I'm using New Moon 27, but the procedure should be the same. After I downloaded the latest version I close the browser, delete the old "New Moon old" folder, rename the actually used program folder to "New Moon old", unzip the new version to "New Moon" and test it. If there is a serious issue, I rename the latest version to "New Moon new", rename the former back to "New Moon" and report the issue to @roytam1 here in this thread. All settings, add-ons and so on are not saved to the program directory - so it is safe. I would always keep the second last version for troubleshooting, so you can move back very fast. Keep in mind this software is in alpha/beta status! BTW if you want to backup your profile, you can use MozBackup! In DcBrowser - in the settings there is no possibility to try about:blank blank page... - and not only this - I have the other problem with this browser: it saves history surely (telemetry!), but there is no possibility to clean it, history persists between sessions, computer reboots... This can be seen on some websites, where the links visited by me are always highlighted in color! So I started to use one more extension: "History On/Off", which works very well, remembering the "Off" position through sessions and computer restarts. Maybe the browser data cleaning is not done?...Mystery... so I kindly ask @Humming Owl to review this...

When aero is off it is no longer being rendered on the gpu. So you gpu is completely irrelevant

The irony in the post by NoelC -- he observed 8.1 as being SLOWER than 8 which in turn was observed as SLOWER than 7. But what did he do with those observations? He upgraded from 7, skipped 8, and went straight to 8.1 -- despite his observations with it being the slowest of the three. So I think the bigger question is this -- why did he upgrade, why didn't he just stay on 7? Especially considering the post was December 2013 and Win7 still had extended supported all the way through January 2020 (and I've heard rumors that some have found support channels through 2024, I've not research that as of yet).

@jaclaz, of course you're right ! I just think he may have had an illusion . What illusion ? It's when you switch off the aero effects on slow hardware , the system "feels" snappier overall. Yes , of course the UI sucks , you're right again !
