Do we really want this? :dubbio: No. VPN in browsers is a slimmed-down and not really sensible solution. A system-wide VPN is the real deal. :thumbup I personally avoid those VPN extensions. And Windscribe is unfortunately crap. :thumbdown But TBH, there are dedicated threads here in the Windows XP forum with all necessary information about VPN. Keep in mind that all such browser extensions are old and no longer maintained for legacy browsers! Although updated very regularly, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 are still very old browsers that are not really or not at all taken into account in the development of extensions. And in terms of VPN not at all. :P In any case, I would not install an extension in my perfectly adjusted and completely error-free browser that is obviously no longer compatible. Either you fix the extension yourself or it goes to the data graveyard.

Hello AstroSkipper,

Since the use of VPNs is not common, I verified that when trying to access hiew.ru it shows a CentOS Test page and via VPN Web Gateway it shows the real one; So I remembered Windscribe and Browsec....

On the other hand, I tried TOR v7.5.6 XP and it no longer works due to the lack of support for the new connection protocols, since the old ones have been removed.

I see the hiew.ru page in all browsers.

The IPs of the server are 13.248.177.206, 76.223.53.100.

@roytam1 Would it be possible for you to give me build instructions for K-Meleon 76 Goanna using Visual C++ 2013?

1. build palemoon27 repo with https://github.com/roytam1/kmeleon/blob/master/goanna-xulrunner-km-adapt.diff applied, and build with mozconfig "ac_add_options --enable-application=xulrunner"

2. copy built xulrunner's objdir/dist/* to xulrunner-sdk inside kmeleon folder

3. apply kmxulr-sdk-goanna-240425.diff

4. open k-meleon/k-meleon10.sln and build

5. after k-meleon.exe is built, copy k-meleon binary files from Release to xulrunner-sdk/bin and run there

Memory Fox (1.0) pluging improves browsing experience (smoother) with Serpent 52.9. Browser still becomes unusable/unresponsive @~1.3GB RAM usage (and one CPU core completely occupied).

The trick when it comes to using legacy browsers is actually to prevent such a situation from arising in the first place. I used to use extensions like that many, many years ago, but they didn’t really help. The hope that they’ll make a difference is usually far greater than their actual benefit. Many of these tools simply move the junk from the RAM to the pagefile.sys. BTW, I'm actually only familiar with version 7.4.1. Yours must be quite old. Where did you get it from? :dubbio:

Notice: next build will bring you libdav1d instead of libaom for AV1 decoding, not fully tested but looks like working from my limited testings.

they also checked-in lots of other things, bug parallelized GC and FinalizationRegistry may cause browser strugglish and/or crashy.

EDIT: decided to back-out FinalizationRegistry here, GC-on-close-tab was backed out as well.

Network Monitoring Tools All These can record max speed CurrrPorts will only show it until refresh. LiveTCP-UDPWatch will retain it if Menu Info > Sort On Every Update > is disabled

NirSoft CurrPorts and LiveTCP-UDPWatch

For a graphical viewer NetGraph can show any speed max you ask of it, even shows all speed spikes. The max speed shown is whatever you set the max speed, now or the future speeds KB/sec and Bytes/sec in the older XP version I use, version unknown, not shown.

NetGraph can pause the graph from advancing further then take a screenshot, mouse over, look one of the logs maybe more options in newer versions

Did anyone try to search MSFN threads via Google Search since yesterday? :dubbio: Doesn't matter whether you do it in New Moon or Serpent or any other browsers. You’ll be really surprised. Just type in ‘MSFN’ as your search term! From now on, I won't use anymore Google Search in my browsers as the main search engine. :realmad: I've had enough of Googling for now. :thumbdown :buehehe:

or any other browser

Seems like a legit search result for me.

(edit:  I myself never search via Google and prefer the "noai" version of DuckDuckGo and ocassionally use Bing when I "want" an AI Answer)
(though mainly because Google for an AI always hits me with a Cloudflare capcha, but here lately so does Bing)

I didn't refer to AI search results. Have a look at the standard search results. Try, for example, 'MSFN Windows XP'! Google officially began rolling out the May 2026 Core Update yesterday (21 May 2026). And that’s exactly where the problem lies! Maybe, in Europe or Germany first! :realmad: The search results are simply crap. :thumbdown

Okay, my page 1 and page 2 of those results all point to OTHER forums, none here at MSFN.

Also none of the types of results indicated in the "gambling redirect" thread.

And page 3 =

Conclusio: At the moment, MSFN is no longer listed on Google. Their index has been destroyed. Bye, bye Google! :thumbdown
