You just keep dancing around giving us the DETAILS

Dancing? I previously said: "I want to download YouTube with YouTube-DLP. The Open With preset has to be able to save various command-line parameters."

So I want to run program: youtube-dl.exe

With arguments: -f 299/137/298/136/22/bestvideo,140/bestaudio[language=en]/bestaudio --fixup never  --restrict-filenames --extractor-args "youtube:player-client=default,-tv_simply" -o "t:\working\%(title)s- %(id)s .%(ext)s"

What good is giving such specifics when tomorrow I may change the arguments.

what you wrote rather describe a small console where you can enter a executables name + that parameter

the createprocess function can do exactly this, so this might be a question for a plugin someone writes that is doing that

that %s is useally something for translate a string with something called printf with %s it knows that is a string

it either gets translated before given as parameter (then you not fine)

or the programm that reads that parameter untranslated with %s (then you are fine)

for a dll there would be the rundll.exe question

I shall wait for a user of YouTube-DLP to assist.  I have never used this and there is a LARGE following.  I would think several of them would jump in.

It is possible that you will gain more traction with a dedicated "Extension for YouTube-DLP" thread.  I would think several would join in the new thread that aren't even seeing this in a Supermium thread.

Granted, YouTube-DLP has been on my "To Do List", but very VERY far down on that list.  I'll get to it...  Eventually...

I found the Open With extension by Geoff Lankow for Chrome, but it is now old and doesn't work in Supermium ("Specified native messaging host not found."). I tried to install it in Opera 93, but it says that it requires Python to work, which is too much. Without it, nothing launches when I add a preset.

I use the extension by this author in New Moon. There I can add any program I want. If such a customizable extension doesn't exist, then I will accept it.

What is wrong with this website? https://forum.zdoom.org/

In Supermium it gives the error: ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR. In New Moon it doesn't open with the error "the authenticity of the received data could not be verified". It does open in Opera 93.

It is possible that I have disabled something related to HTTP/2, but nothing releated comes up. Have we moved on to new basic HTTP protocol that this site have embraced?

It doesn't work in Supermium 132 (I'm waiting for 138 to become an official release before updating).
It does work in Firefox 145 (on Windows 10).

you could try a shortcut and giving it that parameter you want:

https://superuser.com/questions/29569/how-to-add-command-line-options-to-shortcut#29571

it works very much like the createprocess method, so it might also work for a shortcut with a parameter

That web site does not work in Official Chrome v136 on Win10.  And does not work in Supermium v126 in XP x86.

Personally, I am *AFRAID* to even try to intentionally make it work when it doesn't work with "real" Chrome.

Also, I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out HOW to get "yt-dlp" to work (XP x86 VM with Supermium v126)!  I will not be spending more time on "yt-dlp"!

The "installation instructions" are far too complex (or I'm looking in the wrong spot!) for me to dig THAT DEEP into something that my lifestyle WILL NEVER USE beyond assisting somebody else that does use it.

Sorry, I really have absolutely NO USE in downloading from YouTube.  NONE.  "Te each their own", of course.

Yet another case of site admins arbitrarily blocking less than current  User Agent Strings...

Yet the site loads when a SSUAO is used to impersonate latest FxESR-140 on Win10x64

Using an extension to impersonate latest Chrome DEV (v144) makes it open in Sm-126, too :P

PS: Sm-126 by default reports itself as being Cr-132 ;) ...

that website https://forum.zdoom.org/ might be some bull....

it dont open for me at all this machine is on a win7 + all upgrades version - having chrome and firefox and IE11

a website what dont open on many varieties useally is just bull....

there used to be such problems in the past only a certain browser, only a certain version, maybe only a certain os

it raise questions what the website even wants to display - i guess its nothing special

and chrome v138 should be by FAR enough to display

well whatever its also getting off-topic - but something went wrong here - and its not just a browser problem

(I'm waiting for 138 to become an official release before updating)

I only upgrade if Speedometer 2.1 reveals newer to be faster.

My preference has been v136.

v137 is within margin of error so I never bothered to upgrade to v137.

v138 and v139 took major hits and DECREASED scores, so no interest in either.

v140, v141, and v142 are indeed faster based on Speedometer scores (and others, it's just the easiest to get a score).

My next (once I do upgrade) will be v141.  Then keep it until it "needs" upgraded.  I really really REALLY prefer to stick with ONE and not update every (feel like) three days!

The web site being discussed here isn't going to be enough to get me to upgrade, but it is probably writing on the wall that my v136 will have to soon be replaced.

i think we will soon have answers, maybe its a version check - there would be the chrome version or the winhttp request that contains the os name (both can be changed)

then a version changer will open the website up, if not we will see "what´s so very special" that this website wants to display

but i think its nothing special

a programm like that really would raise questions a great lack of compatibility - i also dont know whats worse a programm like that or a browser like that

both would be a mental illness and great lack of programming skill

It looks like a normal forum site to me, I can't imagine why it would need any abnormal level of security.

I don't really look at it that way.

If it were my BANK not working, then I would classify it as "security".

I always ponder PRIVACY RIGHTS if a web site needs something that my browser isn't providing.

None of these types of things ever make any sense to me!

Web sites that use "cloudflare" captchas and cite "security" - I have never once ran across a BANK LOGIN that has to pass a cloudflare captcha !!!
