Why should users who want classic functionality care about Microsoft's "discouragement"? 2 minutes ago, Tihiy said: and I would only discourage them further. Why would you help people restore classic functionality, and then "discourage" its use? 2 minutes ago, Tihiy said: A better way to pin folders to taskbar is needed. Well, that's subjective. I've been using quick launch and its overflow menu from its inception and find it adequate for launching apps and opening certain frequent folders. I don't need a better way. I need the old way to keep working and to also work on the secondary when the primary is hidden by a full-screen app. 2 minutes ago, Tihiy said: Options are not is generally useful. Sane defaults would be better. Cloned taskbar is what Windows 8 went with and going macOS way would present challenges. I see the usability benefits of ignoring full-screened monitor; however, I don't generally use multi-monitor as most users. A sane default for clone mode (where the secondary task bar already shows the same running tasks and same tray icons as the primary) is to also show the same toolbars. That's more logical, coherent and useful than the current partial clone. But for automatic moving of the primary taskbar when hidden by a full-screen app on primary, an option is needed, because that would be a new mode, which can't be forced on everyone. 1

mackid1993 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 (edited) This is what I use Directory Opus floating toolbars for. I personally dock mine to the top of the screen and invoke it with a keystroke/macro combination but they do support autohide (or on a multi monitor set up it can just be a permanently docked fixture). It's nice as the buttons can launch anything from simple executables to scripts, Directory Opus macros which are very powerful as well. I felt it was a more sustainable solution to using something that has been long deprecated and its continued existence can't be relied upon. https://docs.dopus.com/doku.php?id=additional_functionality:floating_toolbars This is also why I moved to NetWorx for my taskbar network speed indicator, as the devs fully support Win 11 with it and actively maintain and improve support. I'm grateful to @Tihiy for rewriting the legacy taskbar... my whole philosophy is to not build workflows around legacy tools that can eventually break. A new codebase that isn't reliant on MS (as much) makes me feel a lot better. Edited October 12, 2024 by mackid1993
SkyySX Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 The bug where the Taskbar renders incorrectly suddenly returned, this is super weird.
Wonderer Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) The issues with a taskbar on a second display having white texts on a light gray panel were fixed in a recent build of SaB, but the file dialog that opens from the toolbar (Toolbar -> New Toolbar, for example) still has white texts on white background. Or black texts on black background Edited October 15, 2024 by Wonderer
Hyper.nl Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Anyone else got the file explorer menu not working since the September/October updates for Windows 11 23H2 and 24H2 when using StartAllBack with the Windows 7 explorer command bar? I can click on the menu but the menu does not fold out. I downgraded a few versions of StartAllBack and it does not fix it, and my dad got the same issue on his Windows 11 computer with StartAllBack. We're using different anti-virus programs so it's probably not the antivirus that blocks it.

StevenAdulthood Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Work fine on my end with Win7 layout, But I think he gave up on these kind of stuff bro, Ver 3.8xx bugged the app icons' UI elements and moved them to the upper area on win7 layout And it wasn't fixed to this day so I'm losing my hopes over here, I wish there was some explanation why it moved in the first place, all I've got last time was that it had something to do with Chorme and I have no idea how chrome even relates to that :/
kubikiri Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Should I make suggestions/report problems here? Anyway. Suggestion 1: Add keyboard access key (underscored letter) to start menu items (just like old classic start menu). Would be nice if user could use Alt + access key to activate menu items in start menu. Would be nicer if user could customize access key for custom folders (add & before desired letter in the custom folder name). Suggestion 2: Partial match search box. As of now, I have to type "regedit" to make it show as top result, and I have to type "gpedit.msc" to make it even show up as a result. Suggestion 3: Customize folder icon for custom folders (instead of a generic folder icon when hovering mouse over it). Thanks! Also as you can see, the font color of search result doesn't seem right (I'm using MacType by the way).

It has always been like that, all programs you call from PATH have to be spelled until end. Those that are shortcuted in Start Menu does have the partial match box. Try it.

pangoomis Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Surely this is unsolvable? GTA Online works fine but this popping up can be annoying. 2

Anytime I receive a chat message in the channel it notifies me with the task bar window turning orange and flashes ("Show flashing on taskbar apps" windows option). I turned off the windows option but it still flashes. I am not sure if flashing notifications on program cause the task bar to stay opened until the notification has been seen. Normally these message notifications should not open the taskbar in anyways. I have no other programs to test the flashing with. This is also happening with the latest 3.8.11 test version. @Tihiy So I am noticing this problem does in fact happen with anything that flashes. I was testing with discord and other programs too, mentions or messages make discord flash to easily test with. As soon as any flashing on the taskbar happens it will prevent the autohide from hiding the taskbar until you check when window highlighted. Edited October 18, 2024 by Onilink
