  1. I've had enough. This thread is now locked and anyone continuing to bully, stalk, or whatever the heck is going on whether it be through other threads or private messages is getting a 30 day cooldown period, no exceptions. Let this be the last warning issued.

  3. ... and/or (as others here have suggested) just switch off multiprocess mode: https://techdows.com/2019/08/multi-process-e10s-can-still-be-disabled-in-firefox-68-or-later-versions-here-is-how.html Mozilla made it harder in FF (and consequently MyPal) 68 and above; you now have to set a Windows environment variable vs. just changing a pref in about:config, but it's still doable. N16s is quite likely correct that forcing single-process mode increases vulnerability to Spectre/Meltdown attacks (and that probably applies to Serpent as much as FF or MyPal); hence the increased difficulty shutting it off. But if the browser hogs too much virtual RAM, it'll start thrashing and end up having to be shut down and restarted, so if you have little physical RAM (regardless of OS) it may be worth the security trade-off. But remember, a major reason for the OP preferring FF-based browsers was to keep as many of his legacy extensions as possible, which I why I suggested Waterfox Classic. If one uses a lot of extensions, switching browser platforms becomes a major hassle.

  4. My mind is at odds with my age. My body has not been what it used to be for a long time. I give an upvote for the maturing of the spirit, but a downvote for the maturing of the body. And waiting for death doesn't really make sense, because the black bird comes all by itself. Instead, delight us with your excellent analyses and your knowledge of the code.

  6. Kid, when someone says he wants to report a child (who is obviosly without its parents observation) to child services, it's NOT *threatening *, it's called caring and protection of underaged children against the dangers of overposting in the internet. Also, it means you have to study more, since you still don't understand the meaning of English words, even after 13 years of studying it. Will you leave me alone, finally?
    2 points
  7. Please stop stalking me and stop replying to my posts, otherwise I may have to report you to the moderators and to the underaged child care services in your country, possibly even police, because those who are under 21 must get a special written permission from the parents to access the internet and make posts, according to your country's laws for underaged children.

  8. What did I tell you before? Where do you see your name?

  9. I agree to this. The pronoun "you" should be better used according to its nature as the second-person pronoun. In the English language, there already exists a collective pronoun "one" to prevent misunderstandings. Personally, I always try to express myself as clearly as possible. And there is a big difference between using "you" in the written language and the spoken language. Non-verbal communication cannot be used in written language.

  10. Just a friendly advice, the same I gave you before, you better edit the post and remove the "plotilitians" word (misspeled on purpose) to avoid reports, it doen't offend me or my dad from the same gen., but a user whose name starts with "m" miha89O7 might report you again because he reports everything that even slightly suggests anything political, be cautious, I read you already got a warning,

  11. In Modern English, you is the second-person pronoun, but in your local dialect, which we obviously don't speak, maybe.

  12. While on the topic of mental awareness, mental acuity, cognitive reasoning, postwar generation, et cetera - a small story -- I personally refer to the "Baby Boom" generation as the "Entitlement Starters". Don't shoot the messenger if this "title" offends, I am not here to offend but share a perspective. The world is best when we all learn from other's perspectives. "Walk a mile in my shoes." If this new title does "offend", you should ask yourself why did you just jump to the defensive? Don't let that "defense mechanism" of jumping to the defensive blind you from what I am sharing. First, "you" is a collective pronoun, I direct it towards no one person, it's just a pronoun. My dad was not a Baby Boomer, he predates that generation by half a decade, but he himself preferred to be lumped in with the Baby Boomer - I was able to break him free from that mindset but it took years, and that's too much to write herein. He saw politicians spoon-feeding and cradling the Baby Boom generation and he wanted his piece of the pie - in a way, don't we all? Keeping this "short" will not convey the full picture. Between dad and I, those conversations revolved around dad not blaming the Gen X generation for the woes of this world, but Gen Y and Millennials. And he almost always cast that blame with the same choice of words - "A kid is not ENTITLED to a trophy just for competing, the winner deserves a trophy, not the loser" "Why do kids these days feel they are ENTITLED to their first car being GIVEN to them" "What ENTITLES every child above the age of 12 to own a cell phone" et cetera, the word ENTITLE was almost ALWAYS embedded in this older generation casting judgment upon the younger generation I requested dad to keep a notebook at his computer and truly watch television ads over the next week and particularly focus on each and every time he heard the word ENTITLEMENT. Here in the USA, those commercials were HUGE not that long ago, they are not as huge now because the PEAK of that MOUNTAIN is now BEHIND US. These commercials were everything from ED pills, to electric scooters, to reclining chairs that help you stand up, to supplemental health insurance programs, to Welfare and Social Security Reform, the list is ENDLESS. Dad was a chess player also, taught me how to play when I was 5 or 6 and we played frequently right up to his passing year. So dad had cognitive reasoning. I asked him to tell me what is the common denominator among all of the television ads using the word ENTITLEMENT. It took him four days to find the answer despite him constantly wanting me to spoon-feed him that answer, I refused. He finally got it, all of the ENTITLEMENT ads were TARGETING one specific demographic and it wasn't the Gen Y child wanting a cell phone or a "participation" trophy. That was only the START of the conversation. It went of for several months. It was not the child requesting a participation trophy - it was the Baby Boomer sitting behind the desk in the Athletics Department that created that policy. It was not the Gen X teacher indoctrinating his grandchildren, it was the Baby Boomer in the Administrative Office indoctrinatinating his grandchildren. It was not the child feeling entitled to possessing a cell phone - it was the Baby Boomer grandparent giving it to them as if somehow having a lot of "stuff" as a child will make that child's life "better" then what they had when they were that age. Social Security didn't get to where it's at because of anything that Gen Y did, but because politicians felt the need to spoon-feed an "entitled generation" to buy votes. I could go on, but anywhoo... lol

  14. Many Americans, particularly those of the postwar “Baby Boom” generation (of which I am a relatively young member), seem to imagine that old age has been conquered, and that there is no such thing as cognitive decline (and therefore no such thing as being too old to run for elected office). I have played chess since I was a youngster and competed in chess tournaments, and I regret to inform my generation that cognitive decline is an inescapable fact of life! Consider that there has never been a world chess champion who was 60 years old, and only four men managed to hang on to the title beyond age 50 (none within the last 60 years). It’s obviously not because we are too feeble to move the chess pieces. Experience? Wisdom? Those things count for next to nothing when confronting a bright young CPU with uncorrupted chess software! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and there is an image on Twitter that perhaps makes this point more eloquently than I can (although you might not be able to see it using one of those Windows XP browsers): https://twitter.com/BobbyFischerTru/status/1599805129209049090

I had thought it "went down" years ago and I happen to be looking through some of my old favorites and found it. I am an Administrator at Sysnative and a Moderator at PC Help Forum. I enjoy helping others with their PC issues. I hope to contribute here more as I find the time. Thanks to everyone who works hard to maintain these helpful sites!

  27. Good suggestion. Lots of CSP errors helped me figure it out. Github now requires service workers merely to load its CSS! I use CSP to block service workers except when needed for a site to function. Had to add github.com and githubassets.com to the list of exceptions. In some ways I think M$ is worse than Google. Google just provides the rope; M$ actively uses it to try to hang you! Service workers just to load CSS. Sheesh. Could they possibly come up with a more complicated way to perform a simpler task? They must pay their Web developers by the number of lines of code they write!

  29. Thank you so much for this! It took me a while to make it work 'cause it was crashing at first, but then I realized that it was the VRAM size fault. If you exceed 64MB, the driver will lead to a blue screen (128MB) or a Guru Meditation crash (256MB), however, as long as you stick to 64MB, it will work like a charm in FULL HD 1920x1080 RGB32: This is the very first time that I see Windows98SE running in FULL HD... There's so much space... I'm not used to it xD For everyone running on a VM, this driver is definitely a must have, way better than the old SciTech driver and compared to the bear windows ones, it allows you to set 16:9 resolutions instead of being limited to 4:3 ones only.

  34. exactly and people always said: that will not happen intel will never support a such mechanism they dont just change their policies / terms of use to something more bad -> even more is possible now intel even removes SSE commands they removed the 16 and 32 bit modes too - what is wrong using a old hardware with a new cpu ? or also "security is always good" yes against yourself - and making the software secure against you for microsoft - security against you - security for microsoft and thats also why they stopped the support for this version there was nothing wrong with it

  36. @Cixert! You are really helpful here. Thank you for your contributions! IObit Malware Fighter, another candidate which is already on my list. Unfortunately, I have had the same unpleasant experience as you. IObit tries to push their Advanced Systemcare product on every user. This is totally annoying. I have also noticed the increased consumption of resources. And when you uninstall software from IObit, there is always something left over. Then it's a matter of searching and manual cleaning.. On the plus side, IObit Malware Fighter is still compatible with Windows XP, for whatever that's worth. Unfortunately, in Windows XP we can't be very picky and have to consider every option, even those we would normally discard. At the moment, we still have other options, fortunately.

  39. Back when i used to main it i used to have a lot of issues with it, such as : - EasyBCD would always break after a while, which is a huge problem for me because i always install other windows oses - Certain functionality would break, paint always broke, net framework would not work correctly some times, the taskbar was a mess and would sometimes stop working, the explorer would randomly freeze at startup, and so on It was simply too much of a mess to use it as my main operating system, i would unironically use windows longhorn instead of 11 because at the very least it doesnt break every second. And I do kinda like the os, it isnt that terrible, the ui looks nice, i hate the taskbar but other than that i dont really hate the way it looks, but the problem with windows 11 is that its literally windows 10 just with a fancy shell. I really wanted just to stay on the latest oses back when i used to main windows 11 but i really couldnt, i tried the crappy official versions, custom isos, and so on, one time instead of maining windows 11 i just decided to main windows vista because it was much better both in performance and at basicly everything else i used it for, features or apps i used wouldnt break randomly like with 11. In general, windows 11 is just windows 10 but its shell is crappier but it looks "better"

  44. And may I kindly ask where you want to open tabs if the tab bar is turned off? That does not really make sense. Tabs are opened horizontally or maybe vertically by using an extension. That's the way this browser works. If you need more space to read a web page, you can use the full screen mode with the F11 key. I know that for example in New Moon 28 you can toggle the visibility of the tab bar but I never used or needed it. BTW, most features of the legacy browsers can also be retrofitted in Mypal 68 with the help of userscripts with the extensions *.uc.js or *.css. Have a look for example here under custom buttons: Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  45. Chances are that eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) will even run on systems whose CPU has no more than the SSE instruction set. However, since the program is portable, compatibility can easily be checked.

  46. eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) is an offline virus scanner from MicroWorld Technologies Inc., free for private and home use. And yes, it is still fully XP-compatible. MWAV provides the ability to scan for and remove any virus, spyware, adware or other malware on your computer. The database is continuously updated to detect new spyware and adware, and the scanning engine is constantly improved for faster and smarter detection. It requires no installation and can be run directly from your computer, on whatever media. It can also run when other antivirus software is installed on your computer. To "install" MWAV on the computer, I recommend extracting the installer manually to the desired target directory and calling the executable file mexe.com or MWAVL.exe there. Reason: If the installer is called directly, all files are extracted to the system's temporary folder. For me, this is not an option. MWAV is available in English, German, French, Nederlands, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Greek, Korean, Norwegian, Russian, Polish and Latin Spanish. It's free of charge and still compatible with Windows XP. The virus databsse can be updated online and even offline if the computer is not connected to the internet. Additionally, commercial products are offered which were tested by AV-Test and Virus Bulletin with very good results. I can definitely recommend this tool without any concerns. Cheers, AstroSkipper

I wonder if maybe @AstroSkipper knows more about the store and the real owner. Thanks for the information about DeLock, I never paid that much attention, now I know. What I noticed - their prices went UP, when the assembly line moved to Taiwan ! And yes, you're right ! They look similar. But that doesn't guarantee both of them aren't a forgery/knock-off.
