  1. While my solution to the update issue is different, since I am using a network segment, the same can be applied to a single system. I block all Microsoft domains and IPs, and thus the systems cannot update. Then I can use any OS I want. RTM = Release to Manufacturing and to be clear, the RTM versions were only made available in the OEM channel as either a download or physical media, and I've never once seen an RTM disc for sale in the secondary market. The closest you can legally get to using RTM would be to use a System Builder Kit. And RTM should not be used to mean "no service pack" because Windows 7 SP1 has an RTM version also.
  2. Hmm I am just aware of the Pegasus system.
  3. I don't type in questions to any search engine that wasn't Ask Jeeves. I tried the AI search at Newegg to show me SFF with integrated video and it still will only show mid-tower systems with video cards.
  4. I am working with an ISO image, the Intel Deployment Assistant for S5500BC server board. It can be downloaded here (site works with JS disabled, normally I wouldn't like to use a site like this) https://www.helpdrivers.com/servers/Intel/Intel_Server_Management_and_Maintenance/Deployment_Assistant/ (filename is e40558-009cd.zip) The ISO inside can be opened with 7zip but there are two files I cannot seem to extract properly. They are rwc2.zso and usr.zso located in boot\ dir. These files can be opened/extracted with 7zip but they do not extract properly. All files have a header indicating that they are compressed with zisofs. Now it is likely I can extract these files from within Linux but I am trying to determine if there is a way to extract them in Windows. After some research I find that mkisofs can compress in that format but the -help doesn't make it seem that there is an extract option. So far I have been coming up empty on trying to find a way to extract those archives in Windows. So the questions here are 1. Is there a way to extract with mkisofs? 2. Is there another Windows program I can use to extract zisofs compressed files?
  5. Starting point for the Part II is here. From Elira's post: Stale
  6. For me it seems most of the issue is relating to Same Origin Policy/CORS and without looking too deep into things, it sounds like rather than provide a secure or compatibilty web interface, they instead will just show the message.
  7. There is some issue with 512 MB VRAM in Win98 FE, but I haven't dug into what it is exactly.
  8. After changing the link to the actual announcement instead of some blog, it is written as if Copilot is a front end for various LLMs and other similar systems.
  9. All links to Windows OS ISO have been removed. Do not post links to the ISO on the forum.
  10. Script bloat is the reason why the forum appears to be slow. You can run a Performance test in Inspector. At least for me, most time was spent on scripting.
  11. There was ads in Windows 95 when you installed some version of IE. I found it when I built my Japanese Windows 95 computer. The good thing was that the ads are from back then and did not go online to get them. Windows 8 also had ads, so does Windows 10 even the Enterprise version. I can't verify your claim about whether OEMs can do it, as I no longer have access to updated OPD. But I would say that if you don't have access to OPD, then you should not make any claim as to whether an OEM can/will do something to Windows. MS is very restrictive when it comes to what an OEM can do.
  12. I don't like to do address bar searching, so I never change or add search engines to Chrome-type browsers. I preferred old Firefox and Palemoon versions that have a dedicated search field on the UI and for those I have added search engines to.
  13. On Win7, Iron 109 with 3 extensions: - Adblock Plus - uBlock Origin - User-Agent Switcher (disabled)
  14. The error means invalid image format. Since you are on a 64bit OS, we can presume the OneDriveSetup.exe is fine, but one of the files it tries to load is the wrong architecture. If OneDriveSetup.exe is a 32-bit binary, it tried to load a 64-bit dependency or vice versa. Quite possible the correct dependency is present on the system, but default file search order found the wrong one first.
  15. I don't know what a volume OEM copy means. I have done a repair install using an OEM Recovery CD before, but it has been awhile. I also know some OEMs removed the ability to do repair install.
  16. I really don't pay any attention to what is in browsers and not like some of you guys, so I have no idea what is in Iron vs Chrome. What I can say is that the issue with posting or editing a post that contains links is a different issue but still related to this string issue, that thread is here: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185994-cant-edit-my-first-post-in-thread-error-when-posting-links/ I have noticed that the link preview issue is not 100% the fault of the site or the post editor, as it doesn't happen 100% of the time and not with all browsers. But I feel that issues with this site will always happen as IPB being a modern company is keeping up with the times in terms of browser tech, and the users of this forum are generally not.
  17. I never did try to convert this portion of a system. If it happened to me, I would probably clone the disk, then attempt a repair install.
  18. 0x7b stop error means the mass storage driver is missing.
  19. You can get the text back on Firefox 72 before whatever updated in the forum that broke compatibility, and Iron 109. For the MSFN links, when you paste the link, and the preview comes up, click the black banner that says to show only link. It seems that sometimes the preview option for forum links doesn't work.
  20. I am trying to determine what the best way to accomplish my goal of being able to network a modern device (Roku) as well as a some legacy computers (9x, XP) together but using some rules. I have laid out an example diagram here, and this layout is working correctly at the present time. What I want to accomplish is allow PC 3,4 and Server to see each other but not be able to see the rest of the network especially the internet. The server needs to see PC1 or 2 but not the internet. I have considered that I may need to connect a device between the DECA CHA and the Switch. I may be able to accomplish this using VLANs but I am not sure. I do not know if I need one or more than one device and where it needs to be put in the chain. I know I need a firewall of some sort. Potentially the server can bridge the two networks if need be. I haven't built the server yet. The various network equipment I have at my disposal to use to integrate into this are here, but I am unsure if any of these have the ability to do what I want (I am in the process of researching/testing them now) Cisco 2811 with 4 port HWIC Cisco 2821 (it has T1 ports but we'll pretend those aren't there) Ameri.com S53R24i Allied TeleSyn AT-8324SX CentreCOM 8224XL HP ProCurve 2910al-24G All of the above are 10/100 except the HP which is gigabit. DECA limits out at 54mbps so Fast Ethernet is fine. I also have some 100FX stuff also but that is a project for future me.
  21. Name has been changed.
  22. Welcome to the MSFN!
  23. Same to you as I posted above: https://msfn.org/board/topic/71610-you-want-to-change-your-username/?do=findComment&comment=1262866
