  1. Why do you want to give up? Pointing to those programmes is very appreciated by me and always welcome here. Any alternatives targeting Windows XP are worth to list in this thread. Even if this strange guy AstroSkipper already knows them.

  2. Dave, thank you for getting back at me, yes, nothing has changed,

  3. What is it with all these user-agent-based blocks all of a sudden? First Intel, then Xitter, elektroda.com.... I thought UA-based blocking was "old school" and everyone was supposed to be checking your browser's Javascript capabilities nowadays, but it seems UA blocking (and thence spoofing) is making a comeback for some stupid reason. (Although some - e.g., Xitter - seem to be using a combination; see @mina7601's recent post for example....) It's especially galling to see a ridiculous UA like just the word "Chrome" get past way too many of these stupid UA blocks, as if, "oh, you're using Chrome? Well, welcome; we don't even care what version you're running! But you over there, running Firefox - you'd better be running the very latest version, or a bas with you!" It's beginning to look like we should all just start spoofing Chrome 109 (last Win 7 version) even if our browser has no relationship with Chrome at all, and be done with all this UA nonsense.

  4. You're welcome. However, I am not the creator of this build. I only gave you a download link to the already compiled installer. But I am glad that it works for you and you could connect to a FastestVPN server. This special version OpenVPN 2.5.4 for Windows XP supports some stronger ciphers which is very important to establish VPN connections in these days.

  7. Thanks for pointing to IP Hider Pro! I have had this programme installed in my system for years and know it very well. However, I haven't used it for a long time as I have configured the VPN connections of my VPN services natively via L2TP and PPTP.

  8. After manual deleting the leftovers from the removed search engines Bing, Wikipedia and stp (Startpage) in the addonStartup.json.lz4 file, these entries have never come back. So, editing of those files works. You simply have to know what is default (inside the source code) and what was added by yourself.

  9. @Milkinis @XPerceniol and those who never used OpenVPN under Windows XP! OpenVPN is one of different VPN protocols. The OpenVPN 2.5.4 executable is a VPN client programme to connect to special VPN servers. There are many VPN service providers. Only a few offer servers free of charge, most of them offer servers which have to be paid for. The user has to download special OpenVPN configuration files from these VPN service providers which have to be loaded by an OpenVPN client programme such as OpenVPN 2.5.4. These config files can additionally be edited to match the user's needs if you are familiar with the OpenVPN protocol and the used syntax which in turn depends on the installed OpenVPN version. And here is a link to many different documents about OpenVPN: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn And (actually) just for testing purposes, here is a service called VPNBook which offers free VPN servers: https://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn In addition, here is a short guide how to setup OpenVPN to use VPNBook under Windows XP: https://www.vpnbook.com/howto/setup-openvpn-on-windowsxp Cheers, AstroSkipper

  10. Anyways, I'd gladly purchase a good Vista compatible video player with DTS HDMA.

  12. Right now I just got: "Your browser fingerprint appears to be unique among the 190,855 tested in the past 45 days.Currently, we estimate that your browser has a fingerprint that conveys at least 17.54 bits of identifying information." This was the last of many, 5 maybe 6 test today, all unique. One addon that manages to solve the issue of useragent (the principal vector of uniqueness testing with a fresh profile) is chamaleon, an old and very good xul extension (gone webextension now) with the same functions as before, and effective in mypal. I use the old xul extension in sp52, but it's database of browsers is unusable, really.

  14. @D.Draker Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, there is a problem, I can't make a new topic either. I have reported it to xper. I guess it's something which went wrong after the last server outage. Cheers, Dave.

  15. I guess I see these "browser uniqueness" tests along these lines -- I visit a restaurant that I've never been to and none of the staff know me. My uniqueness score is the best it is ever going to be because NOBODY KNOWS ME, I'm literally just another person, BLENDING IN WITH THE CROWD. I like the food so I visit again a couple weeks later. One person in the staff of 20 employees remembers seeing me from a couple weeks ago. My uniqueness score starts to drop. I start to visit more regularly and before you know it, the entire staff of 20 sees my car pull into the parking lot and before I'm even out of the car, they have my table ready, my favorite drink ready, and when I walk in they ask, "Will it be Entree A or Entree B today?" ie, the MORE I VISIT to "test my uniqueness", the MORE these tests "get to know me".

  16. Not quite true, once or twice over the last few years I was there too, at least once every time (that I can remember of), I must remark.

  20. No. I edited my already existing code for disabling the extensions' signature verification inside the file config.js which is located in Mypal 68's programme directory. This file has to be created by the user at some point and is already part of my package MYPAL_68_CB_requirements.7z among others.

  21. If you use canvas blocker and/or a combination of canvas.poisondata and resist.fingeprinting, you are basically guaranteed to have a unique fingertprint, every time you visit sites like that. The opposite that TOR, that's the intent. If you are not using any of the above, you should.

  22. Generally, you will be fine, as long as don't visit a country which is openly hostile. For example, France is a friendly place, very friendly and open, we just tend to keep our preferences to ourselves. When planning your vacation, it's advisable to check the warnings regarding that. I think it's safe to assume - you will be good in Western Europe.

  24. Is this really true? 70% sale sounds so cool! Though the shop says only "Up to 50% off!" "Wide selection of authentic software license keys at UBEATABLE prices". Someone knows what's "UBEATABLE" means? UNBEATABLE, maybe?

  26. I think Comodo TrustConnect is indeed a VPN service. Here is a quotation from their website: As you already said, it is a paid service. You will get only a short trial period free of charge. Unfortunately, they are keeping logs. Thus, when using this service, you are not really anonymous. And you have to install the TAP-Win32 Adapter. Here is a quotation from your linked pdf document: I don't like this TAP-Win32 Adapter. I had a lot of problems with it in the past. But anyway! Any choices targeting Windows XP are of course welcome. And we can't be that picky in Windows XP in these days due to the gradual extinction of alternatives. Fortunately, I still have a few paid services that still work on Windows XP.

  28. CD is only 16bit, properly backed up Vinyl is 24bit, I can hear a clear difference in favour of Vinyl. I have a good turntable made by Philips, I simply back them up to spare the vinyls.

  29. Please define "completely". So you want to say you can copy the supermium folder with your existing profile to another PC, and it keeps all your settings, passwords, extensions, cookies, etc? I'd like to see the proof of that. Thanks.
