@win32, as promised, the solution for both methods (local and normal), was to redirect Opera browser to the original non-modified shell32 from SP2 (modified in 2009). I forced the path through my starter app., (the one with the Opera icon, if you remember). Now dialogues open up just fine.1 point

Something has been going on with Windows Defender update. Today was the first time in 6 days that I have been able to update Definitions, and that required 2 attempts on the Desktop computer. I was able to update the Laptop computer on the first attempt through Windows Update.1 point

Right! This function does not exist in Windows XP SP3 natively but in Total Commander. You can easily open a CMD window in whatever folder you want by clicking onto the entry Open command prompt window. It is located under the menu bar item Commands.1 point

Counter-Strike 2 is coming. Beta supposedly runs on 7 and 8.1 unofficially, but official requirement of Source 2 based games has been Windows 10. Additionally, Steam is pulling the plug on Windows 7 and 8 next year, as must have been brought up already. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2952326766 https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_21 point

For the clarification, it's not my post, but the troll's, on another hostile forum, where they put dirt on MSFN members. EDIT: @Milkinis hit reply to me by accident.1 point

Your're welcome! I could give a couple more. Would lunatic asylum be too rude for thy American ears? Here we just use the simple "institution", it is from Old French, the same as Engish, 100% identical spelling, btw. I already wrote we have very similar or identical spellings, esp. when comparing to the Brits. We don't use indefinite articles in French that often, though.1 point

Thanks for your understanding! In Roman and German law, there is the following principle: Ignorantia legis non excusat. Therefore, interpreted in a figurative sense, mea culpa!1 point

But he wrote "this issue doesn't appear with an hdd of the same size", meaning Vista works perfectly fine with GPT, but not with his SDD. About Win7, you're right, it doesn't work well with GPT/UEFI, I agree.1 point

1 - It would be "tribes of Asia" then. 2 - No, "in more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be chicken." https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/the-plural-of/chicken.html I was under the impression - commonly used, general form of English is what we use here, no? 3 - At least here we agree. 4 - Using hairs instead of hair was always deemed grammatically incorrect, at least in the 80s we were taught, only illiterates speak/spell like that. Your English is very good, btw. None of this is meant to say otherwise.1 point

Of course you aren't that stupid, you decided to wait the price goes up, when you add yet another million of likes to each other. I'm not your "bro", please stop confusing me with the neighbours from your village. Hey, weren't you blocking me for the 64 millionth time? You made a gazillion of announcements in each and every topic, also wrote an article on Reddit/Twitter/Instagram about that.1 point

But Erik wrote: "full DPI processing, decryption and content (payload) analysis (e.g., SharePoint file transfer)". Ok, another good example of using DPI would be LinkedIn being discussed here. LinkedIn is totally forbidden in Russia, which is no wonder for a totalitarian state, so we leave it alone, but what we are interested in - how they block it. "...internet providers have already cut access to the site, which has more than six million members in Russia." - BBC UK Now tell how their internet provider can cut off the access without DPI and MITM ? (more of a rhetorical question). So they block LinkedIn completely (incuding ordinary browser visit), not only their app that was found by using its pattern. See the red pics from their largest ISP with proof. Source: "LinkedIn blocked by Russian authorities" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38014501 Note: the article is 2016, they do it for a long time.1 point

For those who are interested in this subject (not in insulting other members), go on and educate yourself. You have to arrange for the clients to trust the certificate your DPI device uses to for ssl. This will even eliminate the warnings you talk about. US-CERT has an article on this very issue. DPI is not that difficult to perform, in theory and practice. https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/alerts/TA17-075A1 point

My old answer was mostly given to the local XP crowd, most of them , including but not limited to @NotHereToPlayGames, can't properly utilize secure connections due to the well known (and described here many times) limitations in WinXP. Take, for example @NotHereToPlayGames, who doesn't even use certifiactes (so we have to assume the warnings are off). There's some truth to what you say, but the next-gen DPI is more sophisticated and not widely shown in public articles yet, one would need to know more about the DPI they use on him, so you're not completely wrong/right , in any case , the argentina guy shouldn't have been that rude to you ! A hint for you would be to search for articles from 2023 , using the keywords DPI next gen, "...latest research report released in March 2023, 61.8% of leading networking vendors find that, ironically, SSL/TLS inspection increases their security vulnerabilities. In fact, security is named as the biggest concern for SSL/TLS inspection. The report ‘Deep packet inspection and encrypted traffic visibility for IP networks’ outlines the potential exposure of sensitive data and network encryption keys as traffic is routed through a forward proxy. Malicious parties can tap into these servers using legitimate lines of communications and subtly siphon out the information." https://www.thefastmode.com/expert-opinion/31355-how-next-gen-dpi-addresses-the-shortcomings-of-ssl-tls-inspection Also, the dangers coming from Deep Packet Inspection and Encrypted Traffic Visibility for IP Networks https://www.thefastmode.com/research-reports/31065-report-deep-packet-inspection-and-encrypted-traffic-visibility-for-ip-networks You shouldn't have been that rude to him ! Watch your language. We all here to learn and share. Behave yourself.1 point

I'm not surprised because ChinoRussia usually work together. (chinese router+russian spyware in one package=they are happy). I wouldn't use that router.1 point

This is a severely outdated info. MITM , DPI - Deep packet inspection will see through it with ease. And it's only a couple of examples I just gave you. Oh, the third one would cross-cookies, or cookie stealing. All of this is easily googlable.1 point

... This means they're targeting Win7 as minimum, now, either in their source code or the compiler they use is... In Vista, K32EnumProcessModules function is found inside psapi.dll, but in 7+ it was moved to kernel32.dll: see below: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/cppblog/windows-sdk-v7-0v7-0a-incompatibility-workaround/ If the actual source code is still compatible with NT6.0, then recompiling with defining _WIN32_WINNT=0x600 or PSAPI_VERSION=1 will produce a binary launching under Vista SP2 fine...1 point

From what I gather, @msfntor is a highly religious person and lives by the Bible. He doesn't celebrate Halloween, saying it's "satanical", etc. Lizards are missing from his weird dream and this could be seen as somewhat satanic and anti-bible because according to the bible all species should be present 'cause they are all God's creations. I'm not religious, I might be wrong, and I'm not good at reading dreams. I don't know why he asked me. My dreams tend to be more vivid and forecasting, I'd say. So I think it's not a miracle, it's otherwise, it's a sign of disaster - the World without lizards.1 point

You're very welcome ! Someone has a problem with you ? Just call me © . This screenshot I took on my "Emma", the torture PC, I mean the PC for tortures, testings, etc. Emma (2008) has only 8GB of RAM and an ancient GTX 780 Ti with only 3GB of VRAM (a fossil from 2013). And it consumes 560MB with only one empty page and no extensions ! Not to mention I switched off much bloat via flags. I don't have the v. 13.5 installed on my main 32GB PC anymore, but it had even higher RAM consumtion on it. EDIT: Emma name was given to honour mr. Bean and his girlfriend.1 point

Linked should work fine with 360 v.13.5, but I couldn't upload any photos. Well , I don't need photos there anyway , so. If you use 360 Browser, make sure to also select the chinese ad list in the ublock, just in case.1 point

Don't use Firefox, sorry, don't know. But I even used 360 Explorer for banking and still alive, that being said, I never keep huge amounts of money on the card, only 1000 - 1100 Euro max. And the card is a debit one, can't go beyond the current amount. And this is only if I need to order something from Holland or Germany, because we actually don't need cards at all, everything is available for cash and plenty of stores.1 point

I don't. Server needs maximum uptime and can't afford restarting due to updates whenever it feels like it.1 point
