  1. Good luck. "Been there, done that." I've basically given up on XP. MOST here have! They'll just use their "secondary Win10", their MOBILE PHONE, or TABLET for the INCREASING number of things that can no longer be done in XP. It's SAD, we XP users gave it a good go. I continue to monitor Supermium, NM28, and St52 - but I can't "bank" with any of them "yet". As always, will see what "tomorrow brings".

  2. As did I. Strike 1 -- my Chase credit card web site could not work in XP --- I cancelled my credit card to keep XP alive and kicking. Strike 2 -- my water billpay web site could not work in XP --- I ditched NM28 and stuck with 360Chrome for a few years. Strike 3 -- my checking account web site could not work in XP --- I bought a "burner phone" with NO PHONE SERVICE and just use the checking account app over home wi-fi and "burner phone OS". Strike 4 -- "burner phone" became too much of a hassle as I "hate, hate, hate" mobile phones --- upgraded primary computer to Win10 and 360Chrome will work for checking account in Win10 but not in XP. Strike 5 -- checking account no longer works on Win10 + 360Chrome --- now all home computers run Win10 + Ungoogled Chromium v114.

  5. I guess you're not using Official Ungoogled Chromium v114 on XP! That's the main problem for many of us here, we want a browser that will still work on XP, and unfortunately the Chromium 86 based 360Chrome is now starting to get a bit too old. Chromium 112 based Supermium has no compatibility problems, but it's very slow and a dreadful resource hog!

  9. Yes. All about @roytam1's browser editions can be read here in this thread. And we had recently discussions about their diferences. Simply perform a search in this thread! In any case, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 are UXP browsers.

  11. I supplied you with the offsets and locations of master keys for all of those extensions for your "build" , what other "proof" is needed that they are there ? I have posted this publicly. BTW , you couldn't find them yourself.

  12. Please read the topic title again. See "8". So it's NOT off-topic. And when it is, we have our good admins to handle the situation, Is it clear? Get back to me, if you need any further assistance. Geforce 6/7 and 8 AGP/PCI-E Driver Edition for Win98/ME by Zak!

  13. So, you agree you're unfriendly, good. But funny how you ignored, "missed" the part where you misquote me all the time, trying to bring another (totally bad) meaning to what I write. Yeah, let's! Your turn!

  14. Press Shift + F10, type diskpart, then press Enter, then type list disk, then press Enter. Does a disk appear in the list?

  15. Did you try the diskpart command in Command Prompt?

  18. Another nice variant, fully working in Serpent 52, is the extension What about:.. 4.15 which can be also downloaded from the Classic Add-ons Archive.

  19. Thanks for taking the time to test and offer alternatives. I will try this last one, eventually. Cheers!

  20. I kind of like this route, to be honest. It's not like this is the first time the "players" have debated the "rules" and how to handle "losses".

  22. The original ones had left the game a century ago, and probably dead.

  23. The obvious always speaks for itself. Things that are such self-explanatory and clear do not need any longer to be explained in detail. Apart from that, a more in-depth consideration would be inadmissible due to our forum rules and of no use in certain cases anyway.

  24. Be aware that MSFN has an Inner Circle Gang that has somewhat of a "vendetta" against anything Russian (Yandex is Russian). I suggest everyone to do their own DD (Due Dilegence) and decide for themselves if Yandex is "right for them" or not. Run it in a VM, test for yourself. Personally, I have no use for Yandex. But I have never needed to so much as even try it, or Brave, or Vivaldi, or Opera (beyond Legacy v12), et cetera.

  25. Windows Vista is the initial OS to have Snipping Tool, and what it does is just capture a region (or a window, or full screen) to an image file. Of course, it lets you annotate on it before saving it to disk. For XP, there exists many programs for that same purpose. Good examples are IrfanView (version 4.67 at the time of this writing) and ShareX, version 12.0.0.

  26. If you don't want such tons of toolbar buttons (I personally love this extension ), then the extension More About 3.0.0 is a good alternative. You can get it via the Classic Add-ons Archive.

  27. Actually, the About: Menu custom button should work in Serpent 52, too. When I am back at my desktop computer, I will have a look at this. In New Moon 28, however, I can definitely confirm that this custom button works as it should. Generally, most custom buttons tested by me should work in both browsers. But, of course, we all know the proof is in the pudding. I have just tested it and have unfortunately to confirm your observation. Although there is the compatibility string of Firefox {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} inside the code of the About: Menu custom button, the menu of all about: pages does not open in Serpent 52. The button was created many years ago, though. Therefore, it definitely was developed for much older Firefox versions (< 52). That's presumably why it is still working in New Moon 28. But there are still alternatives in the form of extensions for Serpent 52 which can be tested. I will have a look at that later.

  29. Apparently, you have not understood my quotes and the conclusion to be drawn from them. Your statement does not correspond to the facts. With the release of NM28XP build 20240406, there were indeed changes, however, all coming from the the UXP platform.

  30. There are actually a lot of extensions or custom buttons that are just waiting to be given a new lease of life. Therefore, I would also very much welcome it if more users of UXP browsers who have the appropriate skills would fork and develop extensions or custom buttons. Strictly following the rule: the more, the better.

  32. Hey,I know their great. I have been using Custom Buttons since way back when https://codefisher.org was created. I basically was trying to get some people here to be interested in forking and supporting some of the Great addons still in the "Classic Addons Archive" (CAA) that still need a new home and developer. EDIT: XUL addons forever. They have the ability to change the browser UI. Web extensions can;t do that. I for one thought I would never leave Win XP but I was basically forced to go to Win 7 and the experience was Great.

  33. First thing that comes to mind: Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, basically all virtual CD drive software and mounting, emulation tools, virtual drives. Daemon Tools 3.47 works in Windows 98 SE, that's for sure.

  35. For Linux to take over, there would have to be new retail computers that come with it preinstalled. Most people just use whatever comes with their laptop (or desktop) and don't bother with installing anything custom. + Installing & finding hardware drivers is usually the most difficult thing when setting up a Linux system. Laptops with Linux preinstalled do in fact exist and they are called Chromebooks. So if Linux somehow takes over, it's gonna be Chrome OS or some other distro managed by a by a big corporation which won't be any better and likely more locked-down than Windows 11. Still, I don't see this happening in the near future and especially not in businesses.

  37. What I can say in any case is that Mypal 68.13.7b is also affected by this issue. And after a short test, Mypal 68.13.3b is affected by these sporadic crashes, too. All in single-process mode. In multiprocess mode, on the other hand, Mypal 68.13.7b doesn't seem to crash on Codeberg.org, i.e. just as in Mypal 68.13.9b. Greetings, AstroSkipper

  38. @feodor2 Did you observe sudden crashes in Mypal 68.13.9b when surfing on Codeberg.org? Unfortunately, I had to determine sudden crashes without any messages that occur completely randomly when clicking onto links on Codeberg's pages. However, only in single-process mode. All preference settings for single-process mode are set to the default values in my installation. In multiprocess mode, on the other hand, I could not observe such crashes. Any ideas?

  39. @Jody Thornton Have you installed Vista Home Basic on a computer equipped with a SSE only CPU? Probably not. I only ask you that because Mypal 68.12.8b is a release for such hardware exclusively. Testing this release on computers equipped with an at least SSE2 CPU is actually meaningless.

  40. Wise words! Especially when the purpose of these releases has already been clearly outlined in advance.
