What's funny this text printed from Wordpad goes smoothlyregards,The problem isn't related to KernelEx, at least not directly:http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1289411827432+28353475&threadId=2991http://forums.techguy.org/earlier-versions-windows/350582-error-when-printing-win-98-a.htmlhttp://web.archive.org/web/20040217232044/support.microsoft.com/?kbid=247821here, point 3:http://web.archive.org/web/20040202005522/http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/spool32.htm#ERRSPOOL32Your best options are trying to replace spoolss.dll with the one from Me (4.90.3000) or disabling the antivirus. CharlesF Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I have installed KernelEx 4.5 RC5.Running fine, but I don't find any improvement in VLC. Like previously I can't use any version after VLC 1.0.3.

frogman Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) I have the very latest KernelEx installed, but when I try and download the latest Adobe Shockwave player 11.5.9.615 It trys to install, but then it stops and I get an error on Firefox, here are the details, and wondered if there was something I did wrong or need to do in order to get the shockwave to successfully install, by the way after the error is shows up in the list of add/remove program list, but the player doesn't work because when I test it on the adobe site nothing shows in the box.SHOCKWAVE_INSTALLER_SLIM caused an exception c0000417H in module SCC.DLL at 016f:008b6300.Registers:EAX=01a1f0bc CS=bff7016f EIP=008b6300 EFLGS=00000216EBX=00000000 SS=bffc0177 ESP=01a1f390 EBP=01a1f3d4ECX=00000000 DS=1a10177 ESI=00000000 FS=630edfEDX=00000000 ES=bfa40177 EDI=00000000 GS=1a10000Bytes at CS:EIP:83 c4 14 83 c8 ff eb 4b 33 c0 39 75 0c 0f 95 c0 Stack dump:008b6300 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 47ab6568 0093a070 01a1f414 00000000 008d993c 01a1f3a8 01a1f82c 01a1ffbc 008b66a0 46873c8c--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Output folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEMSkipped: msvcp71.dllSkipped: msvcr71.dllOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AdobeOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\DirectorExtract: M5drvr32.exeExtract: M5if32.dllExtract: SWDNLD.EXEExtract: SwDir.dllExtract: np32dsw.dllOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AdobeDelete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\gi.dllDelete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\gt.exeDelete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\gtapi.dllDelete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\SCC.dllDelete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\CBrowser.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\INetURL.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\Multiusr.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\Netfile.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\Netlingo.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\Speech.x32Delete file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\Xtras\autodownload.txtOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11Extract: Control.dllExtract: DynaPlayer.dllExtract: Plugin.dllExtract: Proj.dllExtract: SCC.dllExtract: SwHelper_1159615.exeExtract: SwInit.exeExtract: SwLogo.bmpExtract: SwMenu.dllExtract: dirapi.dll... 100%Extract: gi.dllExtract: gt.exe... 100%Extract: gtapi.dllExtract: iml32.dll... 100%Extract: shockwave_Projector_Loader.dcrOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\XtrasExtract: CBrowser.x32Extract: INetURL.x32Extract: Multiusr.x32Extract: Netfile.x32Extract: Netlingo.x32Extract: Speech.x32Extract: autodownload.txtOutput folder: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AdobeCreated uninstaller: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\uninstaller.exeRegistering: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Director\SwDir.dllExecute: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Shockwave 11\SwHelper_1159615.exe /regserverExecute: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Adobe\Director\SwDnld.exe /regserver Edited November 10, 2010 by frogman
cure Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Three converted but with this error: "There was an error opening file." Two failed to converted with this error in Wordconv: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down."Now we would like crash logs / those files.Where do I find the crash log? (A search of *.log with today's date turned up nothing). Equally, the docx files are actually student papers from my archive so I can't just post them. I might be able to do something with email after stripping off names. Please send me a PM.
Steven W Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Tihiy, I'm not sure if these would be helpful or not, the folks with the OpenXML/ODF Translator Add-in for Office have a collection of sample documents. I'll post the links for the DOCX files that I'm aware of.http://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/files/Sample%20Files%20for%20Open%20XML/Release%204.0/DOCX_Files_4.0.zip/downloadhttp://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/files/Sample%20Files%20for%20Open%20XML/Release%203.0/DOCX_Files_3.0.zip/downloadI hope that'll be a good start for you. By the way, that converter isn't always perfect.
FlippX Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Uuhh, a new design......but actually I recently found a program that refuses to work... It's a kind of free modular audio system (I couldn't try it jet..) called Usine ( http://www.sensomusic.com/download/ ). (no install necessary!)I have a win98se + everything. The error-message tells something like this:"The File USINEMAIN.EXE is linked to the missing Export-KERNEL32.DLL:GetSystemTimes."Could anyone try this? And is possible to fix it??Greets
frogman Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I receive the following Firefox message when trying to update Java to version 6 update 22 from version 6 update 6.Can this be fixed?JRE-6U22-WINDOWS-I586-IFTW-RV_DC3C3625 caused a stack fault in module JRE-6U22-WINDOWS-I586-IFTW-RV_DC3C3625.EXE at 016f:00403959.Registers:EAX=00000000 CS=016f EIP=00403959 EFLGS=00010212EBX=006e2072 SS=0177 ESP=006e1fdc EBP=006e2000ECX=0000240e DS=0177 ESI=00007096 FS=8527EDX=000070b2 ES=0177 EDI=007daa80 GS=7a3fBytes at CS:EIP:53 8b 5d 0c 56 8b 75 08 8b 46 04 89 4d e4 8b 4d Stack dump:00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 006e2020 0040acd6 007daa80 00000138 0000240e 00000ee0 006e2028
frogman Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) FAO Xeno86I have been told that Firefox versions 3.6 need the next generation version of the Java plugin, but unfortunately this version won't work on the windows 98 system. So I am wondering if it's possible to check this out, and if that is indeed the case, is it possible to built this request into the next release of KernelEx in order to make the new plugin work on Windows 98?Here is a quote on the Mozilla forum...........If you use KernelEx then I assume that you are on a Windows 98 / ME platform.Firefox 3.6 versions need the Next Generation version of the Java plugin and current Java version probably won't work on the Windows 98 platform. M()zart Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 "The File USINEMAIN.EXE is linked to the missing Export-KERNEL32.DLL:GetSystemTimes."I have met such error too, but I don't remember which app required it. But may be a stub for this function will be useful.

frogman Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) The KernelEx core file configuration, I see it is set at 0 by default, do we need to change this manually and then save for any reason, or is it better to leave well alone? If say I changed it to 6, would this mean that everything on my computer would be treated as if I had windows XP instead of windows 98? or do we do this on individual exe files only?[ApiConfigurations]default=00=DCFG11=WIN952=WIN983=WINME4=NT405=NT2K6=WINXP7=WIN2K38=VISTA9=WIN2K810=NOHEAP Edited November 12, 2010 by frogman

Any applications that invoke functions on a per-OS-version basis will be prone to breakage. Better just do EXE's individually.Joe.

Three failed entirely, two reported an error but opened, plus there were four dotx files that I and the converter were unfamillar with.Again, I would be happy to provide the crash log for each, but I need to be told where to find it.PS Why do the pair of docx files that I am trying to attach here fail to post?
