Off-topic, but I still use XP because I like it! I can always go over to Windows 10 on my machine if I need to do something which I can't do in XP. Now having Supermium means that I no longer have to reboot into 10 because I have a problem with a website in 360Chrome, which is good, and I still almost can't believe that a browser based on Chromium 112 will actually run at all on XP, despite its issues! I hope to be able to continue like that for as long as possible.

Didn't know about that geo.enabled setting, I usually just choose "Never share location"...

Thank you, Rob. Oh yeah, I'm a teetotal for life now too, not even a drop because I don't think I could stop at even a drop. Yeah, the vivid memories are there for me too and the days waking up in bed with my own p***, those were not good days or the best of me. Whatever awaits me (I haven't a clue) I'll just deal with it sober and only on the meds my doctor prescribes now.

A good advice would be to search on the dedicated Acer forums or laptop BIOS modding communities. Probably they already know how to remove that hard lock. Probably it's not there at al (very rare)l, but the chances are extrenmely high it's locked since Acer is known to do that.

No matter the topic title from way back whenever, no GeForce 8xxx or higher card has proper working drivers for Windows 9x. Just because someone added them "hopefully" to the INF file and created a thread about it does not magically produce positive results. Discussion of flashing one card to another is generally off-topic for this thread, but I don't think anyone would have a problem with it as long as it involved cards that were actually 9x compatible, In this case, both cards in question are incompatible, and therefore very much off-topic despite the initial discussion of them being well intentioned and likely arising from not knowing they were incompatible in the first place. Enough of this.

I guess you're not using Official Ungoogled Chromium v114 on XP! That's the main problem for many of us here, we want a browser that will still work on XP, and unfortunately the Chromium 86 based 360Chrome is now starting to get a bit too old. Chromium 112 based Supermium has no compatibility problems, but it's very slow and a dreadful resource hog!

Another nice variant, fully working in Serpent 52, is the extension What about:.. 4.15 which can be also downloaded from the Classic Add-ons Archive.

Found a problem today when scrolling through my Instagram feed using Supermium. It got to a certain point, and then froze, and the tab crashed, saying it was out of memory! I tried again, looking at the RAM usage, and as I scrolled, it went up and up until it reached 98%, at which point the browser froze. So, not too great on XP 32 bit where you can only have just less that 3GB of RAM available! I would have thought that it would have started paging to the system drive rather than crashing out, but obviously not.

There are actually a lot of extensions or custom buttons that are just waiting to be given a new lease of life. Therefore, I would also very much welcome it if more users of UXP browsers who have the appropriate skills would fork and develop extensions or custom buttons. Strictly following the rule: the more, the better.

Maybe, you try for example the extension KeePassXC-Browser in version 1.8.5.1 for Firefox 67 and up instead of the more recent ones for Firefox 96 and up. Reducing the minimum Firefox requirements inside webextensions rarely works.
