StartAllBack for Windows 11

Hi, I'm trying to get my date back on my taskbar. The time is still there, but it vanished a few weeks ago. I have a 4k monitor and my font size is 135%. If I lower it to 115% it comes back, but up until a few weeks ago it was there. I can also enlarge the taskbar to make it come back, but I don't want to do that.

Any ideas? Thanks.

@Darkenmal I was able to get the date back by reducing the font size of the clock. In my case, I'm at 100% scaling so setting it Segoe UI size 8pt was enough. In your case, you might need to choose a different font size.Screenshot2025-02-17184846.png.22eed6411ca4cf7a867eb77f6a3e0bfa.png

One question: why is there such a white box? I remember Windows 10 and it wasn't like that. Could it be a mistake?

Windows 10 is just 11 unrounded, you may run startallbackcfg /magic and enable sharp corners there

Not exactly. The taskbar is markedly different. Plain8 uses the Windows 8 active icon styling with the windows 8 jump lists. Default should be renamed to 10 as that's the styling it's using but the jumplists are a hybrid of "default" and "native". There's no setting to employ the Windows 10 style jump lists and their translucency.

Plain8 in the old StartIsBack on Windows 10 used the native Windows 10 jumplists.
Is there not some way to offer jump list configurability? My dream mix is Plain8 taskbar with default/native style jumplists (only if Windows 10 jumplists are not possible).
Happy to donate to try make this possible.

I'm not sure what SAB jump lists lack? What's different with Default + sharp corners from Win10? Native jump lists can't come back.

Can't find a way to turn this off?

There isn't (it won't be optional in Win11 either).

@Tihiy

I found a bug in the latest version (3.9.4)

If I'm using the "Display as flyout menu (Windows XP style)" option, changing the "Display Modern apps in a folder" option will have no effect until I manually restart Explorer.

Found the bug. If you turn off "Tray icons - quick settings" in startallback. Then click on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar, the bluetooth menu is not hidden. See how the sound menu works, it hides automatically if you click anywhere with your mouse

EarTrumpet continues to display only on the main monitor.

Yeah it requires changes in EarTrumpet. I've submitted them but there's no guarantee if/when they will be implemented.

Completely disabling the Enhanced Toolbar works with the battery icon. It's a bit nuclear for one tray icon, but I simply dislike it. It also shows the smart charge as a percentage of the smart charge percentage (e.g. it says 100% smart charged when the charge is 80% when it's set at 80%. The default battery icon hover says it's fully smart charged at 80% capacity. A subtle difference, but added to the icon my preference is to 'stay nuclear')

Couldn't seem to quote the part of the response that replied to mine (even tried multiquote, maybe I'm using it wrong lol)
