In my experience, I have never been able to resolve a situation where the OS gets stuck at the boot animation, going back to Vista. The logs you posted (and the logs in general) are not useful in this regard. What is needed is to set the BCD option to enable debug and another machine with windbg installed (as well as the knowledge to use it in this context) to fully determine where the issue is, presuming the debugger catches it. We must be clear here and explain that Ubisoft did not announce they were dropping support. They announced they will be actively blocking their program from running on Windows 7. It is a completely different thing.

I have some experience as a user of a Ruffle implementation on another site, specifically the SMF plug-in. It is not perfect and is not good in some instances where you'd be better off using actual Flash instead. The specifics are memory leaks and not being able to handle large amounts of symbols. The symbols one is weird as it causes logic errors to occur.

Yes the BIOS can lock out the ability to boot specific architectures. If this is indeed the issue, the only solution is to get a modified BIOS from the manufacturer. There may be a version already available that allows x86 boot but it wouldn't be the latest. You'll have to look at older BIOS and their changelogs if the manufacturer makes things like that. For example, Intel has release notes for their different versions that can be read to find specific ones to use.

It was a few years ago that the county executive had decided to back some plan to ban plastic bags because one time he was driving in the city, he saw plastic bags stuck to trees. And he then decided that banning the use of plastic bags was the solution and not say... organising some groups to clean up the garbage. And everyone also conveniently forgot the last time we banned plastic bags in the 90s that didn't end up lasting. For one it was the 90s and the alternative was some sort of composite bag made from corn or something that would fall apart or biodegrade way too soon... like still at the store. So they made everyone use paper bags. Then the environmentalists made a big fuss about all of the trees that were being cut for the bags and they went back to plastic. So now that we are back to paper (although many places are still using plastic despite the ban) I am counting the days until the crying over cut trees is heard again.

The issue isn't that simple. The reason is that every program is different and they store files all over the place. I'd rather spend the time using my computers for what I want to, rather than spend countless hours trying to track where a hundred programs write files and see if I can redirect them or not. As in, is it looking for a file, a file attribute (version) or at a registry key? It may be annoying due to how heavy a browser is, but the first thing I would attempt is to run a procmon trace on the browser when it is opened. I am presuming it is when opening the browser that it does the check, but if you know it does it at some other time, you can just limit the trace to that instead.

Thermal paste doesn't need to be wet at all. Its only function is to provide a path for heat to move from the CPU to the heat sink. So the fact that it is dry isn't a concern as long as that heat transfer is still occuring.

It seems to work for me. Because you didn't post it. It is an option under Layers. It shown different shades of color on each county and a number and an up or down arrow. It doesn't have any sort of pop-up to say what the number means. Also it only seems to work for certain countries.

Of course it doesn't. It only says what you can do, which is to use the OS on the computer it came with. You can transfer the license but the OS must be on that same computer. You can make a copy for backup purposes. Anything beyond that is out of scope, which includes modifying the OS to make a new install disk. Most manufacturers stick to the old way of determining compatibility and may just list Windows 10 as a blanket statement. What is more likely is that either their software or the hardware with the software was tested with a version of Windows 10. Obviously we know all the different builds of Win10 act differently and likely it does work on at least one of them. And also it may be that they tested it on one build and do not continually retest when new builds come out. I suspect the printer compatibility list may be only speaking of using the printer itself and without the software for it. Using generic drivers, etc.

I am not really concerned with updates as it is, my big decision time will come whenever Steam decides to drop Win7.

The license does not grant you the right to reimage. It is not about law. Law comes into deal with how Microsoft would be able to prosecute a person who violated the license and that is what comes down to what country you live in.

That is aimed at Enterprise channel. You are mixing up terms. It is not the media, it is the data. A recovery DVD is just an install DVD, there is nothing special about it. The OEM is the only one who is permitted to create installations using their software and the only one who can put their software on hardware. Enterprise or Retail users (hobbyists) are not allowed to do either of those things. This is all licensing things and unfortunately I cannot link to any public documentation. Microsoft, in all their wisdom, decided to lock this information behind Partner levels, even though it certainly has a use to (at least) those at the System Builder level.
