I have an explanation. When real capitalists ran the West, everything was fine. Nowadays commies ran the majority of all businesses. I was in shock when discovered they only allow you to buy the exact (low) amount of items in America! Like 3 CPUs in one hands. They started to shove down our throats those limits rather recently. It's not capitalism. It's freaking Soviet Union! In real capitalism you buy whatever amount you want!3 points

Due to the regular maintainence of my Windows XP, there is no need to reinstall the OS. It is even faster than in its early days. I did so much to it that even Thorium runs well under Windows XP. I also have a well thought-out image system and can return to a previous state at any time. Even to the very first one.3 points

Yes, but only if you want to have the extensions left, cookies aren't allowed to be transferred anyways!!! I just tried with a site similar to a forum, I copied the browser with this flag to another PC, Cookie became invalid, and I was forced to fully login!2 points
-
Right! I have already corrected my post. I meant not using this flag, of course. Too early for me, too.2 points
-
Agreed! Absolute BS! I have one account that has to be logged into at least THREE times per week all from the same EXACT computer. If I do one of those three from a different computer, I have to call a 1-800 number to have my MFA (multi-factor authentication) reset! If I fail to log in THREE times within a week, I have to call a 1-800 number to reset MFA. Any week that contains the 28th thru 31st day of the month, I have to call a 1-800 number to reset MFA even if I log in three times per DAY each and every day of that week! When asked why that last day of the month always always ALWAYS triggers a "you must call", they tell me it's because "we tried to email you but we have no email on file". And no! They will NEVER be given an email address! PRIVACY RIGHTS are virtually NON-EXISTENT in this day and age.2 points

The World's populace numbers are terrible, agree. "Thanks" to China, Russia, Latin America, Africa and India. I'm in shock how fast they grew in size in the last 30 years, of course if they don't stop to overpopulate the Earth, something terrible will happen to the planet. There's literally no place for animals anymore! In Europe, most of the land is occupied with farms. Thankfully, the locals don't spawn here like rabbits.2 points
-
Of course not! But the amount of times we read it, oh boy... Besides, telling it simply makes no sense since it's already publicly known we're on old "insecure" OS. P.S. I want, and always preferred, strictly about the subject posts.2 points
-
Ethics on this forum doesn't allow to use such references in regards of old OS, MSFN is a home for old OS fans. Probably, you still don't know that? For example DAVE, our respected moderator, uses XP on his daily basis, I use Vista.2 points

Registry is there for a couple of main purposes. It includes tracking, logging for devs, surveying the legitimacy of software (trial timers, etc), simplifying police/forensic investigators.2 points

Another interesting observation, now by me, Thorium and Supermium have the same unique fingerprint that can't be changed! Go here, look at "Akamai Hash", compare. https://browserleaks.com/ip If anyone can come up with a tested/working solution for these, please chime in!2 points

Per your request, I just tried Opera GX 108 (I picked up the same Chromium engine), it doesn't leak those Hints with the aforementioned flag used via cmd. I checked here, it's more convenient and informative, without bloat, and easy for users who don't know how to enter developer mode. https://browserleaks.com/client-hints I'm sorry, my attachment limit is full. And I can't test higher versions, I didn't port them yet.2 points

Most private data collecting browsers, like the infamous Chinese Opera, don't allow to use that flag! This ought to tell something! We, along with @D.Draker, discovered it's bound to Opera Customer Unique ID.1 point

I hope you all know that a new profile must be initially created using the two portable flags, and don't even think to launch it without them even once!1 point

You're right, but when you hear "flash drive," think "USB stick," "USB flash drive," "thumb drive," etc.1 point
-
Both use flash memory chips. Drives which use flash memory chips are logically flash drives even when the term flash drive is often used for a USB stick in the English language but not in the German language. But the question was actually a completely different one. That's just a side issue.1 point
-
Encryption creates a unique ID of your machine, it's used for fingerprinting. For example, Thorium developer can trace you by the logs. It's very convenient for devs to see which machine generated an error. In Brave and other Chromes it's used in guinea pigs "variations" tests. Google what it is.1 point

@feodor2 Just a short feedback. Your most recent release Mypal 68.14.2b is really great. A lot of improvements and better web compatibility. Even Codeberg does not show an error anymore as far as I can see. Many thanks for your efforts! Great release!1 point
-
I did not get this captcha when I called it up in Mypal 68.14.2b from Germany. And TBH, this website is totally bloated and cumbersome. Good stuff for my Android tablet if at all.1 point
-
There's no reason to use the flag, unless you need Thorium to be fully portable, By "portable," i mean a browser that could be moved to another machine without losing passwords/cookies/etc. EDIT: too early in the morning to think, edited. Sorry.1 point

Oh, so this is where Moonchild crew is going (regarding AVX builds)! https://www.phoronix.com/news/Ubuntu-x86-64-v3-Experiment https://www.phoronix.com/news/RedHat-RHEL10-x86-64-v3-Explore BTW, H.265/HEVC video codec was brought up a while back, the only browser with working implementation that doesn't require GPU support for it I found is Thorium.1 point

Because it's more of a nuisance than genuine security feature. To me, it's the same s*** most banks are pulling off with convoluted ways to lock access to one's account/banking services to one device. And how are we more "secure" for it?1 point

found a bug of selecting numbers as text in UXP and SP55, but too late for replacing binaries. will be available in next build.1 point

The pixai issue looks like a longstanding Firefox bug, finally fixed in Mo 93. CreateImageBitmap is supposed to take 1, 2, 5, or 6 parameters, but the 2-parameter case throws this error. This appears to be the fix: https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/rev/426b58b5faa1. Not sure if it can be backported to UXP; we may need to wait on an upstream fix.1 point
-
I don't know if this is a "known issue" because I've seen nobody else discussing it in this forum. However, I too can confirm your findings. What you are describing with StartAllBack with the widgets icon/button not opening with "classic taskbar" enabled does nothing. Hovering over the widget though does show tooltip info on whatever is updating on the widget icon: weather, stocks, alerts...ect. Nice to know I'm not alone here! All browsers based on the UXP platform as, for example, New Moon 28 or Serpent 52. Here are two links: https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XUL1 point

Yep! I like UXP browsers. But if another browser offers such a security feature, why should I disable it? That would make no sense. I only disable features which have a noticeable, negative impact of the system or browser performance. And of course those which cause problems or are not supported by the system anyway.1 point

No place here for feelings. Everything is insecure. The whole world is insecure. And in these days, more recent Windows versions like Windows 10 are much more likely to be targeted by hackers than the small fraction of 1% who still use Windows XP. It's simply not worth it. However, knowingly increasing general vulnerability and insecurity is something one can do, but one doesn't have to.1 point

Yes, well, @AstroSkipper likes UXP browsers very much and they don't encrypt their databases.1 point

Many issues in Windows are caused by corrupted or missing registry entries. From the very first in the 1990s, I learnt to correct such things. Especially, the installer and uninstaller of that time were often badly programmed and caused problems on a regular base regarding the registry. My Windows XP partition was created from scratch in 2004. It has existed since then without reinstallation only because of my maintenance and corrections. And the registry is particularly affected by this. For 100% portable use of Thorium, I have also backed up its registry entries and would create them if Thorium were to be run on another Windows XP computer.1 point

Another example, they simply include their business model in the account name, and their site in the bio, new (?) form of spam. Recently joined. https://msfn.org/board/profile/441166-pacific-lubrication-consultants/1 point

We have no way of telling/knowing what portable loaders you used to achieve that, and we have no way of proving/disproving it works or doesn't work in your case, I run this browser with my personally written starter App on Vista, so I don't care about that entries. @AstroSkipper doesn't run fully portable version, there's no reason to accuse a higly respected member of MSFN, and simply a good man, of trolling!1 point

This PreferenceMACs key is the strange one, extensions' data it holds are all binary, but it's always brought up when profile migrations are brought up. I don't know about registry in general either, I prefer a static set of programs for main Windows install so things don't get deleted constantly from registry. It would be interesting to have some reproducible way to "gunk it up" to make computer slow. There's a lot of snake oil out there for registry, "leaving it alone" works for me, I only mess with it if I know about some user program's setting I want to change or if I want to alter Windows behavior in some specific way. I definitely never went out of the way to block programs from writing their stuff there if that's how they were programmed. I ran NTRegOpt every once in a blue moon, but the impression I got was that in my case fragmentation was always low and not worth the bother. Windows itself (re)writes stuff there all the time, can't say if it really makes things slower with time.1 point

I'm using Windows 11 LTSC 24H2 build 26100.712. This is a retail update through Windows Update. My PC is not enrolled in the dev channel or Insider Preview. On older Windows 11 LTSC 24H2 builds (26100.1 & 26100.560) StartAllBack worked fine with the widgets button on the enhanced classic taskbar but now it doesn't work unless I disable the classic taskbar. When clicking on the widgets button now, nothing happens even though the weather information is still updating in the taskbar icon for the widgets button. Is this a known issue? I've tried StartAllBack 3.7.8 & the latest 3.7.10 and they have the same issue.1 point

Well, that really is news. BTW, did I mention that I have over 38 years of DOS and over 32 years of Windows experience? The registry is so to speak my home. And where do you live?1 point

That's already been solved, along with other fingerprinting defences like Client Rects, I sent you a message. Writing here, too, in case you read without logging in. Regards.1 point

Those two look also like the whole purpose of the accounts creation is far from technical aspects. https://msfn.org/board/profile/441008-c-care-preschool/ https://msfn.org/board/profile/440995-mike-lund-painting/1 point

https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/issues/62 The issue was closed, but it wasn't solved in legacy build. As I already mentioned, I am running the Thorium version SSE2 122.0.6261.169 WINXP 32-bit. If this legacy build was not fixed, why does Google Drive work in my installation then? When I tested it, I could log into my account and access my files without any crashes.1 point
