  2. I am looking for an OpenSSL version that can be installed on Windows XP. The latest version that will actually install. I have come across these two web sites that list Win XP but the downloads will not install. Shining Light Productions / Win32/Win64 OpenSSL https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html Recommended system requirements: Windows XP or later 128MB RAM 500MHz CPU 300MB hard drive space ... and this site: OpenSSL For Windows https://www.softpedia.com/get/Programming/Components-Libraries/OpenSSL.shtml#download runs on: Windows 11 Windows 10 32/64 bit Windows 8 32/64 bit Windows 7 32/64 bit Windows Vista 32/64 bit Windows XP 32/64 bit They indicate that I need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable 14.50.35719.0 (x86) which I downloaded but it wouldn't install. From that download Visual C++ runtime for XP/2003 I was able to install 'vcredist2013_x86' on Windows XP. Anything higher would not install. ... just found this site on a search: Latest working Visual C++ 2015-2019 runtime for XP/2003 https://board.eclipse.cx/viewtopic.php?t=386 someone posted this link in the discussion, I have seen these names in the MSFN forum - MilkChan and K4sum1: Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One Dec 2025 https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ and there are many older download versions shown. Just would like to know what is the latest OpenSSL version that will install / work on Windows XP? I have downloaded several x86 versions but they don't install. Thanks ...
  3. @roytam1 Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 v16.7 Redistributable v14.27.29114 XP Article 11/15/2024 Windows XP Support: Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014. Current versions of the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015-2022 only support Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and 11. The last version of the Visual C++ Redistributable that works on Windows XP shipped in Visual Studio 2019 version 16.7 (file versions starting with 14.27). The Redistributable is available in the my.visualstudio.com Downloads section as Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 (version 16.7). https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 Configuring Programs for Windows XP The toolset supplied in Visual Studio 2019 and later doesn't include support for creating code for Windows XP. Support for Windows XP development is available by using the Visual Studio 2017 v141_xp toolset. You can install the v141_xp toolset as an individual component option in the Visual Studio 2019 Installer. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/build/configuring-programs-for-windows-xp?view=msvc-170
  4. Today
  5. I've seen that also. BUT... only in a VM (XP x86) with only 512 GB RAM allocated, so I shouldn't have expected too much anyway. I can get by with only 512 GB RAM for a lot of XP stuff (even 3D CAD), but definitely not for "semi-modern" web browsers. In my case, the GUI *eventually* showed up. *IF* you let it just sit there for FIFTEEN MINUTES or more and don't touch the mouse or keyboard the entire FIFTEEN MINUTES.
  6. yeah, a frameless transparent window and supermium doesn't ever try to draw anything on it.
  7. That's more likely,my Intel processor didn't cause any problems with the NT 4.0 VM...
  8. You say a blank window, do you mean that there are no GUI elements visible? I must say that in all the Supermium versions I've used, I've never seen that.
  9. The counter has not been working since maintenance in October. Perhaps simply disabled.
  10. supermium v138 can be used here, showing a blank window. v132 can be used but I can't find a way to downgrade my profile.
  11. I have accelerated my tests and investigations and now finally finished. And what I already mentioned in my previous post, has now actually been confirmed: an older version of Panda Antivirus Free is the solution. Panda Antivirus Free 21.01.00, the last version (from October of 2022) before the 22 series was released, runs smoothly under Windows XP without the annoying delay at system start-up. The main culprit of all versions 22.0x.0x is the process PSANHost.exe which does not run properly, leads to a full utilisation of the system during computer start-up, a very long delay and unsightly disturbances during other operations after completion of loading. Therefore, my current recommendation is to use Panda Antivirus Free 21.01.00 on Windows XP instead of the latest version, which is currently 22.03.05. At least, until the manufacturer provides a fixed version. I have informed the Panda support in detail but don't know if they will ever react. But I do hope so. In any case, my Windows XP computer needs now again less than 2 minutes for system start-up without any unsightly disturbances during later operations. So once again, the old rule applies: the latest is not always the greatest. Merry Christmas to all, AstroSkipper
  12. @Leokids123 It cannot be that the language version of the operating system affects the operation of the program - that would be stupid. I checked the Flash 9 289 (patched) plugin and it works in the same OS but on real Haswell hardware: The problem is probably the Ivy Bridge processor. I cannot also install Mac OS X in VMware on a host PC with an Ivy Bridge processor.
  13. Update. I still cannot do a screencap yet (new computer does not get internet connectivity until *after* I get the OS rebuilt to my "liking"). I installed Supermium v126 R7 inside a Win10 VM on my new Intel Core Ultra 7 and Supermium v126 does *NOT* have the font-indent issue. This issue is DEFINITELY hardware-related and it has ALWAYS existed (all versions of Supermium except maybe the most recent) on my 17/18yr old Intel Core2 Quad Q6700. And yeah, bad habit, but I always reference my computers by their CPU and not their GPU. I kind of doubt that I will bring the Q6700 back to life just for the sake of a font-indent issue screencap on old-versus-new Supermium. A font-indent issue that was present both "direct" and "inside a VM" on the Q6700 but does *not* effect (affect?) my new hardware.
  14. Update: I got 54.0a1 (2017-02-14) to work and that's the highest version that I'm able to launch. Later version launchs for a split second before crashing, I have not fixed the issue yet.
  15. Recently I have tried running Firefox 53+ on my Windows ME VM, turns out it can launch with XP dlls + either Vista 5112 or ReactOS (2014) DWMAPI, but with this method I can't launch 54.0a1 (2017-02-10) as the DLL is not sufficent enough. Vista SP2/One-Core-API DWMAPI.DLL freezes the whole browser during start so I don't want to bother with that. I tried the safer way by using the KnownDLLs + LZ32 method, I redirected DWMAPI to LZ32 and added the following functions on my Kstub.ini: This way I managed to get 54.0a1 (2017-02-10) working and also for the February 11th version I think AVRT.DLL was mentioned here but I do not want to try experimenting with Windows Vista/7+ dlls so I did the same to AVRT.DLL and added these stubs to LZ32 (Kstub.ini): And now Firefox 54.0a1 (2017-02-11) works fine at least in firefox safe mode, normal mode does not want to launch for some reason. (Update: Normal mode works fine after some tests): Though the font looks kinda weird. (I think this also happened on XP OCAPI at some point) Also I can't get 54.0a1 (2017-02-15) to work, a splash of window appears for a second. But it does launch. Also FYI I disabled e10s in about:config. Sure these versions are a crapshoot for Windows 9x + KernelEx, but I really like to push KernelEx to it's limits, also I'm curious about the state of Mypal68 on Windows 9x + KernelEx. Does it still crashes with RaiseException=v4? Since you mentioned that it's related to RaiseException, also I wonder if the implementation of NT SEH (correct me if I'm wrong) is even possible in KernelEx. I don't think returning v4/GetLastError is enough.
  16. Yesterday
  17. Besides,it should be noted that my Windows language is english, not polish,And this might be why it didn't work on his...
  18. Oh, I should also point out that the old Q6700 also had recent issues with WebGL. Or shall I say what a few here at MSFN perceived as possible WebGL. BUT... If one digs further into MapQuest (one of two web sites being tested at the time), it does *NOT* technically use WebGL. Per AI enquiries - "MapQuest.js, integrates with Leaflet.js, which primarily uses standard web technologies like Canvas and DOM rendering, rather than relying fundamentally on WebGL for its core functionality."
  19. I never dived into any. I do not keep Supermium around and only ever run it from inside VM's that have never seen Supermium until the run. So always brand new profile, directly as-is from the distributed .zip, never the .exe. Again, I may have been one version off as I didn't notice until yesterday that there is a very recent new version which may or may not have the font non-indent first letter half-missing. I may grab a screencap eventually, even if only found in older versions, so that others know what to look for. But... Um... Very, very low priority...
  20. OK, no problem! FWIW I've looked at the dropdowns in Supermium, the address bar, the bookmarks, the settings, and things like the bookmark bar popups, and all the font positions look fine. Anywhere else I should check? I guess it's perhaps an issue that only happens with some OS graphics settings.
  21. Do the Firefox 148 Nightly run on W8.1 and load websites?
  22. I have now installed fltmgr.sys build 5107 also under WinXP SP3 on my i7 desktop computer, by booting into Win10 and then copying fltmgr.sys onto the WinXP partition. fltmgr.sys build 5107 works fine on the 3.4GHz i7 desktop under WinXP SP3 and WinXP feels a little crisper The updated fltmgr.sys is a must-have for slow computers under WinXP, and a nice-to-have for WinXP on fast computers. The remaining question now is: Which build of fltmgr.sys is the best one for WinXP SP3?
  23. Nothing was damaged. This is because I use the same SFXCAB installer that Microsoft uses when distributing Updates. The file is still normal. 7z or WinRAR are not useful because I create compressed files.
  24. Pretty much as I discovered - I checked the three main Microsoft mirrors (mssjus, mschus and msvaus) with port 80 specified but had no hits on the Wayback Machine there either. 2.22 certainly does work on Millennium edition, and that's in the archive already, as is v1.1 for 95/98. If I could just find 1.2 English for Millennium, it would complete the set. In any case, I'll have a look at that Italian version as well, just in case the installer files can be used somehow.
  25. I am a registered member, and visiting a thread with 0 views does not count my visit. So, your theory is wrong. BTW, even not registered visitors were counted in the past. All that means something has changed in the forum software, and unfortunately not for the better.
  26. I personally like "numbers". Browser benchmarks, CPU benchmarks, forum post view counts, read counts, and even REPUTATION POINTS are *IMPORTANT*. ***BUT*** MSFN has proven that "reputation points" are *NOTHING* more than a "game" that people here play EACH AND EVERY DAY. I've come to see them as *FINE ART*. We have members NO LONGER active members whose "rep points" have TRIPLED now that they are NO LONGER ACTIVE MEMBERS. Look up the "value" of fine art *after* the artist or author passes on. I just sit back and laugh. And ramble about it every once in a while.
  27. Thank you, @MilkChan for these two builds. 7-zip and WinZip here says the second, SSE2 update is corrupt - would you mind updating the archive, please? Thank you, @Multibooter for testing. The funniest thing now is upon re-configuration of my mini-filters, my system works better than ever before with the 5512 XPSP3 fltmgr and filter cascade. I also put TimeOutValue = 3c (60) (s) DWORD before minifilter re-config in my "disk" service (CurrControlSet) that for some reason did not exist in my harkaz-updated SP2 (to uSP4) XP. That might have had the most to do with it...
  28. I'm not certain, but for some reason I believe that the Views is only increased when a registered member (aka not a guest) visits a thread. I may be wrong about that, I don't have another Invision forum to compare against. I know that on SMF, anyone (including guest) counts towards views.
