  1. VBscript is perfectly suited for this. If you want to proceed on that, or want code snippets, please tell what purpose its for and I could whip one up.
  2. @LoLo Most certainly we are watchful. Also, un4given1's response was definitely not made to offend anyone.
  3. See ispack and innounp.
  4. Welcome to MSFN!
  5. You need to edit the bootfix.bin text there with EXACTLY the same number of characters. That is, over-write the old chars and not delete it and type.
  6. Hey chankya, There is no reason for you to feel offended...... We all need some humour some times.
  7. Tried IM2 ? Or Trillian ? And both these can go into IRC chat-rooms.
  8. ktx, please explain what you want!
  9. Your second Q is a good one, to which we don't know a good answer yet. Probably some code to get %CD% then strip only characters from the last slash? I don't know... As for using %systemroot% If more explanation of that is needed, just let me know.
  10. More to add! Microsoft's own documentation, updated for SP2: Check out this Excel file, it directly has all the reg changes that "gpedit.msc" (group policy editor) makes - link.
  11. Well, I left it so that someone or the other would see it and explain it.... Anyways, I don't really think those keys are difficult to understand - the names and descriptions itself do the explaining!
  12. Don't worry, that support will be added later. This one is beta, so probably not fully functional. Anyways, have you tried directly using the XP 64-bit? I mean, even if its not listed as a supported OS, directly loading the ISO and setup?
  13. If you have used Group Policy editor on win2k/XP/2k3, you must have seen so many fantastically useful settings there, and thought of doing it unattended. But I've always seen only INFs to be applied by the secedit tool at command-line - which is not a very exciting idea. Instead, just run gpedit.msc, and go to the option you want to set in it. 1. Disable it - so that the key is set in registry. 2. Take a snapshot of your registry using regshot. 3. Now enable the option you want. 4. Take a 2nd snapshot with regshot. 5. Now ask regshot to "Compare" the two, and it will throw up a text file that shows all modified keys in their "before" and "after" forms. 6. There will be many keys listed - including those that are not related to what you want. Its easy enough for you to identify the right ones and take the "after" form. If the key shown is a per-user setting, it will have the SID before it - just shorten that to HKCU. 7. Now put this key in your regtweaks that you apply during uA setup. Enjoy! How to run the policy editor? Start >> Run >> gpedit.msc Where is regshot? link to download
  14. Nopes, I don't intend to one-up at all. In fact, you are the one who has given far more info, which he'll still want to refer to later.
  15. I was hoping it would come out quicker.
  16. Let's hope so. Though its doubtful Using winrar will hugely simplify things - its SFX module has class B) .
  17. uh! We're talking about unattended here - http://unattended.msfn.org/. @gamehead200 That's nice, but how can I do it unattended? Do I need to use that chrome editor or something to edit the .JS files, and even then what values do I change? Firefox is a pretty good browser, except for these hurdles when you start looking at uA. haha, since we have already mentioned 2 browsers here, I'm going to flog a dead horse now: Its even easier in Opera - whether manually (Disk Cache >> Off) or unattended (edit the .ini which is a plain-text with comments).
  18. No... In your C:\ drive you will see folders with names starting from weird characters like $ (dollar) and ~ (tilde). That's what you need to delete.
  19. what version of drivers are you using currently? How can we know if there's an update for your WS2k3 driver, unless we know what version you already have? Anyways, get the latest nVidia graphics driver from here - link And also enable full graphics hardware acceleration. Doing those two things, everything works perfectly for me.
  20. You should have the file "bootfix.bin" in your I386 folder. Maybe it got deleted in some way. That is the file which gives the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt. Put it back in there from somewhere, and your problem is solved (hopefully). Do post back with results.
  21. It depends on what your site is going to be.If its just a general site, your web-page creating app itself (Frontpage,DreamWeaver,GoLive) can manage it. Portal? check out VirtuaNews (used by msfn as well) or Invision Portal Blog? check out WordPress (pay) or Blog:CMS (free) ...... and a million more categories In every case, remember that it requires some effort to understand how it works. I've just seen far too many people give up saying its too difficult. If you have the desire to make your site good, you will easily learn how to use your CMS. Do post back here on what you finally chose!
  22. First, opera8 is not quite THAT different from earlier versions. Next, opera's own forums is obviously the place to look for the max amount of info. http://my.opera.com/forums/ Opera R00LZ!
  23. You have GUI command-shells, but that's not a good thing to use. You can also comiple the .CMDs to an EXE - or use CMDOW to hide it completely. Or you can replace CMD scripts with something graphical - like WIHU/WPI/XPlode/etc.
  24. Ha ha... Anyways, the real credit goes to you for the link.
