Thank you very much, MilkChan. I already used the file from Windows Server 2008 to verify whether the bug still exists. It does exist even in Windows Server 2025. But knowing which update contains the latest version of win32k.sys allows me to write an update for XP and Windows Server 2003, too. Otherwise I would be patching an old version which has other bugs. So, yes, I am interested in knowing the latest update which contains the win32k.sys for Windows Server 2003, too. At the moment I will stick with the 32 bit versions. I do not have much experience in writing 64 bit code. So I don't want to risk messing up someone's system.

The song information on the taskbar can be updated normally when using an old version of startallback (such as 3.6.12) or when the taskbar beautification of startallback is disabled. However, in the latest versions, the information in the taskbar can only be refreshed by moving the mouse to the status bar or the resource manager. This problem can be stably reproduced on both of my PCs, so I think it should be a problem with startallback.

I got my first contemporary smartphone. A Showme Redmi 14C running HyperOS 2 (Android 15). I am not impressed by how many hoops I have to jump through to connect it to the computer. When first connected, it showed in the Windows 2008 R2 device manager as "Redmi 14" of course without a driver. After I enabled developer mode by tapping on the version number and enabled file transfer in developer options, it now shows in the device manager as "MTP", which I guess stands for Media Transfer Protocol. The smartphone is still patially "locked" whatever that means and I am not allowed to access it fully. In my previous phone running Android Gingerbread I had to pull down the top bar to enable USB Mass Storage. It was a sort of hidden feature that I had to Google for. It then appears as a USB stick without any driver needed. But not so much with the new smartphone. Can I use this MTP protocol without installing bloated software? On Windows Server 2008 R2. (Not any current sofware that requires Windows 10) What other easy methods for transferring files are there?

I even managed going down to XP build 2474 for Firefox 48.0.2 / Firefox 45.9.x ESR to work. I managed getting Firefox 48.0.2 to work on Windows XP build 2474 at the minimum unofficially, see the text file: And functions like GetModuleHandleExA, GetModuleHandleExW, and IsWow64Process was introduced in build 2474, I tried to replace the stubs (GetModuleHandleExA --> GetModuleHandleA), (GetModuleHandleExW --> GetModuleHandleW), and (IsWow64Process --> GetStdHandle), and Firefox 48.0.2 launches a process (firefox.exe), but not initalized properly on Windows XP build 2469. Is there matching stubs for GetModuleHandleExA, GetModuleHandleExW, and IsWow64Process to try to get Firefox 48.0.2 to work on Windows XP build 2469, is it the system itself, or is 2474 the dead end for Firefox 48.0.2/45.9.x to work? The number of parameters (1, not 2) might not match and it might not return FALSE as needed for that 2469 thing. Firefox48on2474.txt

IMO it sounds like that music software is designed for Win11 taskbar only, which would need to be fixed on the app side. It'd be valuable to check if it also works on Win10.

@j7n I've been building with micro-ATX for ages, and recently even mini-ITX. The power is definitely there, and I'm really happy with the onboard I/O. I just worry about the longevity is all. The existence of the standalone cards is exactly why I want this to exist, and why I think it could still work. As you said, the carrier boards are the expensive things. I looked into it (PICMG 1.3 to be exact) and it's basically all industrial enterprise stuff, much of it old AND expensive. Makes it pretty unattractive for a consumer like me, as I could just pick up some cheap used PC for 50$ and be satisfied for long enough given the price.

Sorry to bump, but yeah, this is a glaring issue. I love everything else about StartAllBack, but the search functionality is woefully inadequate compared to the native start menu -- despite its nauseating, ad-riddled bloat.

what is an assembly? do u mean a good-to-go system? if that is the case, start by making a 15gig vhd, for example with the function provided in winntsetup (u will find the button on the bottom right corner of the application). then install the iso as indicated in the application itself. if u want a cleaner system, u can open sample.ini and take all the semicolons out (this will be important when winntsetup installs ur iso). after u have modified sample.ini, do a bit of studying of the various options wintsetup provides, and when u run into doubts, do not hesitate to ask in more detail here. I will reply asap.

I'm having some trouble confirming what is the last official shell32.dll version for windows 95 osr 2.x systems. The reason why i ask is because i want to ensure most stable operation, although i will be using a patched explorer.exe mentioned via below thread ( dencorso's method ), but for shell32.dll, i want to be sure im first finding the latest official before any discussion is made on using an unofficial one. I have a Dell Wyse 5070 test machine with two disks - eMMC 16 GB and M2 SATA 128 GB I installed on M2 WinXP 64-bit in pure UEFI and the OS works well. I have ported eMMC drivers but the system does not see eMMC disk both on system drivers and on those ported. There is only an SD controller device in the Unknown section in the Device Manager: I added HW ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_31CC controller to the sdbus.inf file but nothing helps. eMMC_xp64.zip Installation of the KB934428 update does not help either. That's how it was until recently. But full size boards with enough slots for everything have become uncommon and expensive. Now even powerful systems for games are built on a micro-ATX board. Video, sound and network are still on cards. I think you can find some USB but not very common.

Now, after @feodor2's versions cleanup, I was able to install Scratchpad 0.7.1 in Mypal 74.1.0 as a replacement for the removed, internal Scratchpad but it doesn't work as intended. The Scratchpad window is partially broken. No possibility to run JavaScript code. From this I conclude that Mypal 74 is not yet at the level of FF 72 or even 74 when it comes to extensions. @feodor2, am I right?

Today, I have installed and tested Mypal 74.1.0. @feodor2, thanks for this new version and for cleaning up the version number chaos! Good job! My favoured Alice0775 script loading method still works with this browser version as I have predicted in previous posts. And I am very pleased that the Custom Buttons extensions and all my self-created scripts also work there. However, one issue is still present in Mypal 74.1.0. Clicking entries in the Add-ons Manager does not work yet and leads to the well-known message that the address is not understood.

@tekkaman Motherboards are such fickle things. I've seen a few die, they seem to be one of the main causes of system failure. I believe integrating lots of things onto one board is probably what's causing that. It would be so cool if modern motherboards could just be a breakout board, with just a bunch of PCI-E. All the end-user I/O like USB, audio and video is supplied by cards. Kind of similar to AT, but even more minimal somehow. More expensive but there's an opportunity to build very modular and specialized systems. If a card or port goes bad, you can replace the particular card. You could also keep all the cards when you decide to upgrade the board. It would really cut down on waste.
