  1. Please, don't try to start a fight! The sanctions which our governments applied are the result of what your country does. Those are facts, there's no "hatred" in that. MSFN is located in France, thus has to obey. The time will come, and one day you all will be ashamed of your behaviour! Though, I don't believe in that.

  2. Yeah, Im certainly not moving onto the next version. Even if that means having to disable windows automatic updates. Not until I know I can retain my classic UI features.

  3. Russia is blocked because of spammers. Nothing wrong with Russian people posting here, if they are breaking a law in their own country then that is something they will have to deal with themselves.

  6. The Russian VPN ban is not a blanket ban on VPN usage. It is a ban on using VPN's to access web sites that are prohibited in Russia. Russia does not prohibit citizens from being MSFN members. MSFN blocking Russian IP Addresses is entirely different - MSFN does not ban any member from access MSFN via VPN, regardless of country of origin. You guys are seeing things through a narrow prism and interpreting things your own way. Feel free to discuss with a lawyer. Saxon, no you are not breaking any laws. Indicating that Xao_Fan-Tzilin is breaking laws is where you are wrong here. I'm done. Some times it is easier to debate with a brick wall then it is to "discuss" with people already of a set mindset.

  7. I have a similar Xeon Board from 2009. It was sold with the first edition of Server 2008. Server 2008 was issued to OEM sales on January 2008. Server 2003 and XP64 had some odd behaviour with the C-states of Xeon CPUs. I had to force C1 state only, and the issues were gone.

  8. You don't have to, facts tell for themselves! Besides, it'd be boring because you all tell the same. Regarding VPN, the administration of MSFN had their right reserved to block whatever they want, it's written in the rules. When (and if) they allow Russia to be whitelisted again, they will notify you, stay tuned. I hope politics wasn't the reason you joined MSFN, seeing it's your first post.

  9. Thank you for this deeper insight! I have never dealt with this before and was initially a little confused about these noop files.

  10. When these empty files noop.txt and noop.js are returned, will they be stored locally on the computer? Where are they generated at all? And what exactly means local in this context? Local file on the server, local file on the client/computer? In any case, I couldn't find such files. TBH, this all is a bit confusing. I found, for example, this redirect rule in the filter list uBlock filters – Unbreak: ||cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace$xhr,3p,redirect-rule=noop.txt,domain=~funimation.com|~1bit.space|~1bitspace.com Looking at the code, it seems that the file noop.txt will be created by uBO locally on the computer. Right? Is it only generated for milliseconds and then immediately deleted again? That would at least explain why I couldn't find it. Anyway! I would like to understand this redirection mechanism in more detail.

  12. @UCyborg I know you have implemented the "redirect-rule" directive in your new release. But if one wants to make your version 1.16.6b1 not perform such redirections, the entry ignoreRedirectFilters can be set from false to true in the advanced settings. Then your version 1.16.6b1 will behave like version 1.16.4.30 up to 1.16.4.34 again although this entry has the default value false in these versions which I never had to or intended to change. But when doing so, these strange noop.txt and noop.js entries are no longer in the logger. The network filter @@*$redirect-rule was only introduced in version 1.22 and therefore cannot be used. Although I understand the idea of such redirections, especially to prevent breakage of websites when blocking certain content, these entries in the logger do personally bother me if I am honest.

  14. Again a lie. In Russia, VPN is not prohibited, and access (in one way or another, as best as possible) to resources blocked by government agencies is also not prohibited. In Russia, only propaganda and dissemination of ways to bypass blocking are prohibited. Nothing more. So you still have to see the presence of russians on this resource. Fight with the Russian government or your own government, but not with the russians, we haven’t done anything bad to you (specifically to you!).

  15. I too (and others) use SAB for the classic taskbar mainly, if it is no longer available.... Not sure we're happy with the really ugly default taskbar (thickness, etc...) Or stay with the 23h2

  17. Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. "Putin bans VPNs in web browsing crackdown" https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40774315 "Signed by President Vladimir Putin in July, the law imposes restrictions on proxy avoidance tools." https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41829726 My advice for you is to calm down and let MSFN members be in peace. No one here "shoves" hatred into you.

  18. When I talk about data protection and internet security, it's always about privacy. I belong to neither the one nor the other school you mentioned. And people who spread all sorts of ill-considered stuff on the Internet or are willing to give away unlimited data can't be helped anyway.

The moderator above wrote that the blocking was done due to some kind of financial spam, so don’t shove your hatred into every hole!

  21. Not exactly true. There are publicly known ways of modern encryption to avoid that. Therefore, at best - they will know only the sites you connect to, but not traffic.

  22. Please, then do not allow comments like this to be posted here (according to forum rules, political and religious discussions cannot be started): To D.Draker: The time will come, and one day you will all be ashamed of your behavior! I am not responding to your comment with reasons and facts only because the forum rules prohibit political sentiments (although this did not stop you from writing your comment thoroughly saturated with politics and hatred)..

  23. Ouch, that's a problem for me – the new taskbar's awful (random button widths when not grouping icons, no small icons, no quicklaunch toolbars…)
    1 point
  24. Yes, but that may defeat the purpose of the app. The purpose of the app is to provide lightweight legacy UI with better user experience; leaving new UI hanging there may compromise that. So far we've agreed with MS to disable classic taskbar on 24H2 by default for now.

  33. Hello @Felipefpl! Do once again a clean install! That means you have to manually delete the file ublock0.sqlite inside your profile subfolder extension-data. But don't forget to backup your settings and rules first! BTW, I tested updating from version 1.16.4.33 to version 1.16.4.34 and didn't notice any problems when doing this with the alternative method.

  34. Hello @UCyborg! I have just tested your new release uBlock Origin 1.16.6b1 by using the ad block testing site https://test.adminforge.de/adblock.html. While my release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34 blocked all ads with a score of 100%, your version wasn't able to do this and got a score of only 84%. The comparison was done using the same filter lists and same own filters in both versions. I was checking the performance of both releases with the uBO logger to see what's going on and noticed entries about noop.txt and noop.js in the log generated by your release which I didn't get when using my release. As far as I know, noop stands for no operation. One consequence of this is that some of my own filter rules under the tab "My rules" are simply ignored when using your release. Any ideas what your release is doing on this ad block testing site? Here is a screenshot testing uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34 in New Moon 28: And here is a screenshot testing uBlock Origin 1.16.6b in New Moon 28: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  35. A good advice would be to search on the dedicated Acer forums or laptop BIOS modding communities. Probably they already know how to remove that hard lock. Probably it's not there at al (very rare)l, but the chances are extrenmely high it's locked since Acer is known to do that.

  36. From what I understand, they plan to remove all the classic features that currently lurk in the background. Task bar, start menu, and even the control panel. If the devs of SAB dont figure out how to actually add those elements back, SAB is going to cease working in the future. I wish the Windows devs would figure out this is a bad move, but I seriously doubt that is going to happen.

  37. Custom buttons - An underrated alternative or supplement to extensions Although most custom buttons are old or even very old, many of them do still work in @roytam1's browsers, Basilisk or Pale Moon. These custom buttons have unfortunately fallen completely out of the focus of users. Many don't know them at all or have simply never used them. I think this is a great pity, as they are a simple, resource-saving and therefore efficient way to add missing or advanced functions to browsers in which a compatible Custom Buttons extension can be installed. Most custom buttons are rather specialised and add features to the browser that cannot even be retrofitted with extensions. The reason is very simple, such legacy extensions weren't and won't be developed any longer to the extent that it once was. Only a few are still maintained, and a very few are developed from scratch. In these days, only webextensions are developed. Anyway! In my browser profiles, the Custom Buttons extension is always the first one I install and then all my favourite custom buttons. Only then are all further required extensions installed. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  38. This version has much more options than the old one. Its layout is more modern, and this Custom Buttons extensions offers features which the old one doesn't have. All is working in the moment as it should. This Custom Buttons extension seems to be a perfect choice especially for the more advanced users. Here is a preview. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  39. On some driver bundles it's simply not detected correctly by GPU-Z. But if the programme folder is present in the right location, the software will work. ProgramFiles/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 32 bit OS). ProgramFiles (x86)/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 64 bit OS).

  40. I'm not surprised. It means you got a re-issued 555 disguised as 710. I once bought a card that was named "GTS250", in fact it turned out to be a bit overclocked older model 9800GTX. Nothing to worry about. Those are of similar performance level.

  41. Some thing I have been work on in my very little free time. You know "Browservice" project right? He made a software that pushes endless stream of JPEG images to the browser that contain a website rendered by Chromium engine. Complete with fake address bar and front end JavaScript to capture keyboard and mouse. The idea sounds so ridiculous, so crazy, but it actually works on almost every OS and almost every old browser. Problem of "Browservice" is it doesn't feel convincing. IE constantly downloading images and status bar goes crazy (it appears that the memory leak exists). Also very slow when website has a animating. I did something similar but using RDP. Only for IE5 and IE6. Should work Win98/ME/2000/XP<SP3. I develop in XPSP2 IE6 and WinME IE 5.5 for now. Since it's ActiveX control, I am inside of IEXPLORE.EXE and have full control (that's how drive-by downloads installed spyware and virus back in the days). I use the power to intercept the menu, toolbar, address bar, status bar, etc. IE becomes only a bit of GUI under my control. All commands are redirected to remote server running Chromium engine there. RDP has the feature "Virtual Channel" to send messages (WTSVirtualChannelOpen etc.) My implementation so far browsing experience feels 99% like using real Internet Explorer because RDP protocol is much faster and get clipboard support, access to local hard drive, sound, video streaming, etc. for free by Microsoft. Unfortunately still very early in development. Downloads not yet work. History not yet work. Popup window not yet work (very difficult). But I hope that in a few months from now good old Win9x and Win2000 can join a modern Internet again. Backend in C#. Frontend in Visual Basic 6 with OLEEXP and patched SSUBTMR (just to prove it can be done, but it is painful). Maybe you will say that's the fake screenshot. Okay, you can do it. I don't have the argument at the moment. But soon I hope to show it running on real hardware.
