  1. When are you importing the ROE keys? Is it when defaultuser is logged on (T-12)?
  2. jfmartel, what you *CAN* do instead, is do a RIS install (over the network). And since you have control over the image being sent out to install at the workstation, you can just change the unattend.txt each time before an install (so you can make a mental note of the password or write it down somewhere).
  3. Yes, you can use partition magic or some such tool to delete that partition. One thing though, would be to remember to copy away the data in that partition (after unhiding it) to a CD or to a ghost image. Because it contains the software you are licensed for, plus a lot of other utils which (at this point of time) you think of as being useless - but think about it, you have paid for it so why lose it? Backup what is there in the hidden partition to somewhere else, then delete it.
  4. You can make a multi-boot disc with 3 different BOOT folders (each having a different winnt.sif). So that when the CD boots up, it will ask which of the 3 options to install and you just choose the one you want - that's all.
  5. Hard disk #1: partition1 = 7.5 GB (windows, Docs&Settings, ProgramFiles, really important installs, internet cache and temp files) partition2 = 30 GB (Heavy apps and Game installations) partition3 = 50 GB (whatever) partition4 = rest of the space (whatever) Hard disk #2: partition1 = 2 GB (page/swap file for windows) partition2 = 40 GB (whatever) partition3 = 38 GB (whatever) Well, the above is what looks good to me (it will give the best possible performance), but you can change it to suit your usage.
  6. To everybody out there: Thanks for your attention. Let's not have junk/flame/congratulatory/newbie posts on this topic, because the page gets cluttered up. Updated all posts above to be in tune with year 2005. If you find your post missing, it has been moved to this topic - link.
  7. Doh! If it is possible, I'm interested in knowing too.
  8. If you can access google, then other sites should be accessible too. Or maybe you have NAT-based sharing, or IP masquerading which will render sites that rely on the certainty of your IP address inaccessible to you.
  9. First, what does this have to do with unattended windows? Next see forum rules, #12
  10. Hey Niktareum, no quotes are needed for directory-names without spaces. For example: START /wait %systemdrive%\WINAPPS\kav5\kav5.exe
  11. It is not legal.
  12. * moved to "Websites and Boards" forum
  13. RegSnap is a load of junk! Too big, too complex interface, and they expect you to pay for it! And it does not offer anything more than RegShot which is freeware. Also, regshot is easier to use and quicker and can be directly run (unlike regsnap which needs a setup). Download regshot from this thread - link. Enjoy!
  14. Nope, "-default" does nothing at all. (tested just now)
  15. Happy to hear that its not a problem that was causing it. Backups is good news
  16. That's nice, thanks. I'm still waiting for 4.x series to come out of beta!
  17. Oh?I didn't know about this, it sounds interesting. Is there more info about that switch somewhere? From what you say, running firefox with "-default" at command-line will make it use the default profile in the installed folder. If so, its great news for configuring and installing extensions before using "direct copy" on firefox. (or am I mis-understanding what you said!) Presently what I'm doing is to have the extensions manually added into the installed folder of firefox (and edit the .js files by hand to add the references). This way the user profile need not be separately configured (the first time firefox starts up, it picks up these extensions from default profile).
  18. ????????????????????
  19. this has already been discussed (3 times in the past week ) Please search!
  20. Don't block out "everything". Just close all ports leaving none open. And why'd you want to re-open *ALL* the ports one-by-one? There's 65,000 of them!
  21. @Shotgun Me too (with the difference that that I did not wait when XPlode/XPinstall showed up, been using it right since its "testing" days. But now I've stuck to XPlode 1.00 despite it being an older version since it does the job and does it well with ZERO issues and PERFECT compatibility!) Yeah, it was just something I played with for a month or so. Those limitations and draw-backs is the reason why it amazes me to see so many new-comers deciding to directly start using RunOnce method. They end up neither having the power that command-lines can give, nor learn what a uA install really does. I'd say the best thing you can do is to stick on to .CMDs - and when you make the move to something else, atleast make the move a worthy one (RunOnce is neither powerful nor as good-looking as options like XPlode/WIHU/WPI).
  22. Okay, and what about the abnormal number of downloads mentioned above?
  23. Is RunOnceEX stone age, or is it .CMDs ?
  24. ZoneAlarm firewall has been around since a long time. Then they started expanding the feature list, where recently anti-virus, IM-protection, and so on... was added. Been using SecuritySuite since quite sometime and I'd say its VERY good. (nothing else is needed for security/protection after installing ZoneAlarm SecuritySuite)
  25. I had those too, but very rarely. It was like, that error message would only come for a small time. If I tried again a minute later, it would be fine. Talking about DDoS attacks, please take a look at this thread: topic=32746 I think something is wrong there. It cannot be possible that there has been 146,335 downloads of that attached file. Very low interest in the thread, but lot of downloads - how can that be? Even the Registry Tweaks attachment (which has a high-interest thread, and lot of people wanting that file) has seen only 8370 downloads. If it is is really true that there has been 146,335 downloads of that file, then is that the method the attackers are using to DDoS the site? If so, then please set the forums to give post-attachment downloads only to registered/logged-in members. (dunno.... just trying to find out ways to prevent mis-use )
