  3. Hi Dietmar Setup remote debug connection, otherwise you again mask error without knowledge why modded driver not compatible with new DSDT/SSDT tables. ValidateArgTypes() is very important and used in any opcode to check IN argument types (string, buffer, integer, ...) You can build debug version, it has a lot of tips/messages, to enable printing everything in windbg enter ed Kd_ACPI_Mask 0xFFFFFFFF before running kernel (use boot.ini /BREAK to instant stop)

  4. To Tripredacus: I wrongly presumed every town had at least one supermarket, so I didn't expect anyone would need to walk four hours to get food. It takes me less than two hours for the entire grocery trip. It takes me 50mins to go to the town centre. Basically, it gets easier (I started last October, the rain and the snow were no problems with the right clothing). I love it! Walking (while listening to your favourite music) is very therapeutic ! My next test is the summer: will the frozen food survive the trips ? To NotHereToPlayGames: Walking is better (not just because I don't know how to ride a bike), no maintenance and it's safer. As for flat battery, I used to have that problem too UNTIL I got a gadget from Ebay just a USB recharger (size of a laptop SATA drive) with croc clips to jump start. I thought it was too good to be true, but it was that easy to use. I'm rubbish with DIY etc, if I could do it anyone can. It was a best investment ever! To UCyborg: I know what you meant. However, I just felt so sad to see so much destruction that could have been avoided. The other leaders could have helped by reasonable mediation instead of taunting and provoking day in day out (what do they expect with more provocation, ammunition and sanctioning?) Now the innocent people have to bear the consequences, as if we had not enough problems with the pandemic of madness already. I don't know how politicians could possibly claim ownership of other countries. Patriotism is a man made concept like religion, we are the same species sharing the same planet. It's so foolish to self-destruct. The World could have been a lovely place. Now we can't even appreciate one and other in peace. PS Apart from the no hairdryer, no heating and walk whenever possible, there must be plenty other ideas people can share? Yesterday I discovered another one: soak the dried pasta in a pan of cold water until soft, it takes less time to cook. Give it a try.

  5. That option sets 360Chrome to clear the selected items each and every time that you close 360Chrome. The click the button dialog is because the very first time that a user sets this, they could have selected items in the GIGABYTE range, so the prompt is to clear that 'now' instead of waiting for the next closing of 360Chrome.

  6. Love the way you think! And while I am a "conservationist" (I don't "hug trees" but I have a strong dislike towards "wasteful" habits that most folks don't even see as "habits"), I have a different take. I only live 0.7 miles from work. No traffic lights between me and the office, just one 4-way stop sign. One tank of gas in my SUV will get me a MINIMUM of one month, I have been known to stretch ONE tank of gas out for THREE MONTHS. I rollerblade to work, I ride bike to work, but seldom do I "walk" to work. My first year at this job, I peddled bike basically 80% of the time or so. If it wasn't raining, I peddled the bike to and from work. It ended up COSTING me in the long run. The tires on the SUV "dry-rotted", small cracks where it looked like the treads were going to fly off. I was informed it was BECAUSE the truck didn't get driven but once a week or so! The battery needed replaced because it could not start the vehicle in the colder winter. I was informed it was BECAUSE the truck didn't get driven but once a week or so! So in my case, it is far FAR better cost-wise to DRIVE TO WORK but I live so close that I get a MINIMUM of ONE MONTH on ONE tank of gas.

  7. Just for fun I decided to calculate how long my commute would be if I walked instead of drove 12 miles. It would take 4 hours to walk that, but I suspect it could be shorter. And that's one way, so an 8 hour commute of just walking. Not really so much of an easy solution in my case.

  8. There is a chance that Moonchild will stop supporting Windows 7 when Extended Security Updates ends (January 10, 2023). I hope New Moon will keep working on it.

  9. 11 was made to sell windows to our newer, "simpler" generation of young adults/kids who literally don't even know how a file works. We (power users and enthusiasts) are not their target audience since we are not as profitable as the latter and it really shows. For anyone wondering why 11 removed taskbar locations and the uncombining option, it's because the taskbar is made in JavaScript using EdgeHTML, they are powering their operating system UI with f***ing web scripting (seems like they want to copy GNOME a little too much), and on top of all else, they have repositioned just about every UI element destroying a perfect harmony of muscle memory and familiarity for millions of users, and for those who think an operating system encouraging you to download TikTok and Instagram "isn't a big deal", just go ahead and look at how much RAM it's using right now.

  11. Yes I did mention a while ago that it would be really great if it were possible to have ProxHTTPSProxyMII with HTTPSProxy's user interface, I'm so pleased to see that it looks as if it is possible! I suspect that as far as XP is concerned there will be no further advances on the available proxy servers, which now seem to be pretty vital to keep full online access working on XP, once this has been done, that will be it for the foreseeable future. You may well find that your work will be used by many people who will just take it for granted and not thank you for it or give you any feedback about it, but you'll get plenty from me I promise!

  14. Hello, I have a solution on how to install adblock in Chrome and other browsers based on it. Just download Adblock from this page: https://code.getadblock.com/releases/ Then unpack the archive and delete the _locales folder. Next open the manifest.json file in Notepad ++ and delete "default_locale": "en_US", then save. After that, start Chrome and enable developer mode in the extensions menu and load Adblock. Unfortunately, there is no text in the GUI, but the extension is usable.

  15. Presumably when donations stop flowing in. That's not feasible for long distances unless you're Alex Mercer. According to the long history of bloodsheds, not with life in general. Extinction of all life is the only thing that would lead to true peace. At least whatever chaos would still remain in the universe wouldn't be experienced by conscious beings. But life always finds the way, doesn't it? Well I come here for laughs. IT is way overrated.

  19. It truly is amazing what people will throw away these days. I have two new-to-me freebie laptops just within the last week. Not that I "need" them, I'm up to nine computers scattered throughout the house and garage - all used at least once every two weeks or so but far from being used every day. They are both i3 laptops and still have the original "stickers" (my OCD has me removing "stickers" before I even install software!). Both circa 2014, both originally came with Win7 (still have the Win7 "stickers"). Both have Win10 on them and my guess is the owners found them too slow once "upgrading". I have my beloved XP on them now but have been experimenting with slipstreaming and tweaking Win7. One's a 17" and has a number keypad! First laptop I've ever owned with a number keypad to the right of the keyboard - and somebody just threw it away! Probably because (like most laptop owners tend to do) it was plugged in 100% of the time so the battery is DEAD because it was never depleted and charged on a regular basis, just plugged in 100% of the time. The other is a 15.5" and also has a number keypad! But an "extra" key between the left Shift and Z keys that will take some getting used to. If I were to rate them from 0 to 10 with 0 being "junk" and 10 being "brand new", I'd put them both at 9. No scratches, no faded keyboard lettering due to high usage, not even wear and tear from plugging and unplugging USB devices over the years. I've paid for "refurbished" devices straight from the factory that weren't in as good as condition as these - and somebody just threw them away because they don't know how to properly maintain a laptop battery.
