  2. And my question is: Where have you been? Upstream's native WC implementation has been backported to UXP-based browsers by roytam1 (these, of course, include New Moon 28 - but NOT NM27) since the builds released on the first weekend of March: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184051-my-browser-builds-part-4/page/55/#comment-1239941 ... Roy spends considerable free time composing and putting up those Release Notes every Saturday but it appears, in practice, they go totally unnoticed by the majority of users here ; and it's a pity, TBH ... TL;DR: Grab yourself last Saturday's NM28 build and you'll see "what you really want to see"; BTW, since the native WC implementation is still being perfected, don't forget to update to the future NM28 releases as they become available ...

  4. It wasn't a Cold War joke, it was a warning to those that need or want to be really-really sure that they can trust the makers of the antivirus. I guess that those people will need besides the basics (genealogy trees, blood exams and DNA analysis) also a written declaration about political views (and maybe also religious beliefs) of all workers involved. jaclaz

  7. Sure, not only Germany, the US also banned Kaspersky: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184271-us-blacklists-kaspersky-antivirus-as-an-unacceptable-risk-to-national-security/ but that has nothing to do with my post, which was about the additional vetting of German workers in a German firm, checking their Germanic origin is only part of the answer. jaclaz

  8. Ok and okay! So, I have been testing all day with the new MyPal and I've not run into the same issues I read from others on github; but I also don't frequent that site unless I'm having issues and looking to others for help. Thus far ... seems to be fine but I disable a lot as my hardware isn't capable even if I wanted it to attempt to try such. Working well and will keep both 68.12.5b and the previous version and use this browser with regularity now. -Mister Blobfish PS: "Better JS Engine? Just curious on what this means - thank you in advance.

  9. I lost track as I edit that thing as it comes and haven't decided on which Git distribution I should settle ever since I've settled on my daily-driver OS, which is Win10 20H2...should I use the official one or the one that comes with MinGW environment or something else...so ended up installing none as I don't install anything I'm not sure I want to keep installed to keep the OS install clutter-free...and inside my head is also a mess... No idea... Uses 2 invalid class definitions as far as UXP is concerned, UXP doesn't allow variables and such declarations outside of class constructor. palefill-1.26.1.xpi fixes it, makes pictures appear.

  12. The bank that I use decided they will implement mandatory 2FA authentication to access their web services - the second factor second being none other than a smartphone app. For now it's still possible to access it using certificate installed on the computer and the password, but smartphone app is going to replace the certificate soon. So now you have to own a smartphone - to enter PIN code in the app every time to be able to login to the website on the computer, something that was possible without a fuss until recently. Now what really p***ed me off, their app must have tripped on the busybox (apparently one of many checks for signs of rooted phone) that was pre-installed with my current custom ROM and also sometimes came in handy in the past. Having only encountered one such app until now (for authorizing online payments - and it wasn't mandatory, you could've opted for dedicated code generator device), that was happy as long as it didn't find su binary / SuperSU.apk, this one caught me by surprise. OK, so busybox can be removed entirely. Or installed systemlessly (so it doesn't reside on /system partition) with help of Magisk, which facilitates providing root access, hiding it from apps that don't want to see it and providing means to be able to do other modifications without modifying files on /system partition. This banking app seems to have flagged my phone on their servers during activation process, so now can't be activated at all. It must have taken its serial number, which can't be spoofed in practice I think. There's Xposed module that does it, but there's no way around Google's SafetyNet with activated Xposed Framework. What a load of crap! So one's supposed to just buy new phone for one stupid app...which could function on the old one...if it wanted to. Planned obsolescence in general is really strong there...let's buy a new smartphone every year or two. New one would just be bigger, clunkier and preloaded with tons of crap I don't want or need, that can't be removed without root access and since Google's fixing SafetyNet... End of rant!

  14. Hmmm ... sorry guys for being negative again, but I have nowhere to turn and this is my home and I need to write. Still struggling with bouts of lows and I'm easily triggered by even movies I've already watched and used to enjoy. What have I become now as I've had to close myself out and shield myself away from news and anything that 'hits a string', this means I have to walk around with rose colored glasses and I don't like this and its no way to live being unaware. Sorry, guys, I realized I'm not making much sense but even the slightest thing and I get muddled. I used to (to myself) poke fun at those those that have to block out reality but now what have I become ... exactly just that. Ugh - forget it. Just still feel too fragile and I have a raging headache now from it. Do others here have to at times go into self preservation mode? Thank you in advance.

  18. Well, during that days you're talking about, Germany was especially globalistic - using the labour of foreign workes to produce goods, so it's nothing new. It doesn't matter what ideology is being used to cover the deception ! What he meant - it's exactly otherwise, I'm sure his posts have nothing to do with racism, albeit being offtopic.I want to buy Swiss cheese, so as jaclaz wants to buy Italian made pasta made by Italian workes and he wants to use an AV made in Germany by the trusted Germans, real Germans with no ties to other foreign (hostile) nations. There's nothing wrong with being able to choose what we want, as customers. That being said, I hope you understand he was joking about 15 generations and whatnot, but I still I hope jaclaz will suggest us an option regarding , say Italian made antivirus, I don't mind to use Italian software at all. I like Italian goods, also.

  23. I switched from Pale Moon to Waterfox Classic to Waterfox in order to access web pages that I needed to view. I just searched the Waterfox web pages. I could find no indication that they planned to drop Windows 7 support. Waterfox is a 64-bit browser only. I had to use Microsoft Edge for a while to access one of my financial accounts, but that problem was eventually solved with a Waterfox update. I prefer the conventional menu at the top of the page, and avoid applications that do not provide it. I still use Microsoft Office 2003 because I don't like the ribbon.

AFAIAA, you need install neither (for simple tasks), because, if you're on a very recent and powerful browser (e.g. ChrEdge x64), you can do most GitHub stuff on-line, via their native on-line File Editor - also, you can try their "New Code Search and Code View" feature: (not 100% compatible with latest UXP, but mostly works ), which can also take you to their "new", powerful, repo managing tool (aka "Web Editor") served from "github.dev" (this is NOT compatible with UXP, as it uses the "??=" operator ): https://github.dev/UCyborg/palefill/blob/master/bootstrap.js Thanks ...

You chose to use by your own rules, so no, of course it didn't work as it was intended. The topic of your WebGL being enabled or disabled can hereby be considered CLOSED. Further discussions only confuse new visitors. Bottom line - you used it in your own way, so you didn't get the results you were supposed to get because of using it in your own way. Q.E.D.

  30. If it's any consolation - A year or two ago when I started these public-share rebuilds, I opted to disable WebGL based on "security vulnerabilities" associated with WebGL. Most of those "security" reports with WebGL are dated circa 2011. Most of the "vulnerabilities" were later addressed by way of "same-origin policy" restrictions coded into the web browser. How "insecure" is a web browser in 2023 because of WebGL coupled with same-origin policy restrictions that did not exist in 2011 when these "security vulnerabilities" were first raised? Should I be "paranoid" about WebGL exposing OpenGL to JavaScript when I only allow specific whitelisted javascript? I have currently opted to enable WebGL and maybe, just MAYBE, I was a bit too "paranoid" to disable it in the first place.

  32. ... Probably enabling the (mostly "fixed" ) native WC+SR support in St52 (and backported to St55) is what allowed you to sign-in suuccessfully to Chase.com using St55... Fx 98 and Chrome 95, actually ... Latest St52 comes with a built-in SSUAO for chase.com: general.useragent.override.chase.com;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0 I'd suggest changing it to general.useragent.override.chase.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0 where 102.0 is current FxESR and chase.com don't allow anything older than Win7 ... Should at least rid you of the "Please update your browser" ribbons, until the "real" breakage takes place... (FWIW, their sign-in page is served from "secureXXea.chase.com", but the SSUAO takes care of that, too...)

  37. Surely 7 is "heavier" than Vista, but on a normal NTFS filesystem the number of files present in WinSXS is irrelevant (and BTW most of them are hardlinks) I believe more simply that 7 loads a lot more files when booting. Reducing the files in WinSXS has always been about "crazy" projects like installiing 7 on FAT32 or when really squeezing the install size for mini-windows and PE's. On PE's on slow media (USB) there are optimization techniques, but even if they can be replicated on a "full" 7 on internal HDD or SDD, they won't give any practical advantage And NO, that cmd is intended for offline (and basic/reduced) OS, if you try running on a booted OS you will likely botch it for good (if it works at all). jaclaz
