  1. Thanks for the warm welcome, Vistapocalypse. Thanks for noticing my username . You're also right that this solution isn't restricted to XP and can be applied to Vista/7/8/8.1/etc. As you pointed out, the disadvantage to this method is that it requires more hardware. However, there's another way for XP users on lower-end hardware: RemoteApp. (Config instructions included in the link.) I've attached a screenshot of 32-bit XP Pro SP3 with 2GB RAM running Chrome 100+ via Windows 7. RemoteApp does not show the entire Windows 7 desktop. It shows only the application you're streaming. No additional third-party software is required. RemoteApp is a feature of Windows Remote Desktop, but you'll need KB961742 for XP SP3. The advantage is that it only consumes ~25mb of memory on the XP client (with all the memory consumption being delegated to the Win7 server machine). The disadvantage to streaming is that it can be a little choppy. For YouTube, you can use yewtu.be on XP Chrome 49 natively instead of YouTube.com via RemoteApp. In both cases, for VirtualBox seamless mode and RemoteApp, hardware to run a modern OS is still required for hosting the browser.

  2. Agreed. Horizontal for me also. The only justification I see for vertical is because the tab width shrinks when you have too many tabs open or you think you are better off "never" closing tabs. I call this "tab hoarding" and it is surprisingly a browser-habit on-the-rise. It's a practice that has been linked to Attention Defecit/Hyperactivity Disorder. To each their own, of course.

  7. Statement of facts: Nuhi (Dino Nuhagic, the Author of both Nlite and NTlite) is a longtime (and much esteemed) member of MSFN, and MSFN has always been the official support forum for nlite. The original nlite was finalized in 2008 or so, and then put "on hold" as Nuhi had lots of things to do in his "real" life. Nlite is/was completely freeware and support was largely through the MSFN forum. It actually had a license limiting its use to personal use, and while many people ignored it and used it anyway in corporate environments, others asked for a commercial license. Several years later (circa 2014) he developed NTlite choosing a "limited-free" version + different commercial versions, and setup a dedicated forum for support on his site (though we do have a section for ntlite on msfn). He isn't around on MSFN since 2020: https://msfn.org/board/profile/8552-nuhi/ AFAICR comments, critics, opinions (positive and negative) and discussions on his programs have often been posted on MSFN and (again AFAICR) they have never been moderated unless -maybe - when/if they broke the general Forum Rules. jaclaz

  9. On one hand: "Why do people put a space before a question ..." https://www.reddit.com/r/TooAfraidToAsk/comments/fwejui/why_do_people_put_a_space_before_a_question_mark/ 7 Apr 2020 — "It's for emphasis, tone or to symbolize your speech as relaxed or casual. Sometimes punctuation directly after a word can seem really harsh." On the other: It is also required by the rules in several major European languages, French or Portuguese, for example. I remember my short-lived pen-pal from Belgium always did it. Belgium has three major languages: Dutch, French and Frisian. In France we are demanded to put a space by the rules ! So, as we all can see, as a deputy helper, you deserve the bread you eat ! The fella you talk to, might not be English, or maybe he just reads Reddit too often, I dunno. In English, there is no space between the last word of a sentence and its question mark, that's what I remember from school. @Vistapocalypsesorry for the off-top, I didn't start it.

  10. Thank you for additional information! Too bad KFA 2019 only seems useful for Vista but not XP x86. (Of course KFA 2018 might still be an option for XP.)

  13. When I am back on my desktop computer, I will check whether KB2686509 was installed in my system or not. @we3fan FYI, KB2686509 contains the file kblChecker.dll and is described as a Keyboard Layout Check. It was installed in my system on 21.07.2012.

  14. Great job indeed, we3fan. AstroSkipper, for what it is worth, a clean install is almost always better than a lot of fixing and cleaning.

  15. Thank you very much, @we3fan! That's a confirmation I really needed. Unfortunately, I have to conclude that there is indeed a problem in my Windows XP partition (with all POSReady updates). And it doesn't seem to be related to the POSReady updates themselves as I assumed. Therefore, I have to investigate that again and this time much more deeply although I already did a lot of fixing and cleaning. Anyway! Great job! Thanks again for all your efforts!

  20. Add to the list : screaming in CAPSLOCK, "jokes" from non-English users, enormous amount of smileys, patronising language, cheap sarcasm, adding links to "funny" sources, junk/crap in someone's "signature". Saying "me too", "I agree" , making up and then writing absolute crap just to fill out space on the forum.
