thinhnk Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 on the picture I can see that the Disk is busy all the time. So it looks like the disk is the bottleneck.Yes, i'm think so. But, i'm have not solution for this.
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 reduce the amount of started tool to reduce disk IO or buy a SSD.
kourgath Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 my computer was nice and fast up untill recently when i tried out microsofts virtual machine setup to fix a java issue in another program. now i have 5 mins load times from the time i hit login. heres a link to the xml output from tonights trace. i hope someone can help figure this out cause i'm getting ready for another fresh install if it stays like this for much longerhttps://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=BCDC88B7DE372814%211420
kourgath Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 ok here's a link to the zipped ETL file. thanks for looking at ithttps://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=BCDC88B7DE372814%211429
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 have you used the 8.0 or 8.1 WPT to capture the trace?
kourgath Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 well found part of the problem at least, intel 3770k processors don't support virtualization. so even though it's enabled in the bios installing hyper-v causes the system to hang when loading the services after login. uninstalled hyper-v and the 5 min boot time drops back down to under 30 seconds
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 the 3770k does support VT-x, but Hyper-V sucks completely. Use VMware Player or Virtualbox instead.
Bentree Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Greetings MagicAndre I have a toshiba laptop that is about 5 days old. On every 4th or 5th boot the computer will hang at boot for about 15mins. I disabled fast boot and this didn't do any difference. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28370259/summary_boot.xml is a link to my Summaryboot.xml file. could you please read it and see if you can see what is causing it?Many Thanks in advance, Bensummary_boot.xml

It still was very slow to boot but it was faster. I then found the log file for the Inter storage driver, it stated that it was unable to set current power management settings in drive which stopped it from allowing the disk to operate at full speed. I disabled power management for the hard drive and now it starts within 20 seconds. Thanks for the advice and help MagicAndre.Cheers, Ben

Aloha Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Andre,Is there any bad effect if the power management for the hard disk is disabled? 20s of booting time sounds pretty nice!
MagicAndre1981 Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 it consumes a bit more power, but there are no delays when you access the drive. It no longer needs to be wake up.
Aloha Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Thanks for replying, Andre. But now, I want to know if it is a bad idea when we don't let the hard disk sleep or rest at all! Will the disablement of the power reduce the durability of a hard disk? Power consumption is less important to me btw.
