Are you saying then that Intel, Radeon and Matrox are AOK... or do you mean that updated drivers or drivers for new nVidia cards are slow to become available?

Add Package Guide
Tripredacus replied to behdadsoft's topic in Unattended Windows 10/11 Installation
Windows 10 is moving away from individual updates and going more toward cumulative ones. For example, the latest one as of this posting is KB3081444: https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=3081444 Clicking on either will show which updates are included. I do not yet know if previous updates need to be removed before putting the new one in, it is likely. Only one DVD has been made with my Windows 10 install.wim, but I have not yet added KB3081444 to it. The newest one I used is KB3074683. That works fine without having to add any updates to boot.wim. Why are you adding updates to winre.wim and boot.wim? I have never seen anything saying you need to do that, other than for a relevant hotfix. -
Windows Vista installation - does make sense?

We also have this forum section specifically for those trying to use 2008 on non-server boards. http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/161-windows-server-2008-to-workstation/ -
I suspected as much. There are some viruses that will replace the Action Center so it can show a fake version of it. Sometimes the antivirus or anti-malware software does the task of removing the infection but does not revert all changed that were made. Do you have the log file or the name of the virus that was removed?
-
Ehhh is your "code" just an INI file for use in some program?
-
Have you recently gotten and/or removed a virus from this computer?

In my earlier times of playing with/owning computers, I had Windows 3.11 and Toshiba DOS 5. If I needed to reinstall I would install DOS 5 first and then Windows. I did this then with Windows 95. I had read a long time ago that if you wanted a true DOS you needed to install it first, then install Windows 95. I don't recall doing much on my own with Windows 95. I had it but usually only used it as an intermediary to get to Windows 98 as I only had the Windows 98 Upgrade edition CD. I'm sure I put a lot of time on Win95 but I can't really discern those memories from my Windows 98 ones. On computers I did not own myself, I remember some things. I remember setting up a Token Ring network with multiple Windows 95 PCs in college for a course I was taking. Before that I remember using family members' computers that had Windows 95, mostly for playing games or going online with Hyper Terminal, then Prodigy and AOL.

If I am to understand the quote correctly, it is that being a child of the System account is what allowed another account to take ownership of something. That may mean that if you were to set deny permissions for the System account on an object, Trusted Installer may not be able to take ownership. I may be wrong, as the last time I did something like that was in Windows XP. I took ownership of a file, then removed all permissions except Read for the System account. The item in question was not part of the OS, however, it was a file associated with a virus that I had difficulty in removing.

The top paid and top grossing app from the Microsoft Store, is surprising: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/top-grossing/apps/pc At the time of this post, it is a $6 program that lets you open and create .zip, .rar and .7z files!
-
I never personally use that. You can try using FirstLogonCommands and see how you like that. That will run your installations after login but before the Desktop loads. So you can see the things running.

I am going to guess that System does. - Windows Internals Part 1, 6th Edition.

Is it possible to get a screenshot or picture of these messages? I don't want to jump to conclusions, as I've seen these types of messages before but do not know if they are what you are experiencing: 1. Refresh from Win8.1 may show a message to insert the installation media if the system originally came with Windows 8.0. 2. Some third party recovery programs may show a "disk is locked" message and prevent installation.

The boot process for Windows 10 depends on which mode it is booted. For that program, Noel, does it work in both legacy and UEFI modes?
-
AFAIK it is fixed if using UEFI boot and an image is in the BGRT. However the only boards that provide a public tool (that I am aware of) to add a picture to BGRT is Intel.

How to avoid being "upgraded to Win 10" against your will:
Tripredacus replied to dencorso's topic in Windows 8
And hopefully some future update doesn't change it back! -
Yes the DPI setting is only for Windows itself, not setup/WinPE. If you know the size of a US quarter, then you can see how a UEFI only tablet looks like with the Gimagex HTA that I have in my signature: While the text specified by the HTA scaled "appropriately" I can tell you that must custom imaging GUI (which is not shown) is super tiny. As long as this remains to be true, I will eventually have to learn how to program my GUI to scale as well. So I feel your pain.

So? Give users the option to disable it if it doesn't look good to them. It reminds me of a fairly recent change on Yahoo's website. The sports section had a dark background and their user feedback indicated it was hard to read. So they changed it to a white background. No notice, no option to change if you want to use dark vs light background. Yahoo's position was that the majority of feedback indicated users preferred the white background so it became that for everyone!

It is by design since WinPE4. You'll need to rewrite your GUI to handle the different scaling that may occur. This was the answer I got when I opened a support case with MS in 2013. Here was my first topic about it (see also the Technet link for more info) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162510-unable-to-set-resolution-in-winpe4/ Here is the challenge you may face while working with UEFI mode on a 4k display: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173469-uefi-installation-on-a-4k-native-display/
