Virtual Machine Test Assistance
ricktendo replied to INTI's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Not all your actual physical devices will show up on the virtual machine and a virtual machine test is to make sure your programs and stuff installed, its to make sure you did not integrate a bad addon or removed something that broke your install -
Yep I knew it, same problem was pestering me when trying to upgrade to ie8

Hidden Files Toggle
-
OK here is a good reason to turn it off, if anybody wants to install stuff unattededly (silent switch installers) one needs to turn off UAC
-
This has also happened to me befrore with both klmcodec and vcpack, it has to do with avi files and .srt (sub tittle) files
-
From what I gather HFSLIP can integrate the hotfix for windows search fine, just that the search does not work. The only thing needed to do is create the service and that will solve the problem You can use AddService in the INF or SC.EXE either will do
-
LOL you are welcome I wish I was half as good at making cmd/bat files I have been trying to show you HFSLIP guys how to correctly integrate the Windows Search hotfix (all you need to do is create a simple service) but nobody seems interested
-
I have run into the same problem before, it took me days but I found the problem...it was this reg key it was not letting one overwrite it causing the IE7/8 installer to fail I will be able to tell for sure when he posts his ie#.log file
-
Can you post your ie7.log thats in your WINDOWS directory? BTW you may want to try this: 1- Open REGEDIT 2- Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D} 3- Right click on it and choose "Permissions..." 4- Put a checkmark in "Full Control" -> "Allow" for ADMINISTRATORS or Everyone 5- Now try to reinstall IE7
-
I think that XPize 5 will have support for custom icon packs, it should be easy for them to add support for custom themes in those icon packs So lets wait and see

Kb956391 doesn't install properly with 1.7.9 beta c
ricktendo replied to sabregreen's topic in HFSLIP
Internet explorer may be the cause for this, it has to do with this reg key being different in Kb956391 but its not being taken because IE.INF gets executed much after Optional Componets HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{0002E510-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}","Compatibility Flags",0x00010001,00,00,04,00 More info -
DriverPacks can integrate those
-
How else do you want vLite to add and remove the stuff? A: It has to mount it
-
No matter what version of the file you use you will get error...when you install this hotfix dpcdll.dll is not copied anywhere so back up dpcdll.dl_ from your i386 folder and after you integrate this hotfix put it back so you dont get this Edit: Correct redxii I installed the hotfix on pro vl and the file did not get added, have not tested home yet
-
Dude I can do it and why would you want to change boot.ini BEFORE installation, it can be done during setup
-
Post your boot.ini before and how you want it after, I can probably make you a addon that will edit it
-
No you dont have to slipstream sp1 or sp2 for sp3, I think only if you install sp3 on your already installed system you need sp1 or something
