg] @="URL:Zoom Launcher" "URL Protocol"="" "UseOriginalUrlEncoding"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\zoommtg\DefaultIcon] @="\"C:\\Internet\\Network\\Zoom.exe\",1" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\zoommtg\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Internet\\Network\\Zoom.exe\" \"--url=%1\"" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ProtocolExecute\zoommtg] "WarnOnOpen"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights\ElevationPolicy\{AFDA28A5-1B5F-4635-9877-73DF0D710C9A}] "AppName"="Zoom.exe" "AppPath"="C:\\Internet\\Network" "Policy"=dword:00000003 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ZoomRecording] @="Zoom Recording File" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ZoomRecording\DefaultIcon] @="\"C:\\Internet\\Network\\Zoom.exe\",0" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ZoomRecording\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Internet\\Network\\zTscoder.exe\" \"%1\"" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.zoom] @="ZoomRecording" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache] "LangID"=hex(3):09,04 "C:\\Internet\\Network\\Zoom.exe"="Zoom Meetings"

  7. A recent post in the XP forum convinces me that DVBViewer still supports vanilla Vista. Despite its focus on DVB, support for ATSC and ISDB is also mentioned e.g. here. If WinClient5270 should return, please add this to the list under DVR/PVR software ($$$, CS, ONG). You have been missed around here.

  8. TY ... I actually hear coconut water is very helpful so I have a few cans and will try to replace the coffee with more water over the coming weeks. I read both - some have side effects and many don't. I had no side effects from the 1st so that was good. Of course the vaccines haven't been test properly on us blobfish so I'll have to ask others down here how they are getting along ... we keep "social distancing" and only swim near others with masks down here; as well and I don't like to hide my face Seriously - I won't worry too much, and again appreciate your reassurance.
