Just tried it; you're right.

Thanks! :)

However, when I tried quite some time ago, it threw an error and on their forum (or Github?) there was a heated discussion about the dropped XP support...

Guess they changed something.

You're welcome!

I don't install every version, so I didn't recognize that there was a problem. This also happened to other software in the past. I.e. the WinSCP installer doesn't work anymore under WinXP...you have to use the portable version.

kind regards
soggi

OK, what's going on now?

I ran my updater today and MN and NM were completely wiped out. Gone! Rather than fail to "could not update", it deleted my software :(

https://o.rths.ml/ is not responding for me, either. Is the repository gone?

@i430VX is yours still working?

UPDATE: Ah OK, I see the hostname changed.

Did a find/replace on that, now New Moon updated back. But MailNews is still gone...

Here's what I'm trying to do:

cd /D "%~dp0"
set Arch=x64
if "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE%" == "x86" (
    if not defined PROCESSOR_ARCHITEW6432 set Arch=x86

if %Arch% == x64 (
set choiceprog=choice
set archstatement=64-Bit [x64] With at least SSE2
) else (
set choiceprog=choice16
set archstatement=32-bit [x86]
)
if exist "%ProgramW6432%" (
    set x64progdir=%ProgramW6432%
) else (
    set x64progdir=%programfiles%
)
if exist "%public%\Desktop" (
    set publicdesktop=%public%\Desktop
) else (
    set publicdesktop=%allusersprofile%\Desktop
)
if exist "%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" (
    set startmenuall=%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
) else (
    set startmenuall=%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs
)
echo Now Installing MailNews...

7-zip has an (advanced) setting under Tools -> Options -> Editor where you can input the full path to your preferred code editor's main executable, and from then on "text-like" files inside an opened archive will open with said selected editor; very handy indeed, does not involve OS-wide file type (i.e. extension) associations... :P

That was something I always knew about but never used and you're right, it will open files with Word without extracting.

For now I've had to disable good old youtube because when I use search from firefox home page it will sometimes open the download box to download json.txt. Very annoying since that is how I go to youtube most of the time. It's obviously a problem the developer is aware of since reviewers have mentioned it.

They're extracted to temporary directory behind the scenes. Other programs wouldn't be able to work with them otherwise.
