  1. I check some programmes for updates from time to time. Regarding UniExtract2 I maintain an own article about such tools: No more and no less. And tools like WinRAR, 7-Zip and UniExtract2 are very important, especially for me.

  2. Great tool! I use it on a regular base. FYI, the most recent version is UniExtract2 2.0.0 RC 4 from 15.10.2023, though.

  3. New gens should have 10bits on HDMI via the 2.0b version, I think starting with 1000 series. I don't know about DVI, perhaps try via Display Port then? I doubt 1030 has it though.

  4. Thank you, missed it! I'll make sure to update, fantastic news, really appreciate! How come you have time to track down everything?

  5. He specifically requested a new version, he repeated it several times, though I understand you're trying to help with what you can. Is it fine if I say thank you instead of the OP?

  6. Doesn't work with Windows XP he asked about. Funny you suggest him to use the outdated XP Command Line Add-On version 1.1 from 22.01.2007 over Uni Extract with a convenient UI. https://www.izarc.org/downloads

  7. My post "4.2. My essential tools for solving problems in Windows XP — Part 2 — File extractors and packers" contains an article about the file extractor UniExtract2 which has been updated on 15.10.2023. Therefore, I updated my post. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  9. Actually I think @roytam1 should release a 64-bit build of MailNews. After all, as you said, Tobin releases 64-bit builds of Interlink, and modern hardware is all 64-bit nowadays. I think by the time you get to Win 11, there isn't even a 32-bit version of the OS available anymore. It may be simply that there hasn't been any demand for a 64-bit build until now. After all, a lot of his followers are still running on old hardware, and very few folks are using the 64-bit version of Windows XP. But he does release many other builds in 64-bit versions, so you might just ask Roytam and see what he says. I was just saying that, if a 32-bit program met my needs, I wouldn't let mere bitness stop me from using it! "It's perfect, and it runs fine on my system, but it's a 32-bit program, so I refuse!" That's where I would be getting a bit religious IMO.

  10. I wonder if you tried VLC player. It supposed to work with XP. Try, it's good.

  11. WinRAR 5.61 should definitely work on Windows XP 32-Bit, I shan't attach any links due to the recent very strange attention to my account. Just search for WinRAR 5.61 (Windows XP 32-Bit) yourself, easy to find.

  12. From what I read elsewhere, RTX2060 seems to be the bare minimum for that software. Of course we would like to try it regardless and help you! So attach screenshots and the exact error message.

  14. That pic a few posts above, of 15 or so tray icons, reminds me to ask: are there any plans in 3.7 to keep track of whether those are hidden or not? The reason I ask is that information is lost when you do a Windows build upgrade, which some of us do about 50 times a year. It would be almost magical at this point if SaB could have its own system for keeping track of them so Windows doesn't screw them up every single upgrade.

  15. Mypal 68 is a great browser for all still using Windows XP. This browser is constantly being further developed and is now a real alternative if @roytam1's browsers can't cope with certain websites. And for those who miss the old Firefox user interface, there are ways to change the appearance of Mypal 68. In my first post of this thread, I already described how to activate the use of JavaScript scripts and CSS stylesheets in Mypal 68 by adding uc.js and css files. The last week, I have done that more deeply and changed the user interface to get rid of all personally perceived annoyances. I deleted and modified different elements and added new to the user interface. However, as I've mentioned before, I am not a professional programmer, more of a hobby coder, but I do have some JavaScript and CSS knowledge to make and implement such changes. And I have expanded my knowledge considerably. In the next post, I will then upload screenshots of my browser window to give you an impression of what I have already changed. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  16. Is it possible to give an option to remove expired tray icons? for example I uninstalled Microsoft Onedrive, but 3.7beta still side by side shows two Onedrive icons.

  17. Yes, indeed. Personally, I think it's quite funny that Server 2008 SP2 never got IE11 support. If you purchased ESU, you will still receive Security Patches for IE9. IE9 was released in 2011. I don't know if it renders any page correctly in 2023. They should have updated the browser just like on Server 2012 R1 in 2020. Literally, patching a dinosaur

  18. Yeah but mina701, it's perfectly reasonable to offer up valid alternatives to bridge the gap. He just wants to read the files. If you're saying (like the OP) that only valid solution to an issue is exactly what was specified in the thread title, and no one can offer up a better idea, that's not being reasonable at all. You did understand what point I was trying to drive home in the doctor's visit scenario, didn't you? OK I'm done

  19. I'll say! I mean, you try to help a fellow Canadian The way he sees it, it's like going to a doctor and saying, "My leg is in pain, and I need you to chop it off"! The doctor replies, "No need actually! We have medicine that will get rid of that pain. You can keep your leg!" But tirigliu doubles down and says, "Wait! I specifically asked that you fix this by amputating my leg. There's no need for your silly comments!" Sigh!

  20. Well, they tell: "you can only use 10 bit color with DirectX applications" https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/how-do-i-force-my-gtx-780-to-display-10bit-color.416641/ The information over the web is rather confusing, I also don't believe it.

  21. "Guilty" as charged, it was me who placed the like to the very helpful post by the member @AstroSkipper, @AstroSkipper catches up with the latest developments like a lightning, both links were working fine, I installed the browser, but deleted it immediately as soon as I discovered it can't work with my paid audio streaming service. Can we now consider the investigation over?

  22. I previously set subscription to one E-mail per week, and I have been too busy recently to read these e-mails, so I'd rather log in to check replies. I've took your advice and I'll check the notification options. Thank you.

  23. Both links are Microsoft related. And the manufacturer of Internet Explorer 8 is Microsoft, too. I don't need to say any more, do I?

  24. That unfairly ties anyone's hands behind their back that are trying to offer assistance, doesn't it? UNPACKING rar files is not a WinRar-only issue. There are DOZENS of programs that can UNPACK rar files. Creating the rar files is a WinRar proprietary or paid software thing, put you only asked about UNPACKING your rar files. I suggest 7-Zip and second the suggestion for Uni Extract. Generally people that prefer interfaces of things like WinZip or WinRar will prefer 7-Zip over Uni Extract. IZArc is another good one that can UNPACK rar files.

  25. I still port everything through Proxomitron. My invalid cert errors a while back were related to forgetting to update my Proxo cert. Proxomitron sees everything FIRST, then a proxy-select extension that can select domains to go through Proxo, to not go through Proxo, or to block entirely, only after all of that does uMatrix kick in.

  26. An update on this project's development has been posted on my YouTube channel: Text glow is yet to come, and the blurring is still quite bad, however I believe that this will get to the open beta phase within 2024.

  27. First, try to forcefully set the full RGB mode. Second, 10-bit is only supported for their pro-grade cards, no wonder you see the black screen, even if the monitor supports it. Third, newer cards are tend to be overbright, so again no wonder there's a drastic distortion, they simply distort the vibrancy. Try lowering the digital vibrancy setting.

  28. Guess it's sort of similar how some devs don't do x86 builds anymore, Microsoft also doesn't bother with x86 version of Windows 11 and since roytam1 targets old systems and there isn't much difference in practice when using email client in x86 or x64 flavor and since he builds other browsers/mail programs, he might have just opted to provide 32-bit build only since it'll work on both. I'm still a hybrid, use some programs in 32-bit flavor and some in 64-bit flavor. There can be differences in favor of x86, older CPUs may be quirky. I find Pale Moon to be a bit more responsive in 32-bit flavor on my system. Somewhere it was mentioned less code will fit in CPU caches since x64 instructions are generally larger, so this could make a speed difference in certain scenarios in favor of x86. Though I never went into deeper comparisons, I do remember several years ago, when I was experimenting with DarkPlaces engine that runs the old Quake I and other games, 32-bit build produced slightly higher frame-rate while 64-bit build loaded map and all resources a bit faster. I was using high-resolution textures obviously, can't make good comparison with the load for computers from the 90s. But differences were small, load time 2 seconds at most and with FPS, also a frame or two if I recall correctly. Though I don't remember the frame rates anymore...frame times are more interesting since difference between higher frame rates is much smaller than difference between lower frame rates. On x64 Windows, there's always some extra work in the background for 32-bit applications, lookup WOW64. But when the code starts flowing and CPU is switched to 32-bit mode, it's as fast as CPU manages, until some system call/context switch.

  29. @WSC4! That's not going to work. Why are you trying to access the url http://update.microsoft.com/? This is not the correct link and will only end in an error page. Did you read the whole documentation? Here is a link: Under point 18, you will find the links you need to call up: http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=e or http://fe2.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en&g_sconsumersite=1 But I recommend to read the whole documentation first to avoid further problems. Using this method to access MU/WU means that all components have to be configured 100% correctly. And please note that I have written my instructions mainly for Windows XP 32-bit! This means that a few steps can be skipped under Windows XP 64-bit. But you will realise this if you read everything carefully. Cheers, AstroSkipper
