  1. Custom MSFN Search Engine Plugins by AstroSkipper The Mycroft Project is a collection of over 27 thousand OpenSearch & Sherlock Search Engine Plugins, especially for Firefox-based browsers. It is a perfect service to add search engines to supported browsers in a very simple way. I guess most of you already know this project. On the one hand, there are many search engine plugins created by Mycroft itself. Furthermore, many people have contributed there and provided different, custom search engine plugins. I did the same and created my own, custom search engine plugins for MSFN long time ago which I have recently corrected due to problems in converting spaces in the search string and therefore updated. One is for searching the Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes subforum and another for searching the Windows XP subforum. Here is a screenshot: With these plugins, the user can directly search the corresponding subforums by using the browser's search bar. Here are the links for installing them: MSFN - Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes MSFN - Windows XP My custom search engine plugins can easily be modified for searching other MSFN subforums. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  2. Exactly, how a country with their "government’s anti-American foreign policy agenda", which has zero American or British population, how that country can produce espionage-free software for the Western market? It's a rhetorical question. I don't know why you see me as your foe, why you never cease to insult me, you just agreed to the facts yourself. As for the second part - with your usual, rather ridiculous assumptions-accusations-insults, no I don't, but you have the right to report (if you didn't already), let them do the checks. In my country we've never ever heard of this dangerous Russian software "Kaspersky", I read about it only here, from you! What we think in Europe? Well, we don't have 1.6 million of Russians in my city, so we at least don't have to worry, when their populace reaches the X amount and they casually declare the city Russian, we'd be forced to use Kaspersky.

  3. Greetings back! Very interesting extension! I have installed it, and it works perfectly. Thanks for the hint! Of course, if I had had this extension on hand, everything would have been much easier. I put everything together myself, and creating my MSFN Search Engine Plugins was not the easiest thing to do. You have to know about GET and POST commands, and all relevant parameters for searching in the desired forum. In contrast when using the extension Add to Search Bar, you have to know nothing about search engines. Only a few clicks and the search engine is added. Great! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  7. Why not download it from a reputable source and place in the Opera folder?

  8. @yoltboy01 is a talented modder, what works for him, doesn't necessarily means will work for others. From what I read, the last rather simply modded and fully working Opera for ordinary people - was Opera 97 (Chrome 111).

  9. Greetings ; back in the glorious days of "proper" Mozilla Firefox, one of your compatriots had created the stupendous extension called "Add to Search Bar": https://firefox.maltekraus.de/extensions/add-to-search-bar The extension's XPI file (last version for Serpent 52 is 2.9) can be found inside the CAA ; since years ago, I had created myself specific MSFN Forums search engines via that nice extension - e.g. for this very forum: A popup appears, where you have to approve or edit the proposed SE name (and optionally add a keyword for that engine): and then you have your new MSFN SE: Best regards.

  10. @dmiranda While I think I'm careful, I'm not super careful, though when it comes to computer security, it's been my experience that probability of an awful incident is very low, low enough at least that I don't have to be paranoid about it. And if I can't have few nice things in this cursed existence, then to hell with everything!

  12. I searched in vain for something worthy of quotation in your last post. Are you saying that Kaspersky could be trusted if there were Anglo-Saxons living in Moscow? As I have pointed out before, it is the independent labs who “sing Kaspersky’s praises” - not I (who never used it as you well know). Am I more inclined to believe the independent labs than governments (including my own) that clearly have an anti-Russian foreign policy agenda? You bet I am! You and AstroSkipper obviously place greater faith in government pronouncements, which is the entire dispute in a nutshell. As I recall, Germany was eagerly awaiting completion of “Nordstream II” just two years ago, but now they have “seen the light” and become “born again” anti-Russians. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing - in fact it has helped to silence those isolationists in America who think we should withdraw from NATO and let Europe fend for themselves. (I was never one of those, although you have single-handedly caused me to give the matter more thought.) Frankly, the United States badly needs to pivot its attention toward the Pacific, where a new threat has been growing steadily. Meanwhile, Astro posts updates about Chinese security software and your accounts react as a matter of course. With allies like you, who needs enemies? 🤔 I learned the futility of reporting your accounts some time ago, but thanks for the suggestion. The mayor of New York City has indeed spoken about an immigration “crisis” recently, but the population influx in question comes from Central America - not Russia. You picked a peculiar topic in which to argue that the US government is “pro-Russian.”

  13. My YouTube buttons are at the bottom. If you are referring to Widevine buttons, I'm not the one to ask, I do not "do" DRM via web browser. I have streaming "hardware" (Roku) for all my streaming needs and generally do not "stream" on a 21" computer monitor or 6" mobile phone when I have 50" and 55" TV's for that sort of activity.

  14. I use Mypal 68 in single-process mode from the very first time. I never had any BSODs, neither when running nor when closing the browser. Recently, I tested this browser in multiprocess mode. Even in this mode, I didn't notice any crashes or BSODs. But the RAM consumption by this browser in multiprocess mode is terrible in contrast to the single-process mode. To reduce this RAM consumption I therefore rebased the file xul.dll. This way I was able to reduce the memory consumption in both modes. But I personally will definitely stay in single-process mode.

  15. Hi, I have the same Bsod, only when I close the Mypal68 browser. Much less often than before, but happens on 4Gbyte x58 motherboard (with multiprocessor in Mypal68 enabled). BSOD win32k.sys, bluescreen and compi reboots Dietmar

  16. On the laptop that I'am using for testing Mypal, I have 4GB of memory. I have always the same BSOD involving win32k.sys. BSOD occur at exit of Mypal with the following settings: layers.omtp.enabled - true layers.async-pan-zoom.enabled - false dom.ipc.processCount - 1 browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory - true PagedPoolSize - 0 (default on my computers) Only one log file in Mypal folder : !PaintThreadStart_A.log BluescreenView informations : https://easyupload.io/m/1lvuli (BSOD1.txt) BSOD occur at exit of Mypal with the following settings: layers.omtp.enabled - true layers.async-pan-zoom.enabled - false dom.ipc.processCount - 1 browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory - true PagedPoolSize - FFFFFFFF Only one log file in Mypal folder : !PaintThreadStart_A.log BluescreenView informations : https://easyupload.io/m/1lvuli (BSOD2.txt) In all cases, the BSOD occur when I close Mypal. In my previous post, there is an error, I can get a BSOD even after 5 minutes of web surfing. If I launch Mypal, go to the about:config for changing some settings and exit Mypal, there is no BSOD. I must do web surfing before closing Mypal to get a BSOD. Regards

  17. I never heard any American express a desire to live in Russia. Why would they want to? These days, no American in their right mind would even visit Russia (I certainly wouldn’t: Look what happened to Brittney Griner among others). On the other hand, I can easily think of reasons why Russians would want to live in the United States. Espionage is probably much lower on my list than it is on yours, as you seem to be quite paranoid. I happen to live in Florida now, and I am not “scared to even imagine” the number of Russians living here. There is no reason to suspect that they are “out to get me,” however I get the feeling that YOU will not rest until I have left MSFN for good. Am I being paranoid? I don’t think so! Do you have at least five MSFN accounts? Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that you do! The only alternative is to believe that Europe is teeming with people who think just like you, and I know better than that!

  18. No, on the contrary, the US government’s agenda looks very much pro-Russian, otherwise it wouldn't be 1.6 million Russians in New York alone. I'm scared to even imagine their amount in other US places, like Florida. I wonder how many of them use Kaspersky? Now tell me, how many Americans live in Moscow or Russia? Let me help you - none, Zero, zip, ziltch, nada! That's really anti-American.

  19. In that topic they discuss the portability of the Supermium's installer and or Supermium itself, but not the ability to store passwords, extensions and the such in the portable version, which the OP requested. For this win32 would need to re-implement the above flags I pointed out to.

  24. It does have WebGL and I have to assume you are referring to scratch.mit.edu and it is working for me. The irony here - the very first web site reported as "not working" is a WebGL web site!
    1 point
  25. I use WebGL on radar and other map sites such as https://www.mapquest.com/directions all the time. Not "daily", mind you. But often enough that I keep WebGL enabled these days. It's like Flash. Those that need it will jump through hoops to keep it. Those that don't (myself among them), find Flash to be one of the most annoying plugins ever created. Security Vulnerabilities are generally nothing more than hype and propaganda! Doesn't mean to not be net savvy and click links from unknown senders, as the saying goes. But 99% of us have never been hit with any virus or trojan or webgl or spectre or meltdown and that's despite nowhere near 99% of us running any sort of real-time protection.

  26. I cannot "appease" everybody! When I first started sharing my home-use 360Chrome for others to benefit, I disabled webgl !!! But 7 out of 10 "this web site does not work" were all related to webgl -- so I have enabled it by default because the MAJORITY of users (at the time) "needed it" for their want-to-work web sites to work. MSFN is comprised of smart people. Those that want webgl disabled, they know how to disable it. I cannot hold everybody's hand. Pointing out Swiftshader and Angle WebGL is patronising in my view! But that's because we've been down this road before. A dozen times. Always by people that have Vista listed in their MSFN Profile as their OS. But fair enough, maybe you weren't here when we already went down this road. A dozen times. Perhaps some form of not knowing history being condemned to repeat it. Because this topic has been discussed. A dozen times. Bottom line - no one upload is going to "appease" everybody and no, I'm not going to upload 18 different versions. The userbase knows that I used to, one upload for webgl enabled, one for webgl disabled, one for translate function enabled, one for translate function disabled, et cetera. But no, I'm not going to do that, if users want webgl disabled, they all already know how to disable it. </end rant>

  32. Vista's media foundation and Direct2D are fully compatible with that purely DX11.0 game. Though, it's not the case with the latest patch, so I lowered down the version, patched a bit, DX11 loaded fine, so no troubles, except for the bloody text. I patched DWrite from the Platform Update and placed into the game directory, the error is gone, still no text, I even replaced the game fonts with a working ones from an older game, no result. WinSqmAddToStreamEx replaced with WinSqmAddToStream. These are undocumented: GetFontRealizationInfo GetFontFileData GetFontFileInfo https://github.com/MyTDT-Mysoft/DllCompat/issues/9 So I replaced with GetFontData. I even hooked it up with the new gdi32, then it just won't start at all, throwing out the generic 142 error. Before patching the log file was: [INFO]main() [INFO]Styles enabled [INFO]CApplication::CApplication() [INFO]Create options [INFO]Starting physics engine [INFO]Starting 3d engine [INFO]Selected adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan dx11\DspMainDX11.cpp [190] : error: Assertment failed! Message: Failed to initialize DirectWrite. Now it's without the last line. But no ingame text, strange, as I see the Dwrite module is loaded into the memory just fine. Yes, I still use that 11 years old videocard.

  33. @win32, hi! So I got the game working, mostly because I took an earlier version, that was easier to fight with, I overcame both errors, I now have no fonts in the game. I have a question, is it possible to take everything related to win7 platform update and use locally? So far, I was able to successfully port DWrite from the platform update for win7, it loads just fine, but no fonts shown in the game. Why platform update? It doesn't work with simple windows 7 files.

  34. UPDATE: I found the problem, it's in the shell32.dll, not comdlg32. The bug is there when using both methods, local and normal install. I will later write what I did to solve it for me.

  35. Of course, I can say that. And I do it once more. Your assumption is wrong. I used Avast Antivirus, Avast Internet Security and Avast Premier more than 10 years. I know all about them. And I tried it on different hardware. Avast was abandoned by me due to my posted experiences months ago. Anyway! It's all water under the bridge. I use other, better and much lighter security software instead as I already wrote in this thread. What you are doing here is more of a body snatching kind of thing. Please, stop reviving old comments of mine! Or better, stop quoting me in general if possible! Thanks for that in advance!

And then again, it's so hard to imagine a mobo from 2000 to be the "right XP era hardware" . I mean , XP released to sales only at the end of 2001. So no XP existed ! What do you think I should do ? thanks. P.S. Hope you will get out of your depression as soon as possible !

  41. Thank you, nah, no shoulder (thank god) , it was a sharp object, I think it's better to describe it as I jumped on a pile of sharp crap, when trying to avoid the blast near me.
