  1. bwgen.com is not affiliated with MSFN or any of our members (to my knowledge). You will need to contact someone at that website in order to get help. They have a contact email address right on their main page.
  2. I'd imagine it would take more work in order to not use the DWM API to change things. Has this been tested in Windows 8 at all? The documentation on MSDN says that DWM was changed in Windows 8 so that these types of things would no longer work.
  3. Take a look in here: http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/10-windows-tips-n-tweaks/
  4. Is this a Ctrl+V paste or a right-click paste? I notice the Context menu in the reply box never shows a paste option, but Ctrl+V usually works fine.
  5. A nice horror movie, Shocker which I think I may retire onto my "greatest hits" shelf. Usually reserved for box art, it can do for now. Great 80s metal soundtrack, oddest moment is realising the main villian is the same guy who plays ADA Skinner in the X-Files show/movies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shocker_%28film%29
  6. Yes, it normally asks it at first setup, at least Samsung's do, example: http://www.knowyourmobile.com/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s4/20099/how-set-your-samsung-galaxy-s4-first-time jaclaz Google Location is something new, which is their reaction to getting sued for recording Wifi passwords. It isn't the same as the main GPS function of the phone. Location a separate Google applet that handles just what is mentioned (at least publicly) in that guide. Well it is another OS-tan, which isn't new and I believe pre-dates hipster culture (if that is such a thing.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Os-tan I'm actually surprised it took this long for an official IE-tan to exist. I'm fairly sure there was one before, but maybe just not an officially supported product.
  7. Yeah I noticed recently that they changed it so you can't even comment or vote on posts without having an account. I already have a Google+ (and a gmail) technically for my phone, but I don't use those services. Just youtube primarily. My biggest complaint is that Google+ wants to use your real name, and they had "banned" me before by having a first name as an underscore as it didn't meet their criteria... Forget that the account was active for almost a year by that point. But it is still possible to use "fake" names there, just don't try using symbols as your first name.
  8. I recommend you do what you must to resolve this issue.
  9. What browser?
  10. Yes it can be disabled. Certain functions won't work, like Maps, location tagging with photos, certain other apps that require it. The maps is a strange one. Its not like Google Maps on the website, where it loads up and you type where you want to look at. It automatically tries to set the default map location based on your current GPS and complains about Location Services being disabled. And as far as "opt-in" this isn't entirely accurate. The phone never asks you if you want to use it or not. In my experience (noting that all Android OS versions and settings added by wireless carriers may be different) it is more of an opt-out scenario. Everyone I know has it enabled on their phones because it is the default setting. It doesn't ask you when you first set up your phone or anything, but you can go turn it off if you want. Anyways, the only useful thing I've personally found using Location Services is that the clock will change automatically when changing Time Zones.
  11. Hmmm that's still broken huh. I found it by accident awhile ago, but I guess not many people click on that one.
  12. It would work on my browser too if I let it. I refuse to however. I am using Firefox 24. That site works on my IE10 (should be some warning that the site plays sound) just fine. It loads a Flash container, which is this URL: http://www.gedforfree.com/ged/geddata/16/Language%20Arts%201/player/playershell.swf
  13. I'm going based on what MagicAndre has posted about Windows 8 in the past. I trust his judgement as his knowledge of the inner workings of Windows is way better than mine. But in reality Windows 8.1 isn't any big change from Windows 8 from what I can tell but if you exclude the Start Screen and removal of the Start Menu, Windows 8 is a fine upgrade from Windows 7. Of course those two things I mentioned are also detractors for me which is why I am still on Windows 7.
  14. I haven't heard anything. It seems to be that MS is going away from traditional OS releases and going into making update versions. After all, we got Win8.1 less than a year after Win8 came out.
  15. The first page is Articulate Presenter's browser detection script. My browser doesn't let me view "the site" either because I have scripting disabled. What browser are you using?
  16. Who implied that? 8.1 isn't really an improvement over 7 in the very same ways 8.0 isn't an improvement. It's an App Delivery System designed by Microsoft to do one thing: You're only looking at the part of the OS, specifically the Start Screen. If you ignore that, then it is an improvement.
  17. Take a look at either of ChrisR's or Kel's project threads in this section.
  18. I wouldn't worry about the monitors in Device Manager. If you wanted to clear yourself of anomalies there, reboot into Safe Mode and delete all the items under where the monitors show up. The reason for Safe Mode is that there may be more devices that appear there. Which motherboard do you have and what display do you have?
  19. This behaviour isn't browser specific. Do you have AdBlock Plus installed?
  20. That's usually the fault of the video driver. I have seen in several cases where the same hardware will or won't run WinSAT at first boot depending what video driver is installed.
  21. Yes this is the case, however I have the same pasting problem with Firefox as well.
  22. In my experience, there is always warnings in the CBS logs, even on a clean source with nothing added. Usually you only go into the cbs.log when troubleshooting a problem. What problem are you experiencing?
  23. I vote for a "you first" approach... http://www.modern.ie/en-us/11percent Sorry! We found the following errors (301) http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.modern.ie%2Fen-us%2F11percent 20 Errors, 2 warning(s) http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.modern.ie%2Fen-us%2F11percent
  24. I can only find INFO notices...
