I used NoScript many years ago. But I kept having problems with it and had to reset it several times to get it running properly again. At some point, I had had enough. I have been using a combination of uBlock Origin and ηMatrix for years. This works perfectly and gives me full control over a website.3 points

You're welcome, could also try Microsoft catalogue, and don't chase the newest drivers, I still run a 2006 driver for my LAN, it's better than the one from 2009. https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=3 points

Dave, but you wrote the disk is seen fine with a direct connection. Well, technically it's not 100% direct (it's still uses a SATA cable, but another one).3 points

@feodor2 Your new pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0 is really great. In Germany, there are two email providers that I've been using for a long time: WEB.DE and GMX. Both services did not work from the beginning with their full web interfaces in Mypal 68. But in your third, new pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0, they work perfectly, such as they should do. Thank you so much!3 points

No, you actually shouldn't get this popup message. Did you configure IE exactly as I wrote in my guide? Please provide screenshots of your IE settings! Do not add http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/ to the Trusted Zone of IE!3 points

I'm not among them anymore. TBH I only used it back then because I didn't know either uBlock and NoScript well enough and thought I "need" both. Figured I don't care for any NoScript's specialties and uBlock has the way of saying block/allow scripts from that domain if I'm on this domain, which is good enough for me. And yeah, as they've been saying for a long time, NoScript is convoluted ugly extension under the hood. I don't need to bog the browser with subpar JavaScript performance further with such extension.2 points

Yes, there is. Try HLS Stream Detector 0.4.3! You will find it in the Classic Add-ons Archive via this link: caa:addon/hls-stream-detector. I used it in the past, and it worked great. Whether this extension is still working in these days, you simply have to test it yourself after installation. Please report here!2 points

Answered here. https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1258067 Additionally, I had an HDD that ran with a bad SATA cable for years, it was slower, I hadn't noticed apparent errors at first, I wasn't particularly observant because the PC simply ran a surveillance camera setup, one day the HDD simply stuck at 100% load, but as soon as I replaced the cable, all got back to normal, even the disk speed increased (pointing out to the initially poor sata cable quality), and yes, when I looked at SMART, it had CRC errors shown, but corrected.2 points

@Gansangriff , perhaps if you have some spare time , would you test this @ArcticFoxie's latest (final?) modded version of 360 explorer v.13.2206 with your advanced methods of testing to see if there are such connections also ? 1 -- Yes , you seem to be confused on what UA-CH does , and what it does is : it will use any hints it can get to identify a user and make his fingerprint , hence the name with this key-word "hints". 2 - No , it's not a direct bypass . "the origin needs to gather as much entropy as possible, so it is likely to collect all the hints." Paragraph 1.2.9. "Fingerprinting". It will also try to identify your system with "'Sec-CH-UA-Platform-Version' Header Field" / Paragraph 3.8 https://wicg.github.io/ua-client-hints/ 3 - No , if you used countermeasures , like me. I could tell you many secrets , but like I said earlier , I'm not willing to broadcast them in the open . One secret I can share , how it detects you and with what (4). 4 - No , it detected you by the means of the vendor string : UA collected the hint that your vendor is Gugle, so now it compares it with your fake FF useragent and "sees" that something's wrong . Firefox string and "vendor" Gugle together, it's just not possible ! So you need to block the detection of this "vendor" string. It is NOT easy , you will need to write a programme for this. 5 - ENOUGH with labeling and classifications ! You wouldn't last long with a talk like that here , in Europe. Keep your "opinion" to yourself , OK ? I do not need it . I asked you to quit talking about my personality a million times . But if that gives you such a huge pleasure , go on . I guess it is still better than bashing your neighbours with a baseball bat , lol. 6 - Sounds like a sweet tale from a rich Californian corporate leftist. Smth like "we work for your safety". No , it will brodcast even it's switched off. "the Sec-CH-UA header will be sent by default, whether or not the server opted-into receiving the header via an Accept-CH header" .... 7 - https://wicg.github.io/ua-client-hints/ 8 - Yes, it does . It detected that you're cheating. And you will see in that article that it is still on , it will brodcast everything it can find. The Tale About The Version : I asked you if you trust Gugle , if you do , then you will also trust that it was available only starting from 84 , lol. ...2 points
-
Well , maybe only in theory. But let's do some real checking . You say it's not enabled by default ? You trust Gugle docs/papers ? (I'm not calling you any names , like you said earlier , just to make clear !) . This is only a simple question . Again , do you trust them ? Please do the following : Do not block java scripts (only for this test) , now change your UA to Firefox or any firefox-based browser , go here https://html5test.com/ and the website will show that you're cheating ! It will say something like : "You are using an unknown browser that imitates Firefox " . Where "unknown browser" would the real UA of our dear 360EE. And it is really unknown to the most websites ! How would you explain this ?2 points
-
Wouldn't it easier to use "no first run" flag ? Perhaps it will help with your gstatic connections. Do not get mad at me , it's just a suggestion.2 points

1 - No emojis are due to the browser's blocking remote fonts (which is a nice thing) . They are trying to make a privacy-oriented browser , you know . I did a 13th version for myself from scratch and I too blocked it. Also, blocked web-gl , web-rtc and other numerous things like UA-hints , for example. ( a very nasty thing !) 2- I use a very dated PC for the internet . CPU is from 2008 (quad) ! (soon to be 14 years old!) . And I do not see any lags , even though hardware acceleration is blocked completely due to disabled fingerprinting. Perhaps it has something to do with XP ? (I gather you're on XP , right ?) 3 - Problem with certificates can be solved with a cert. pack by @legacyfan , it includes the .bat . You do not even need SHA-2. But I'm afraid it could be deleted already . Check his account.2 points

Thanks for asking about my opinion but, to put it honestly, I don't consider myself a uBO expert ; in the past I had tried (hard) to follow the kind advice/hints of MSFN's uBO guru, @Sampei.Nihira, when he was still using these browsers in his XP box (now, I understand, no longer ON); plus, things I picked over time from GitHub issue trackers related to adblockers... It was via those avenues I was introduced to this excellent portal: https://filterlists.com/ a veritable treasure trove of content-blocking, open-source, subscriptions ... Being on under-resourced H/W and on a 32-bit OS, I had tried to slim-down (somewhat) my uBO installation (to reduce RAM consumption by the browser) and it was then when I spotted the "Optimized" renditions of the stock EasyList+EasyPrivacy FLs: EasyList (Optimized) https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ublock/filters/101_optimized.txt EasyPrivacy (Optimized) https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ublock/filters/118_optimized.txt I test-installed them in lieu of the default ones, tried them over an extended period of time and found them to be equally efficacious, so I'm stuck with them ever since ... I still have: https://hostfiles.frogeye.fr/#whats-a-first-party-tracker installed in uBO-legacy (recommended at the time by Sampei), which is still being maintained/updated; supposedly this isn't needed anymore in the current WE version of uBO, but can't say with any degree of certainty whether this is so in the case of uBO-legacy ... Until recently, I also kept installed some flavours of ZeroDot1's CoinBlockerLists, but these aren't being updated regularly anymore... So, basically, that's it ; IOW, the real experts must come forth!1 point

However, NS gets stuff no other addon gets. For example, dropbox has a cross connectino to google that only NS catches up. IA related stuff, I reckon. EVery now and then (once every tree months or so, to say something) it does so with other sites too. Worth it for the minimal footprint (as you do, I don;t use it globally, just for cross stuff and ABE.1 point

In my St52 copy, with the original UBO-v1.16.4.31b2 (will check the mods created by AstroSkipper hopefully tomorrow), I don't get blocked by the XDA-dev site ; I do, however, have many custom-added filter lists and several changed ones (out of the default set), so it's possible one of these is responsible for thwarting the blockade ... OTOH, I do get blocked by the HTG site, however I've learned not to be easily intimidated by such ploys ; uBO-legacy is still able to nullify the block by a simple "cosmetic-filtering" rule: ! 2024-01-13 https://www.howtogeek.com www.howtogeek.com##.bOvWNQ The purists will say that the ad-blocker-detecting script passes through and is still executed (unlike with the current, WE, version of uBO in supported browsers), but for me the end result counts, i.e. I'm free to browse the site without disabling and/or further configuring my content blocker ... Of course, it's always been a "cat-and-mouse" chase, so one must always stay alert...1 point

I fear it is not really a problem of the browser but the extension NoScript which is unmaintained and lacking of updates for many years. Personally, I think it's time to say goodbye to NoScript unless someone is willing to develop it further.1 point

UEFI support isn't even complete on XP/2003 32bit. Some drivers(USB3.x, eMMC, etc...) from Win7/8 are successfully backported to XP(thanks to NTOSKRNL_EMU project), but it requires a lot of modification to run in Win2K. It won't be easy.1 point

... Nope, I've never used NoScript in my entire browsing life (that'd be 17yrs now - the internet came in late in my household ); especially when it comes to UXP-based browsers, where, from the very beginning, "upstream" declared they don't support its usage with "their" browsers... I'm part of the "less-is-more" group here, only been using uBO (and, at times, Privacy Badger) in my browsers (both Mozilla and Chromium based) as content blocker, NEVER got infected through a browser, but I do acknowledge NoScript as having an avid userbase among MSFN members ...1 point

... Is that St55? Why have you renamed the main executable (from "basilisk" to "firefox") ? ... You'd have to discover this yourself, via trial-and-error. ... Make a backup of the current version of the profile file "prefs.js" and then, on a fresh St55 profile, try adding progressively, one-by-one, your custom "about:config" modifications, until the "fresh" profile breaks (i.e. produces the same URL crashes as your "dirty" St55 profile); been there, done that, NOT a happy pastime, I can guarantee you that ...1 point

... Can't repro here ; tried in both latest NM28 [v28.10.7a1 (32-bit) (2024-01-11)] and latest St55 [v55.0.0 (32-bit) (2024-01-12)]; what I can tell you, though, is that: https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar now redirects to: https://wiki.mozilla.org/index.php?title=Release_Management/Calendar&redirect=no and that last one loads fully and OK in both the above browsers; below, a screengrab from my St55's "dirty" profile: Try in clean profiles, in case one of your extensions and/or customisations interferes here... Thanks for replying! So you installed jetAudio 8.1.10 Basic and not jetVideo 8.1.10 Basic? When reading the description on their homepage, the jetAudio 8.1.10 Basic package mainly contains audio codecs. I would like to test it but I don't want to install the wrong package. So please, be so kind to provide the exact name of the package for installing the jetAudio Video decoder. Thanks in advance!1 point

Now I noticed "Ask where to save each file before downloading" doesn't work anymore. Apps like the German MKVToolNix 74.0.0 work fine though. It's mostly a browser and book readers based on chrome issue.1 point

This "XP" skin is very bright and has acid colours, otherwise I have nothing against XP and its themes. It's just distracting, I prefer to look at websites. not browser skins. My opinion, skins must be more neutral.1 point

It's the way how their kernel is written, not much you can do about it, unfortunately! I travelled through a million of light years, trying to speed it up, Xp/Vista would still be faster with HDD.1 point
