ArcticFoxie/NotHereToPlayGames -- 360Chrome v13.5.1030 rebuild 7

Recommended Posts

Presumably due to how Skia renders fonts on Windows or the way it's used. AFAIK, it uses hardcoded contrast constant. Maybe try this extension:

https://www.crx4chrome.com/extensions/ombebcdhklmmkcddekoplmobafpkolmd/

Personally I prefer the fonts that come out with combination of Win8.1+ (with tuned ClearType settings) + classic Mozilla based forks (SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, UXP browsers). I also noticed newer Firefox versions render them thinner (at least assuming from experience from version 96, things could have changed since...).

My settings in DCBrowser: Page zoom 110 %, Font size: Large. I use rather Dark Mode...but NOT on MSFN nor windowsxp forums....

In 360Chrome: Page zoom: 120%, custom font size: 12.

I don't mean the font size, it's okay.

The problem is the many different fonts that use the websites.
These are often not legible.

Additionally, I've notched in uBlock: "Block remote fonts" setting.

Use dark mode extension if you wish..

To make darker fonts, use Blacker Texthttps://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/blacker-text/nmmmdgooonmibfppcponjkaoohgcdpbd/related?hl=en-US - which has default settings very pleasant to me. Size11.92KiB only.

PS. This extension works flawlessly on the MSFN forum...

Isn't there a checkbox to turn off update checks in Process Hacker?

Nope!  But did discover that you can DELETE the Updater.dll file in the plugins folder and whoala, no more phone-home telemetry (or disable via plugins menu but this would allow it to phone home "once" because you had to launch with it enabled by default).

I see, the newer versions have the option in Options, I'd have to check if it's also part of the plugin. Didn't you post something about small things the other day? :w00t:

Unrelated to 360Chrome, but maybe another small, but bizarre thing, weeks/months ago, I noticed KeeFox extension in my Mozilla forks keeps pinging the address for collecting stats. Even with the relevant checkbox disabled. I have mixed feelings on that type of data collection, consider it neither harmful nor particularly useful for any party. But again, I'm no professional developer. The bizarre thing with KeeFox is the frequency, only several seconds apart. And it's the old abandoned version so probably not useful to the developer in either case.

Leading me to the somewhat related thing that a lot of data collection on the internet seems oriented towards trying to sell stuff to people. I'm sure they've figured out long ago that I'm hopeless case.

Several times already I remembered to check KeeFox and comment out whatever code is doing it, but every time I want to get to it, my mind is like: "Do I really have to?"

I don't know, hard to explain...

I also use that partially, but on many sides the structure is wrong because these graphics use the fonts.

Is it possible to block or replace certain fonts in uBlock?
The problem is not always the remote fonts.

Block - yes, it's too good for security.

Replace - no.

Suppose font-family contains:
Delivery,Verdana,sans-serif

Shouldn't "Verdana" then be used if "Delivery" is not available locally?
For me, "Renderet Font" shows "Delivery - Network resource" and doesn't use "verdana".

Do you have a web site example?

e.g. www.knluftfilter.com
font-family: montserrat,sans-serif

montserrat is not available locally, but sans-serif.
Renderet Fonts: Montserrat Thin - Network resource

It's because your uBlock setup is not blocking .css from fonts.googleapis.com.

If I block fonts.googleapis.com, different characters are no longer displayed.
See the screenshot.
