Which device is that?

It's an ASUS laptop S513A, cheers.

To be fair the messages are a bit random 'Battery status 47% available, plugged in. Smart charging on'. (Standard tray icon with MyASUS enabling the smart charge). I may be slightly paraphrasing. I can screenshot if you really want (badly, with Snipping Tool haha).

I'll provide legacy battery icon setting. You won't get this option though on native taskbar though, so time to love it. Can't say anything about smart charging, Surface battery needs to be degraded first for it to be enabled it seems.

backup registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\StartIsBack

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\StartIsBack

save this as a .bat and run it. will output your SAB Settings and license, etc in 1 .reg file in C:\temp

<# :
  @echo off
    powershell /nologo /noprofile /command ^
        "&{[ScriptBlock]::Create((cat """%~f0""") -join [Char[]]10).Invoke(@(&{$args}%*))}"
  exit /b
#>

New-Item -Path "c:\temp" -Name "dump" -ItemType "directory" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

$keys = Get-ChildItem -path HKCU:\software\StartIsBack, HKLM:\software\StartIsBack

$tempFolder = 'C:\temp\dump'
$outputFile = 'C:\temp\Output.reg'

$i = 1;
$keys | ForEach-Object {
  $i++
  & reg export $_ "$tempFolder\$i.reg"
}

'Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00' | Set-Content $outputFile
Get-Content "$tempFolder\*.reg" | Where-Object {
  $_ -ne 'Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00'
} | Add-Content $outputFile

Remove-Item C:\temp\dump -Recurse

Hello, i've been using StartAllBack (v 3.7 iirc) successfully until the latest Windows update (24H2). After update, on the first try, i had a message from SAB saying that my it is incompatible with current OS version, i clicked "Run" nonetheless. After that, when i log in, all i have is black screen with ability to launch Task Manager.
After figuring out how to uninstall SIB, i downloaded the latest version from the website (v 3.9), but the problem still persists.
In this mode, however, i can launch Explorer from the Task manager, and i can see that context menu is also modified, but it seems that Task bar is disabled for some reason.

I managed to find the instruction on how to create crash dumps, so i attach the link to the one i got, hopefully that would help.

  1. In W11 with StartAllBack the menu opens besides the taskbar is there an option to change this position?
  2. Is there an option to add custom folders to the start menu like in the image? This way I have my most used programs in reach.

It turns out that Open Shell works nicely alongside StartAllBack and solves all my points. Great combination :-)

Keep up the good work with StartAllBack, great stuff!

This thread is not the place for support. You still have 3.6.16 installed, try uninstalling/installing for user/uninstalling

Update: I installed latest update 3.9.4, the issue still persists.

Hi @Tihiy,

I use startallback v 3.9.2 with windows 11 Enterprise, 24H2

I also use "greenshot" to take screenshots.

my taskbar is pinned to the left side of the screen.

since the last update, when i take a screenshot, suddenly another image of the taskbar appears to the right, and all the windows become repositioned about an inch lower

this prevents me from taking complete screenshots of the lower parts of the desktop, Also the screenshot crosshair is pointing to the wrong location.

please check if this is an issue with startallback

(i enjoy your product very much! )

Thank you

A.R

A suggestion to make this line more visible? Maybe darken the entire selection highlight to match the window 11 taskbar selection?

Could we also get the start button colors (a bit darker blue) to match better with the light and dark mode? Like the original windows 11 one?

Id like to bump this, even a color override for the bottom part of taskbar icons would go a long way. I'm using an older version because its so hard to see on the newer ones.

I am experiencing issues on 24H2 where when I - sometimes - lock the computer (WIN+L), the screen goes black and I can only see the mouse cursor. It is totally frozen up. I can also experience when pressing restart the screen also freezes completely but apps can still receive updates however I can interact with non of it. Have to hold down the power button force a poweroff.

I'm currently testing with SAB disabled but is there any chance it could be related to SAB? Any ideal way to troubleshoot this?

One immediate thing I notice is when locking the computer it feels way faster, less black screen before showing the lockscreen itself.

@BlakByte With 24H2 there is known similar issue (everything but mouse frozen) which is result of run as administrator (and UAC prompt) or run as a different user, not exclusively related to Microsoft Terminal been launched. This is almost guaranteed to cause the same result where only hard reboot fixes it. I am also running SAB, but verified that SAB is not related, at least to this specific issue.

Before in 3.9.4 the new icon was green if the battery was in good condition, now in 3.9.5 it's only white. Why?
