  10. Hmmm.... You seem to have a mis-conception, that in VMware, somehow you dont INSTALL the OS. In fact, MOST people think along those lines. Whereas the truth is that VMware is nothing mysterious. Whatever OS you run in it, is run, installed, played, operated, (and CRASHED, if you like ), in EXACTLY the same way as if on a real machine. It just gives you a (safe) virtual machine, thats all! Only after really trying it, do you understand what its all about. VMware has saved me countless hours of valuable time, since the last few years. Not to mention, the convenience & testing on a machine of exactly as much RAM/harddisk as you like, with either IDE or SCSI at your disposal. And NOOOO, dont even talk of MS' VirtualPC2004 in the same breath as VMware. Nor even BOCHS & and all that crap.... VMware was the path-breaker, and it still is orders of magnitude better than the other emulating/virtualising apps.
  11. topic moved to general discussion.
  12. And what is this topic doing in "Windows XP" section? Moving to hardware hangout.
  13. We had a non-Windows section. Wasn't very active.
  14. What does the dyslexic, insomniac, agnostic do? He stays up all night, wondering if a dog really exists.....
  15. Obviously Sun wouldn't list MS certs....
  16. Right. And moreover, VMware offers ABSOLUTE safety. You can do anything at all, without the fear that in the background you have unknowingly caused some data loss.
  17. See the previous few posts in this thread.... The sample chatroom is already up and running!
  18. Happy Birthday chris!
  19. If you dont need the new fixes/updates like you said, then why keep downloading it? Its meant for those who NEED it.They aren't forcing customers to update anyways.
  20. use a http proxy!
  21. It wouldnt be possible, since it would take up too much space on the server. Already, just space for 50 PM messages is quite a lot, for most people who rarely use it. And those who do use, very rarely remember to DELETE old messages. So that eats up dead space in the SQL db.... Try this - go to "My Controls" (top right), and click "Archive Messages" in the left-panel - LINK. That can send all messages to your E-mail, in .XLS or .HTM format. Do it, and delete the existing messages, to clear your Inbox.
  22. And needs DHT as well (yes, i know its the Nth time I'm saying this, and that its scheduled to arrive by v1.2 ).
  23. Makes perfect sense. Linux believes in choice. And for your info, "all those ppl who dont want to use it ever" can easily re-compile, or use a distro that doesnt have the extra file-systems & fuse by default. And like DigeratiPrime said, its not LINUX itself thats bloated, its just a kernel - as a matter of fact, the windows kernel is far more bloated. Its just that all major linux DISTROS (distributions) are going downhill & getting slow (because of trying to emulate windows, instead of leveraging the inherent strengths of linux).
