Ok wait. I think maybe you are using recenv.exe from a Windows 8 system. I have not used that yet.

Can you share when the user had registered?

Does it do this *because* you had removed files? I have not seen this screen before.

How to disable security popups under winpe
Tripredacus replied to Kullenen_Ask's topic in Windows PE
Last time I played with the idea of disabling those messages... I recall it was related to security zones in IE. However nowadays if I run into this type of message, I work around it by doing a different way. For example, if the security message is caused by running an application from a network share, I will copy it locally and run it there instead. -
GA-Z87N-WIFI, WinPE, have to boot twice to get mouse

Sure! UEFI isn't that complicated. However, like any standard BIOS, things are different across all hardware. -
NoelC, have you looked at maybe something relating to your video card? The reason I bring it up is because my work video card has problems running aero. It actually runs aero just fine, but things crash when a screensaver comes on or a display goes to sleep. So on this particular computer, I can't use Aero.

Why not invent a flying car instead of one manned, spaceship
Tripredacus replied to ROTS's topic in General Discussion
We already have too many people who can't properly drive their ground-based vehicles. I hate to see how flying cars would be any better. -
Ouch. Sounds like a pretty clever case of social sabotage, the bait being a desirable feature that Microsoft purposely obsolesced from the new Xbox. The devious perps ( Sony fanboys? ) see this opening, design a fake fix for the Xbox to restore backwards compatibility and voilà ... Xbrick! Clever and devious. The actual trick isn't fake, it just won't work if you do it wrong (much like USB connectors) Microsoft had already said that there will be no Xbox One devkits, and it was discovered that all retail Xbox Ones have a devkit menu. The problem with it "not working" is due to people not having an authorized key to enter in the field. The real problem here is that you can actually break the boot sequence of the console by playing with this menu. That is the fault of the developer, not the users of the menu.

GA-Z87N-WIFI, WinPE, have to boot twice to get mouse
Tripredacus replied to Kris27's topic in Windows PE
You can do it multiple ways. One way would be to use a .reg file and have it added during boot up. Just add the appropriate command to your startnet.cmd or winpeshl.ini, whichever you use, and of course put the .reg file in the image. The other way would be to load the SOFTWARE hive under HKLM in Regedit and make the change. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732157.aspx Registry hives are located here: mount\Windows\System32\config I would recommend using the first method to test and verify that it does, indeed, fix your issue. If it does, then you can do the registry edit. Although, it may be the case that adding the reg file does not work because it is a setting that only takes effect after a reboot. I can't speak to that. So then make a backup of your boot image before fiddling with its registry if you are not experienced in it. -
The regular security log doesn't seem to have that. I've found some things in this container in Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows: Event ID 8001 in Operational log of GroupPolicy Completed user logon policy processing for DOMAIN\RDPUser in 4 secondsThere may be more locations that are logged automatically. Maybe in your Security log, but mine just shows Audit results and none of them were showing any RDP logons.

Installing Vista x64 Ultimate on FAT32
Tripredacus replied to Jody Thornton's topic in Windows Vista
Well it started out looking like it would be better but it isn't. This attempt using xxcopy failed because the OS doesn't boot at all. Directories Processed = 11,550 Total Data in Bytes = 12,627,711,041 Elapsed time in sec. = 965.6 (16 min 5 sec) Action speed (MB/min) = 784.7 Files Examined = 67,059 Files Copied = 59,055 Error Count = 11,225 Exit code = 255 (Exit code is the number of failures plus 100)The elapsed time is very wrong. It was at least 6 hours since it was still going when I left. We can tell there are less errors, or that it copied approximately 2,000 files that xcopy didn't. It did not fail on all the items in WinSxS. Most said either "Copy Failed" or "Can't Create" but some did succeed. At least from what little (comparatively) I could tell from what was left in the console. After I rebooted, I got an error from Boot Manager saying winload.exe was missing. I made the partition Active but it still gave that error. So I booted back into WinPE to run BCDBoot, but it gave me this error: BFSVC Error: Unable to load MUI file for BCD strings (2).I took a look-see into C:\windows\system32 and confirmed that winload.exe was not present. In fact, there were only 3 .exe files in there, so that's definately a problem! Anyways, I will have to take a break from playing with this because I need to use that PC for something else. It is possible I had not used the proper arguments with xxcopy. This was what I used: xxcopy d: c: /S /E /H /K /JR I can't remember if I used /N or /B, I should have written it down. -
I doubt it has to do with the edition. There is little (if any) difference between parallel editions of Windows when it comes to system requirements.

xxcopy is taking some time. It looks like it was able to handle Documents and Settings, but I can tell that it is failing (says Copy Failed) on the files in WinSxS. I won't know any more until it is finished. -

Installing Vista x64 Ultimate on FAT32

I found another one with a GUI called FastCopy that has a native 64bit version. yCopy is 32bit only and USB doesn't seem to work on my test PC with my 32bit PE. :\ Anyways, see attached for the great list of files that were skipped, which I am guessing is due to 8.3 support. Log file is bigger than what I'd want to upload to MSFN and Pastebin won't let me upload there either. So here is the log file showing the full stats and all the directories that would not copy. Installing Vista x64 Ultimate on FAT32

Xcopy won't do it. It blows up when trying to create Documents and Settings directory on the destination. There doesn't seem to be a way to skip errors, although booting Windows without that folder might be some problem. My command was: xcopy q:\*.* c:\*.* /S /E /K /H /N /BIt did copy the boot files over tho... -
Installing Vista x64 Ultimate on FAT32
Tripredacus replied to Jody Thornton's topic in Windows Vista
I'm wondering if the method of deploying matters. For my test, I had deployed a Windows 7 x64 image with Imagex to a single partition. I can also try using DISM with a System Reserved partition. All my Vista images are archived now and I'm actually using Diskpart from Windows 8. I figured that it would probably be better to attempt to convert the file system prior to booting into Windows for the first time, which is why I did not want to consider doing a manual install from DVD. -
Installing Vista x64 Ultimate on FAT32
Tripredacus replied to Jody Thornton's topic in Windows Vista
I only have Partition Magic 8 (DOS) here, and it does not give me an option to convert. It may be because it detects error 105: Partition starts on wrong boundary. I had decided to deploy Windows to NTFS then boot Partition Magic before booting Windows. If there is any other tool I should try, let me know. -

First, maybe it should be determined how you would get the OS onto that kind of volume. I just tried to deploy Windows 7 x64 to a FAT32 partition and it gives me errors. That is the generic .exe icon, or the placeholder before the proper icon is loaded. For Windows 7, see what the icons look like using another user account.
