BTW, Youtube Downloader HD 3.7 is still working under Windows XP 32-bit (tested yesterday). Thus, it will certainly work under Windows 7 32-bit, too.2 points
-
Yes! It is the laptop of my lady but I have to administrate it. I really don't know why. I decided to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and not 32-bit at that time. We all know Windows 7 is a more recent OS than Windows XP (which is still my favourite). When Windows 7 was released, a 64-bit CPU was already the standard. Therefore, no need to install Windows 7 32-bit on such hardware unless the CPU is really a 32-bit only model, which was no longer the standard at that time, though. BTW, did you try a bit older versions? For example, Youtube Downloader HD 4.2.1?2 points

If an HDD runs fine when connected directly, it's 100% something's acting up on the route. First, cables, second - PSU, third - the chip, but also poorly soldered connectors. I use these, not ideal, but quite fine, I don't trust the supplied storage that comes with the disk. They are made from aluminium, painted black, super speed, it's what I use. Supplied with a 2A PSU and a good eSATA cable and one USB 3.2 cable (very thick, good quality). https://www.fantec.de/produkte/speicherprodukte/ssd-festplattengehaeuse/35-zoll-festplattengehaeuse/produkt/details/artikel/1479_fantec_db_alu3e/ Edit: Sorry, non English link, but I guess everyone's already familiar with German.2 points

I have an answer for this, too, starting with Vista - Windows has a much better error handling overall, computers working with faulty RAM sticks isn't that uncommon, not to mention cables. But if your Ultra ATA CRC Error Count climbs up, you need to replace the cable ASAP, don't copy the files with that cable.2 points
-
Yes, like I wrote, those cables/connections are just bad, they don't make good cables anymore. I had a case (which is very common now), the cables were made from aluminium with only a bit of copper coating! Such cables degrade very fast.2 points

If you disable dom.webcomponents.enabled in about:config, it should work. Guess the WebComponents polyfill provided by the website clashes with native implementation.2 points

https://www.mimovrste.com/ is practically unusable on my phone. Manageable in Pale Moon on PC with some freezes there and there, better with Edge and the like, the site needs horsepower.2 points

Try the portable version! BTW, running Windows 7 32-bit is not really a good choice, unless your CPU is a 32-bit one only. I used Youtube Downloader HD in the past but there are better ones, even for Windows XP. And to answer your question, I fear 32-bit OSes and programmes have been in a dying process for a long time, see Linux. The number of programme manufacturers is growing who have already abandoned their 32-bit versions.2 points

Agreed! I haven't allowed third-party cookies in well over two decades. My ONLY exception is strictly work-related where I need the following three exceptions in order for Teams to work (I use web-based Teams and not the Desktop App). But even these delete themselves when I close my browser.2 points

Either, you have to directly edit the mpc-hc.ini file inside the MPC-HC folder and to assign certain values to variables for playing YT videos in 480p. Here is the code: YDLMaxHeight=480 YDLVideoFormat=3 Or, you can edit slightly more comfortably the values under Options -> Advanced. Here is a screenshot: In any case, these settings work for me on my old, weak Windows XP computer. YDLVideoFormat=3 means to play the stream with the VP9 30fps video codec. YDLMaxHeight=480 is probably self-explanatory. When hovering the mouse over the variables, you'll get more information. Cheers, AstroSkipper2 points

Us folks here at MSFN are POSITIVE.. POSITIVE.. POSITIVE.. Anybody have any good jokes to cheer up this place? Ok I'll start! I'm not a fan of spring cleaning. Let's be honest, I'm not into summer, fall, or winter cleaning either.2 points
-
Hi there and just the fact that you replied tells me that something I said was meaningful and my presence at MSFN is for a reason and purpose. Yeah we just make the best of life as possible given the circumstances and yeah I tend to think in decades, too. No worries you said plenty with (both) what you wrote and didn't. Just those 2 words "I have" made my day, my friend. Yes and quiet is good without TV (especially the news) sometimes and I rely on my DVD collection as of late with my plant. Like for instance right now I have ever so slightly amityville horror running whilst I'm on here typing and its quiet and the guys are doing their own thing and not bothering me. I think you guys know when I go all mister blobfish on ya I'm just joking or got hit with the silly stick - I don't even know how that started or when but one day it came to me and now I'm (the lovable) mister blobfish of MSFN. ha! Be well @UCyborg and again, thank you very much and you're doing just great and making a living whilst following your gut feeling(s) and look at how you've contributed to MSFN (not just the money) but with your knowledge and honesty. I (and I'm sure I'm not alone) look forward to hearing much more you have to tell us about anything. Sal2 points

This is Cujo 5-1 to any friendly units in D.C., Hammerdown is in effect. I repeat, Hammerdown is in effect. If you are receiving this transmission, you are in a hardened high-value structure. Deploy green flares on the roof of this structure to indicate that you are still combat effective. We will abort our mission on direct visual contact with this counter-sign.1 point

And more importantly, thank Maroc himself (at My Digital Life forum) for the patched MPC-HC build for XP. Also, welcome back, IXOYE! Glad to see you talking again after approximately 8 months!1 point

Hi MPC-HC 2.1.2.18 on xp2 works very well with hardware decoding. I view YouTube mp4 videos in 1080p at 30 fps without problem with dxva1 added as an external filter... on an old Pentium 4 to 3 GHz PC with an Ati Radeon HD 4600 graphics card. Thanks AstroSkipper and nicolaasjan1 point

Thanks guys. AstroSkipper, The portable version gives same results unfortunately. You have Win 7 64-bit?1 point

OK, thanks, I edited the post and put the link to the comment instead of the comment's image link. This is the first time I hear about links expiring from GitHub's private-user-images subdomain, though.1 point
-
I verified how long links from this "private-user-images" GitHub subdomain stays active (for absolutely no reason other than curiosity), and I found that a link lasts only 5 minutes before it expires... So, put links to images by this method is kinda pointless, it's better to directly put the link of the comment or the issue the image is in, or upload it elsewhere then post it here.1 point

Go into NVidia control panel and select 'adjust desktop size and position' then try scaling on display or GPU. The scaling mode is usually by aspect ratio and sizing is adjustable if the monitor overscans but in your case it is underscaning.1 point

:OT No problem to access this website in Opera on my Android 9 tablet. :END OF OT In general, this is a website which is bloated and cumbersome. It can be accessed in New Moon 28 on my underpowered Windows XP computer, but why bother? Such crappy sites are food for my tablet1 point

The first time loading that website, yes, it's sluggish, but next time after the first time, loading it isn't sluggish anymore.1 point

I'm curious - why does site mimovrste.com /owned by alegro.cz/ load items so slowly in Serpent 52.9? I don't really need the site anymore, just curious.1 point

The image wasn't working as soon as he posted, I've waited for several minutes and hit reply. It can be checked by the time of the posts. It's several minutes only, so not likely the cause.1 point

See? It tells you "was retried", meaning it could be finished in the end, but failed to do at the first attempt, is there another cable and PSU you can try? What does Ultra ATA CRC Error Count tell you? (HDD sentinel)1 point
-
I had this error long time ago, for me it was the dodgy (wobbly) eSata cable. "Faulty SATA or power supply cable", but in this case also could be the compatibility issues of the new controller with XP. https://appuals.com/fix-the-io-operation-at-logical-block-address-for-disk-was-retried/1 point

Maroc from MDL has updated his release MPC-HC from version 2.1.2 to version 2.1.2.18. Here is a quotation from his original post: It works absolutely great. I adjusted MPC-HC to play YouTube videos in 480p quality due to my weak Windows XP hardware conditions.1 point

There's much higher chance they were mining on a 7 year old Pascal Titan XP, but mining on that weak 2014 Maxwell, really? https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/titan-xp.c29481 point

As I already wrote in previous posts, I used Spinrite 6.0 in the past, and it helped me to refresh old HDDs and to check a few pending sectors on them which were then remapped as good. This program has served me well. And I wouldn't hesitate to use it again if there were problems on my old disks. HDDs that don't survive this tool wouldn't last much longer anyway. A backup of their data is mandatory, only if possible, of course. Just to be on the sunny side of the street!1 point
-
OT: Maybe, you perform a statistical investigation to get data in terms of correlation. That would be very interesting for me as a mathematician. AstroSkipper1 point
-
For me, very important data, though. I have been dealing with hard drives since the late 1980s. Therefore, I have a lot of experience. Thank you! I am happy, too. Yep! And I will do so as long as my HDDs exist. It helped me a lot in the past as I already mentioned.1 point
-
It almost seems like you're struggling a bit with the real world and its data. This term appears in many of your sentences. Just a side note! Physics describes the real world perfectly, and I would not close my mind to it. And at the risk of repeating myself here, the strategy of data refreshing is reasonable in any case. Simply using the reason of a healthy, scientifically thinking mind! Anyway! I have explained this clearly enough in the previous posts, so no need here to do that again. S.M.A.R.T. values of HDDs are very interesting, helpful and definitely not meaningless. Of course, nothing can be really perfect, but I observe these values continously on my Windows XP computer using Hard Disk Sentinel Professional which is always running in the background. Reporting or rather alerting important changes of the S.M.A.R.T. values by Hard Disk Sentinel has saved me from data loss several times. And happened in the real world. Observing and evaluating these values led to technical improvements on my computer, which I made myself years ago. And the winner is: the horizontal storage. HDDs should be stored and used horizontally. This also has something to do with physics. In any case, that is what I always did and will do. And I have some real world data confirming this. My HDDs are very old, most of them more than 15 years. And they are working fine and are in a good state of health. On planet earth, no need to protect them from cosmic rays at the moment. But maybe, one day! Whether we (humanity) will still be alive then, or this kind of technology? Who knows! AstroSkipper PS: By the way, I do not believe anything. I am an atheist.1 point
