dencorso Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 OK. But read my previous post 1st. I guess I just found the answer you sought... 1
jumper Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 If the definition of a "modern" program is one that doesn't support WinXP, then maybe none.
Tamris Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I get it that there's no way to install the english version of KEx on a non-english version of W2000?
caiot5 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Hey @blackwingcat First things first: thank you for making it possible to extend the windows 2000's kernel. I need to ask you for a word of advice: What do you recommend to be the order to install your EXKernel versions? I've installed it by random order v5, v7, v18, v22 but when I installed v29 it broke my system and complained about mscvcp60.dll, so I downloaded it and put it on system32, then I was able to use the system but it was all messed up, like I could not access the Network Connections in Control Panel and Active Desktop features were also messed up, so I'm thinking about installing the system once again. Can I ignore all the previous versions and install just the 29b exkernel? Does it contains all the previous patches? So the all the process could be described as: - Install win2k - Install win2ksp4 - Install Windows Installer 3.0 - Install IE6.0SP1 - Install IE6.0SP1-Commulative Updates - Install BWC's ExKernel 2.9b Am I on the right track? Besides when I try to install firefox52esr it complains about supporting only XP and above. How can I passthrough? Thank you and sorry for the TL;DR text Edited December 8, 2018 by caiot5

Indeed, every succeeding version contains the previous version's patches.

Thank you and sorry for the TL;DR text Hi, caiot5 I recomend v2.8, because some people complain the bugs. But they have not given me enough information , so I can not fix it. Does mscvcp60.dll problem mean "only broken the file "? Extended kernel can install overwrite privious version. But previous version does not have enough files , so remain some extended file and they effect your system. (I allow you install v2.8c after v2.8e. But It seems to have problem that you install v2.7 after v2.8.) >Am I on the right track? That is bad :3 ExKernel requires you completed all important Windows 2000 Update. For example , I think Application and Program in Control Panel should broken.
Tamris Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 @blackwingcat Is there any chance you could make a version of KEx that would work with a polish version of W2000? I tried the english one but it didn't want to install.

Starting with exKernel v22, I have multiple issues with the system, e.g. I can't see the network connections, etc. Can you please tell me the step-by-step proccess of how to get the latest exKernel working correctly? - Install win2k - Install win2ksp4 - Install Windows Installer 3.0 - Install IE6.0SP1 - Install IE6.0SP1-Commulative Updates What else need I to install/update BEFORE exkernel v28 installation? Thank you!

Do I need to install it aswell or may I stick with your guidelines and install just the SRP1v2 ?

I'm trying to follow your step-by-step guide right now. Thank you again.
Tamris Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 @blackwingcat I see that there's a significant amount of differences between the most recent version and v10, but if you say that modifying current version is too costly (I get it that it's simply too much work), then yeah, v10 is fine too . And thank you.
Jakob99 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Do you think Internet Explorer 7 and 8 would be possible with this? I would think so if we backport some XP/Vista files. If we end up having to backport Vista files, then maybe IE 9 would work since that is supported on Vista.
