Do a "/A" to make an AIP. Install from AIP using "/QB" switch. Export registration info from the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.5.0Then apply the .REG silently.

Woo! That's called having a very good eye That's right, the "020" should be "006". Nova please check once again in VMware with this modification and tell us whether it works now.

I will update it when there is a good lot of things to add, which everyone could benefit from. Plus, there's the _small_ problem about the time it takes to go through all the pages and add the new tweaks and sort it and document it properly. The last time I did it took almost a whole day. If someone is willing to make an updated regtweaks file that contains all the tweaks found in this thread, I will gladly replace the file in the first post and give the credits to whoever has done it (though I will need to check the file thoroughly before putting it on first post). I'm actually thinking of starting a new thread with an updated set of tweaks. Maybe I'll put it up once the uA CD guide update (by Alanoll) is done.

"The Bat" (another email client) is very good and also satisfies what you want. If size is not an issue though, you'd much rather go for thunderbird (the mozilla suite's e-mail client).

Holding down Shift/Ctrl when the CD is inserted sometimes helps. Otherwise, just use some **** old ripping software to rip from the disk - that usually does it. (the old rippers simply don't even *KNOW* that they should supposedly not be able to rip "encrypted" tracks)

Hello Nova, Welcome to MSFN forums! First, winrar does not need the "/W" switch (it doesn't do anything). Just the "/s" is enough. For Symantec Anti-Virus, have you read this topic? link About Spybot, I don't know, maybe someone else will come along who uses it. But I'd say there's no need to install that at all, if you are going to have your machine properly protected from the beginning with an anti-virus and firewall (and SP2, if its WinXP). Do post back with how it works out.

Opera can do it, and for a gecko-engine-based browser check out K-Meleon.NoTrax looks good, but its only a 10-day trial

First, the nVidia IDE drivers has nothing to do with what glent is talking about (the stage where it boots into the setup CD). Second, after windows is installed, the IDE drivers of nVidia is wonderful and causes ZERO problems - I've found that my frame-rates in games decrease by 50% or more if the nVidia IDE drivers is not present.

That's a question you have to answer for yourself - because different people have different views about that. And your PC seems badly out of condition. (j/k) All those many anti-viruses, firewalls anti-spywares.... doesn't take one anywhere! Ensure you have WinXPSP2, uninstall all those junk (which only slow down operations), and take a look at ZoneAlarm SecuritySuite (which has all that is needed and more!).

nForce2 and IDE drives here - and it takes the normal 30 seconds or so (for loading those truck-load of MassStorage drivers). Most of those aren't even needed in most cases, but they insist you have it! 2 minutes is a bit too long. Try checking if all's well with BIOS settings, with "CMOS defaults" and "optimized" settings. Then see if something is wrong with the data cable. Try borrowing a new HD from someone and boot using that, does it still take as long?

Option 1 is the better choice. A GeForce2 cannot even make full use of 4x AGP transfer speeds - so 8x is pointless IMO.

swearing is bad for health You're referring to the progs that would work straight-away using "direct copy" ? Yes, I believe I saw that thread here in software hangout (maybe a month ago). It had mIRC mentioned twice or so.... THERE! (you have enough clues ) And FYI, firefox is also a "direct copy" browser - in fact the most suited among the entire group for that method. (which is why all this madness for firefox installers sounds silly if you exclude extensions)

VBulletin to PHPBB converter?
prathapml replied to matrix0978's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
Yes there is a converter. Take a look at the phpBB project's own forums first! And yes, don't go from vBulletin to phpBB - your members are going to feel "down-graded" and be mad at you. If you're moving because of the cost involved, check out Invision Power Board which is cheaper. -
McAfee Internet Security Suite, silent install
prathapml replied to TjobzzZ's topic in Application Installs
McAfee unattended install - nice info, thanks! -
The dial-up tray icon you see, is for a temporary connection. Most DSL/cable is through permanent network cards (though actual connection may be temporary) - so you will only see the network interface tray icon there (can be enabled from "Network Neighbourhood" if its not already there).

In the folder from where you are installing Office (whether its from CD or by AIP), browse through to: \FILES\SETUP\setup.iniYou can set the Caching settings. That is the simplest way to do what you want.

Image too large, breaks page display - IMG tag converted to URL instead.

Well then, there isn't THAT way for this driver then. See if its an InstallShield package and use appropriate method to have it installed at T-12 or at first-login.

Unbelievable problem with Firefox installation
prathapml replied to midiboy's topic in Application Installs
Now I want to know why it doesn't work (since I recommended that INF). Are firefox files extracted properly to "%ProgramFiles%\Mozilla\Firefox" directory? Actually, you won't even need anything more than that, the INF/REG is just for the sake of firefox identifying itself to plug-ins (like flash 7 player, etc.). -
Question for BritishBullDog......
prathapml replied to bonedaddy's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
If you have a question for a certain person, PM them instead of posting it on the forums. And if you do post on the public forum, don't title your thread with member-names. -
No, we aren't hostile to linux. Most of the people on here simply ignore it, that's all. If you were looking for something as easy as ICS on WinXP is, then forget it. On the other hand, if you were looking for something more powerful than what XP offers, go for linux. Just use standard network routing along with a DHCP setup to get the other PC onto the internet connection (and a firewall too, ipchains in the kernel is extremely customizable and offers stateful firewalling). That applies to any full-featured distribution (not only SuSE Gmbh). There's no need to download and install anything to do the above. If you had to ask WHETHER it is possible, more likely than not you will not find it to be do-able....
