  2. Come on, its just an online forum, a virtual world! Nobody gains anything by talking down on you, keep discussion focussed on facts. Please tone down your tendency to escalate flames. Now back to topic..... Symantec AV 10.1 is the one I am most happy with - it may or may not be the best, but its good enough & does the job. Moreover, since I needed a 64-bit antivirus, the options get TOO limited! NOD32 - seemed too different, removed it. Avast! - works fine, but slows down the rest of the system a lot, whenever any file is being written to (with all that spinning "a" icon, & all). AVG, Kaspersky, F-Secure, Norman, McAfee, F-Prot, Sophos, Panda, eTrust/EZ - tried them all, didn't seem good enough, had bad experiences with them at one time or the other, and most of them wont run on XP64 - moreover, companies like to trust in a big-name brand. That leaves out ZoneAlarm Antivirus/SecuritySuite - now THIS app was great, for some time. Its sad that its getting bloated now, & too annoying sometimes. The other problem with it, is its lack of 64-bit support. So in the final analysis, Symantec AV 10.1 (for x64) is what seems good currently.

  4. Merging with that topic wont help. Atleast this way, it will be visible independantly (in forum topic list, or in searches). Thanks VAD!
  5. And now 1.2.2 is released... :|
  6. Mine (Nero 6.6.0.18) is 17 MB with WaveEditor (need it for converting sound files between formats). And yes, I have tried Nero7. Its not an improvement over Nero 6.6! All it does, is it has the Package1,Package2,Package3,Package4 all in one place. And Nero7 is too huge, and has no easy way to install unattended. I might go so far as to say, I suspect that Nero7 is a marketing plan (to prove that Nero is as bloated as Easy Media Creator 8). In REAL terms of REAL functionality differences, there's NO difference for me. Nero7 does nothing new, it has nothing that wasn't present in 6.6! I am happier with Nero 6.6 & will stick with it for sometime atleast. So yes, you know where the vote is! All posts till now in this topic, say that Nero7 sucks.

  9. Simplest solution would be, to add a comment in the box. Something like:

  11. Got sick of VMware making one wade through so many screens, to download the WorkStation v5.5 Here's the direct links, for all to enjoy: Download it, enter your legit key, & get to work on it!
  12. You can use FantomDVD to mount CD images!
  13. Ok, forget all hopes of making the existing windows, stand again. Your best bet is to clean out your C: drive & re-install the OS. Ensure that you have no important files lying on your C: drive. Once thats done, follow this:1. You say you received a gold CD, thats the one you need to use now. 2. Put it in the CD drive, and boot up with it. (how to boot-up from CD? press DEL or F2, at system startup, to set that from the BIOS) 3. When the CD boots, you will a small prompt at top-left - "Press any key to start installing windows". 4. Press any key, and so the Windows XP setup starts. 5. Now before going ahead, ensure that you know your CD's serial key, because Windows setup will ask you to enter it. 6. When setup starts, just follow the instructions on-screen, to do a fresh install, but remember the below point #7. 7. In setup, just make sure that you choose to NOT do a repair install (we need a FRESH install), and also, choose to install in your C: drive, and choose to format your C: drive as NTFS. 8. Thats all, after this point, windows setup will take care of it all - just type in the serial key, or any other information it asks for. Dont worry, the whole thing takes hardly 20 minutes to finish. At the end of it, you will be having a brand new Windows! Install whatever you want, be careful this time.... Do post back on how it goes.
  14. Use UltraISO, or any other floppy/CD image-reading program.
  15. Is this for Virtual PC 2004 ?
  16. Could be....Keep at it till it yields! Or maybe replace your modem.... yet.... again....
  17. Sure you haven't disabled Unicode support, in windows? And just to be sure, try the same as above, using Opera 8.50 from linux as well.
  18. Non-standard characters for sitename, username, password, etc. works fine for me on Opera 8.50.
  19. That is standard behaviour, editing a post is just plain editing a post, its not expected to bump the topic up, in the forum pages.
  20. Yes, virtual hosts will display online. The problem in your case, is that modem's admin page. The new one should fix it. In some cases, you can change your DSL modem's settings. For example, change it to RFC1483 bridged-mode. After that, you'll have to login to your ISP thru dial-up (just automate it in startup folder, thats not an issue), but the big problem of modem admin page will be solved - the outside world will see your apache (main or virtual hosts) when they visit your IP or domain. Then check out XAMPP, its even more slick!http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
  21. You just need to post those files as an attachment. And for that, go to your AdminCP, and enable *.avi, *.mp3, or whatever file-types you're gonna upload. And set the max. file-size limit too. Now I would caution you though, to be careful, as invisionfree offers you only 16 MB of space. So hardly 2 videos & you'll be locked out of your forum (adminCP will still be usable). Do feel free to post any further questions!
  22. Pretty good, actually.
  23. In that case, no idea mate. Probably report it here, if you feel like it - Invision Forums
  24. A father asked his 10 year old son if he knew about the birds and the bees. "I don't want to know!" the child said, bursting into tears. "Promise me you won't tell me." Confused, the father asked what was wrong. “Oh dad," the boy sobbed, "when I was 6 I got the' There's no Santa' speech. At 7, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny' speech. When I was 8, you hit me with the 'There's no tooth fairy' speech. & Now If you tell me that grown-ups don't really shag each other, I'll have nothing left to live for."
