Thank you, Rob. Oh yeah, I'm a teetotal for life now too, not even a drop because I don't think I could stop at even a drop. Yeah, the vivid memories are there for me too and the days waking up in bed with my own p***, those were not good days or the best of me. Whatever awaits me (I haven't a clue) I'll just deal with it sober and only on the meds my doctor prescribes now.

A good advice would be to search on the dedicated Acer forums or laptop BIOS modding communities. Probably they already know how to remove that hard lock. Probably it's not there at al (very rare)l, but the chances are extrenmely high it's locked since Acer is known to do that.

I'm in my 13th year of sobriety and this occurs to me all the time. I can guarantee myself though, through vivid memory that being drunk (for me) is much much worse. The demons inside that we hide come out when I drink.

Off-topic, but I still use XP because I like it! I can always go over to Windows 10 on my machine if I need to do something which I can't do in XP. Now having Supermium means that I no longer have to reboot into 10 because I have a problem with a website in 360Chrome, which is good, and I still almost can't believe that a browser based on Chromium 112 will actually run at all on XP, despite its issues! I hope to be able to continue like that for as long as possible.

Didn't know about that geo.enabled setting, I usually just choose "Never share location"...

No bard, no chatgpt, no bing can calculate it, IQ == 00 00 00 00

There are actually a lot of extensions or custom buttons that are just waiting to be given a new lease of life. Therefore, I would also very much welcome it if more users of UXP browsers who have the appropriate skills would fork and develop extensions or custom buttons. Strictly following the rule: the more, the better.

I am planning to embark on a kernel extension for Windows XP with a topic started here. Perhaps win32 or someone else interested in this Vista Kernel Extension could advise me about where to obtain NT6.x functions that can be integrated into the Microsoft NT5.1 libraries. I am wary of extracting these functions from Win7 libraries due to possible incompatibility with the XP kernel, but I am not qualified to judge what problems might arise if you do this. An alternative source sometimes recommended for extracting NT6.1 functions for kernel extensions is Wine. A Wine download for Slackware can be downloaded from here. Is there a reason why Wine would be a preferable source for extracted functions compared to Microsoft libraries? Why does no-one recommend extracting NT6.1 functions from Reactos? Should I rely on BlackWingCat's W2K Extended Kernel 3.0e as a source for extracted NT6.1 functions assuming that he is expert enough to select this code from appropriate sources?

Maybe, you try for example the extension KeePassXC-Browser in version 1.8.5.1 for Firefox 67 and up instead of the more recent ones for Firefox 96 and up. Reducing the minimum Firefox requirements inside webextensions rarely works.
