j7n Posted November 25 Posted November 25 The problem with the new topic lasted for a really long time, and only fixed now. I remember being unable to post on the Microsoft Office forum months ago. The Like button was used by a group of people with a leader whose name begins with "D", but they don't seem to be kiddies. I only use the like button generally when I've read what was said to me and don't want to reply anymore. While everything works, I'm keeping Supermium 132. Don't fix what isn't broken. 2
hidao Posted November 26 Posted November 26 14 hours ago, NotHereToPlayGames said: Um... Why? 1) I personally feel as if the "like" feature of this website is RUINING IT! Turns the website into some sort of KIDDIE GAME. Truly USEFUL members have little to no "rep points" because the KIDS are not logging in EVERY DAY to fill their QUOTA for the USEFUL posts. Rather, they only hunt for their "favorite people" (useful or not) and click that d@mn "like", even if that post was from DECADES AGO because that's what it took to fulfil that daily QUOTA. It's not against forum rules, so "carry on, you're doing great work". 2) I started using Chrome++ years ago, and it wasn't by the mention of the person requesting a "thumbs up" Did I give a thumbs up at the time? Don't recall. Is it really important "years later"? I assure you, THAT person is not REQUESTING (edit) SOLICITING FOR a "thumbs up". 3) Technically, I only "replied" because POSTING NEW TOPICS IS (edit) WAS CURRENTLY BROKEN. Respect your opinion...
NotHereToPlayGames Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Sometimes all I can do is laugh at myself. I spent the better part of two days in Ghidra comparing/contrasting Chrome++ version 1.11.1 and version 1.13.3. I wanted either - a) restore 1.11.1's approach for launch_on_exit= to 1.13.3, or b) add 1.13.3's ability to add itself to Chrome/Chromium's "about" page to 1.11.1 And all that time in Ghidra DID SOLVE MY ISSUE. ie, here is Chrome v140's "about" page showing that Chrome++ version 1.11.1 is being used. Only then did I discover this and adding this MANUALLY as a command_line= option also works (and much easier than digging through Ghidra, lol). 1
j7n Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Why is it that the Recently Closed Tabs feature under the down-arrow and the address bar don't show me the last addresses I visited? This is probably so in all Chrome variants and Google is employing some "wisdom". If I open Hamburger -> History -> History, the last entries are not the same as shown under Recently Closed Tabs. The way I see it, this recent exists to save me from using the Hamburger menu. Also, if I have visited example.com/a example.com/b example.com/c in this order, A may persistently show in the address bar auto-complete even though I haven't opened it for some time.
Dave-H Posted November 29 Posted November 29 The 'recently closed' list has always seemed to be reasonably accurate for me, although I have seen occasional anomalies where something which should be there isn't. 1

I run v140 (OT to Supermium but you did specifically call out "all Chrome variants", so it seems this time that OT = On Topic) and the Recently Closed Tabs is dead-on accurate. I've never had to use the Hamburger for the purpose of recent history. Edited November 29 by NotHereToPlayGames 1
j7n Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I use Supermium now exclusively, but had this issue in "new" Opera before. I see now one way it differs from history. If I had visited X,Y,Z in the same tab, I can only see Z on the list. There is no way to recall X or Y without opening history.
VistaLover Posted November 29 Posted November 29 (edited) 16 hours ago, j7n said: If I had visited X,Y,Z in the same tab, I can only see Z on the list. Makes sense; if Z was the last to have been loaded in the tab when that tab was closed, why do you expect otherwise? After all, the browser feature is called "Recently Closed Tabs", not "Recently Visited Sites" ; however, a closed-tab's history isn't being deleted (it's saved in session data); re-open the tab with site Z on it, then use the back button once to revisit site Y (or twice for site X, etc.) ... user57 Posted Monday at 04:53 AM Posted Monday at 04:53 AM is the missposition of the fonts still persistend ? in the past there was a smaller discussion, i reverted that GDI problem once and saw that they changed the distance handler from float to int i didnt have the problem of missposition, however in that gdi-chromium i think the int variant was choosen but if you dont revert it to float then probaly some fonts are missplaced or even not visable who dont know what a font is : a font is like every sign ABC123@|^ ect. - it is key for a webbrowser
Dave-H Posted Monday at 11:58 AM Posted Monday at 11:58 AM I have five different installations of Supermium, x86 and x64, on different machines and operating systems, Windows XP and Windows 10. FWIW, I have never been aware of any problems with fonts on any of them. 1
NotHereToPlayGames Posted Monday at 12:15 PM Posted Monday at 12:15 PM (edited) Lucky you! My fonts in Supermium have ALWAYS been offset on the left. Strictly referring to GUI fonts, in XP and 10. Fonts rendered on web pages have always been fine. Thorium had this font alignment issue also. But I only ever tried one or two Thorium versions so unsure if ever fixed. Dave-H Posted Monday at 01:55 PM Posted Monday at 01:55 PM Can you put up a screen grab showing the issue you have? Then I can compare it with what I have. As I said, it all looks fine to me, but I may be missing something if it's quite subtle!
NotHereToPlayGames Posted Monday at 03:58 PM Posted Monday at 03:58 PM Can't. I am in the middle of replacing my 17/18yr old Core2 Quad Q6700 computer with my new gift-to-self (take advantage of seasonal sale pricing). A screaming fast (compared to everything else I have) Intel Core Ultra 7 265. And no, sorry to say, but Supermium will *never* be used on this new computer, sorry, it just isn't. From memory, without screencapping, it's any-and-all input dropdown boxes in the GUI. Text inside the input dropdown is shifted to the left and half of the first letter is not present, buried by the input field border/padding. To be fair, the Supermium I had on the Quad Q6700 "might" have been a version old, not the most recent.
Dave-H Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago OK, no problem! FWIW I've looked at the dropdowns in Supermium, the address bar, the bookmarks, the settings, and things like the bookmark bar popups, and all the font positions look fine. Anywhere else I should check? I guess it's perhaps an issue that only happens with some OS graphics settings.
NotHereToPlayGames Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I never dived into any. I do not keep Supermium around and only ever run it from inside VM's that have never seen Supermium until the run. So always brand new profile, directly as-is from the distributed .zip, never the .exe. Again, I may have been one version off as I didn't notice until yesterday that there is a very recent new version which may or may not have the font non-indent first letter half-missing. I may grab a screencap eventually, even if only found in older versions, so that others know what to look for. But... Um... Very, very low priority...
