winstonl Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 yes, upload it to the skydrive. But make sure you've used the 8.1 version of the WPT to capture the trace.http://sdrv.ms/1gcVwxkthanks andre!i'm suspecting it is something to do with the ATI drivers (the graphics card is a 8870M) but the weird thing is i haven't made any changes to it recentlycheers
MagicAndre1981 Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 you read the XML correctly. It is the ATI card:- resumecritical="61091598" hiberwrite="5897000" hiberpageswritten="157341" hiberread="6260000" resume="67596000">Resume takes 67s and most time is spend on resuming the ATI card:<device start="116757154" duration="59921764" name="PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6821&SUBSYS_C0E6144D&REV_00\4&383e238c&0&0008"> <driver start="116865644" duration="59813256" name="\Driver\amdkmdap" /> Your atikmdag.sys is version 8.01.01.1331. Try the 13.12 WHQL driver.

Try the 13.12 WHQL driver.thanks for reading it! the existing version was provided by Samsung, and that worked till the past few days when it started giving problems. and yet i did not make any changes to the drivers at all.i've tried 13.12 but the issue does not resolve unfortunately.would turning hibernation off be viable?
MagicAndre1981 Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 try to disable the AMD before entering hibernation. Is it faster?
winstonl Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 try to disable the AMD before entering hibernation. Is it faster?unfortunately when i disable the AMD card, the computer goes into some sort of safe mode, so it can't work out. this is driving me crazy haha
MagicAndre1981 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 try different/older ATI/AMD drivers.
winstonl Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 i reset the laptop back to factory settings, and reinstalled the same AMD drivers but this time, no hibernation issues hahawhat lousy AMD drivers thanks andre for helping!
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 nice to hear that you fixed it btw, Happy New Year
hcw8 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I'm trying to use this trace to figure out why my PC cannot shut down or sleep or hibernate. It shuts the applications and the screen off but it will not shut the fans or the power button. _However_ it does reboot.Unfortunately the shutdown trace is essentially a reboot so that works flawlessly. The standby trace reproduces the issue, which results in me needing to hard reset by holding down the power button. Unfortunately when I restart the ETL files are empty..Any ideas on how I can overcome this?
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 the tool is only useful to debug performance issues, not issues in why it doesn't sleep, shutdown or hibernate.
hcw8 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Thanks. Do you see anything wrong with my shutdown performance? Do you know of any tools or switches which allows logging up until the point of failure? summary_shutdown.xml
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 the shutdown of skype is a bit long (10s):<shutdownProcess name="Skype.exe" shutdownStartTime="220" shutdownEndTime="10791" processEndTime="10776" shutdownDuration="10571" shutdownLevel="4" shutdownFlags="74243" /> LogMeIn seems to hang:- <unresponsiveServices numUnresponsiveServices="1"> <unresponsiveService name="LogMeIn" /> </unresponsiveServices>the rest seams to be ok.
hcw8 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 That's what I thought too. I have uninstalled logmein already - made no difference. My quest continues..
